Plugable's USB-C to HDMI Adapter allows you connect an HDMI display to your laptop, tablet, or desktop which supports USB 3.1 "Alternate Mode" (Alt Mode) video output functionality. HDMI 2.0 compliance enables the use of displays up to 4K@60Hz, while maintaining backward compatibility with legacy HDMI 1.4/1.3 displays.

Performance

USB-C Alt Mode graphics adapters utilize a direct pipeline to the graphics processor in your system, and your connected monitor will function and perform as a natively attached display.

HDMI 2.0 supports 4K / UHD displays up to 3840x2160@60Hz while being backward compatible with HDMI 1.4/1.3 to provide support for popular modes such as 1920x1080@60Hz (1080P), 2560x1440@60Hz, and 3840x2160@30Hz.

Compatible Systems

Plug and Play installation on any Windows, Mac, or Linux host which supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode (Alt Mode) video output functionality.

Adapter has been fully tested for functionality on the 2017 iMac, MacBook and MacBook Pro systems running macOS 10.12.6, MacBook Retina 12" 2015 / 2016, Late 2016 MacBook Pro (with and without Touch Bar), Dell XPS 9350 / 9550, Lenovo P50 and Lumia 950 / 950 XL (Lumia output is limited to 720P).

Note: Apple has limited the 4K abilities of the 2015/2016 12" MacBook to only support 30Hz.

Incompatible Systems

Most current phones and tablets with USB-C ports do not support Alt Mode video output.

ASMedia USB 3.1 controllers do not support Alt Mode video at this time.

Motherboards with dual USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports are limited to a single Alt Mode output; only one Alt Mode adapter supported per system.
