Not worth money spent to buy. I thought this book would give specific goals and objectives how to attain them. Guess book would be OK if you are new to IEP ' but if you have been through an IEP you know the steps and procedures which this book talks about. No specific goals or how to obtain them.
Not the best resource.

I am a special ed teacher and write dozens of IEPs a year. I was hoping for a book that would provide examples for phrasing for IEPs. I was disappointed.

It's a tricky arena trying to get or provide the best education you can for your child when you can't afford private schools and you have to rely on the public school system resources.
This book has helped us tremendously to traverse the various hurdles we've encountered since we've begun this journey.
I would highly recommend anyone who's child needs additional school assistance to read this. Even if you're lucky enough to be in an excellent school system, this book really helps you keep your eyes open and what to look out for.
Hope you find this is helpful, Best, Jc :)

Writing Measurable IEP Goals and Objectives breaks it down on what is required .
The book includes all the necessary items and the reason(s) behind them.
Leaves you knowing all and confirms what schools do not.
I wish I had ordered this book years ago. In the end, me ordering this book and using the knowledge of it to take to my sons IEP meeting , proved my case. Leading me to file a due process. I did not need to do that, because the schools goals and and IEP was by far the worst anyone has ever seen. We won private placement. Thank you Barbara Bateman! I hope to
More parents stop being followers of the lies of special ed and schools and start wanting more for their child in education and self advocate.
Very Insightful Method of Looking at an IEP

I'm very glad to have read this book, it explores a very insightful way of looking at the IEP. the thing is, although the process described in this book is wonderful, it is not the process utilized by my child's school. it makes sense that the goals and benchmarks should address a specific need for a specific child, but when schools routinely use "word banks" to fill in an IEP, you're losing the option for individualization. but, after reading this, i was able to go into our next IEP session better prepared for the meeting. i knew i should be stressing that my child be college ready at graduation, so goals that weren't centered around attaining that were useless to me.

I was very nervous about my upcoming IEP for my daughter entering kindergarten. This book helped me understand how to approach effective goal setting and only took a few hours to read.
Effectively uses humor to illustrate points.
My gripes: I wish the examples at the end were organized by age instead of being random. I also would like more info about types of services to request and how to connect those withthe goals, though that is admittedly beyond the scope of the book.
Very nice job. I am grateful to have found this book.

This book really explains the purpose for writing a specific goal and how to clearly measure it. In addition, regardless of the population that you are teaching, it can help in assessing individual' s progress, and it eases the planning throughout the year.
