Cheap but incredible upgrade

This led bulb is worth 10 stars in my opinion. I have an old 4 cell 25 year old Mag-Lite I've had in the shop and deliberated whether to throw it away or not because. The old batteries had leaked and corroded so badly I had to beat them out with a wooden dowel. On a hunch I opted to buy this bulb instead of trashing the old light thinking for $11 bucks there may still be hope with some new LED technology----let me tell you that's the best light money I've ever spent. The new LED bulb is at least 3 times brighter than the Xenon bulb I had installed in the old light for many years. I highly recommend this Mag-Lite inexpensive super upgrade.

Update Oct,13-17

The light is as I stated but the Chinese batteries can ruin the light by leaking something like black tar. Do not leave the original batteries in. Replace them with a quality battery. Luckily I cought mine in time-- just sayin!

Tough bulb fits my Craftsman 19.2 volt

Put this in my Craftsman 19.2volt flashlight. Worked well and I was going to give it only 4 stars

because it could be a little brighter. It is a wide beam of light with less of a direct beam, much like

a worklight. Nice if you are wanting to light a broader area.

I had to give it 5 stars though when I strapped it to the gas tank of my SCAG mower (single cylinder)

while I mowed in the dark for an hour. It vibrated the heck out of the flashlight for an hour and this bulb

amazingly took that abuse. I was impressed.

Bright white light, excellent replacement for incandescent

This little replacement works great. I put it in a Ryoby One+ light and it is so much better than the incandescent that came with it. This one is white and bright. I use it all the time when doing things outside at night. Can't say much more than it is a great replacement light for the OEM.

I bought this for my Ryobi 18V light. It fits perfectly as a replacement. It is a much brighter/whiter light. Because of the physical characteristics of a LED, the beam is more focused in the center. I already knew this so I wasn't disappointed with the light beam pattern. Iv'e read other reviews that had issues with the beam/light spread and the less than optimal brightness with flashlights that are less than 18 volts. This bulb replacement is optimally designed for 6 to 24 volts and anything less will give poor performance. Know what you are buying! As for the packaging...it came in a very nice little box and at first I thought it was jewelry my wife had ordered.

Converts Ryobi P700 worklight to searchlight

At about 1/4 energy use, this led element projects a narrow, intense beam of light surrounded by a wider cone of low intensity "glow". The mfg. is commendably honest about this, the effect is evident in the first photo provided. This is not a defect, but arises from the configuration. The light is projected straight ahead from a square element on the front of the unit, while the incandescent bulb emits light in an arc of 180°, which is then narrowed by the reflective cone common to traditional flood type lights. Estimating without measurement, at ten feet the intense beam is about 1-2 feet in diameter. At 50 feet, about 10 feet diameter of near daylight intensity. Whether it remains useful as a worklight would depend on the nature of the work and the preference of the worker. Working under a sink, the beam may be too narrow and intense. Checking the back 40 for escaped prisoners it would be perfect. The incandescent & LED are easy to switch, so I will keep the incandescent with the lamp for use when a broader, less intense field of illumination is more suitable (like inside a kitchen sink cabinet). If the LED pattern duits your needs, I would recommend it for the combination of intensity and 3-4 times longer run time from a given battery pack. I deducted 1 star because of the major change in the function of the P700 with the LED element installed. Otherwise recommended.

Drop-in LED conversion

Easy drop-in LED conversion for my 18V DeWalt Snakelight flashlight DW919. Produces a nice bright white light that lasts a long time for working safely in the dark. The light was on about three hours straight and nothing got hot. I don't know if it is any brighter than the stock incandescent bulb, I did not do a comparison. I did leave the stock incandescent bulb in place as a spare bulb that, hopefully, I should never need. The central beam bright spot is uneven, probably due to the LED chip construction and being mounted off-center.

Work as expected in the old Ryobi flashlight

It is a very good bulb for an old flashlight. Is it as good as new powerful LED flashlights? No. But that's not the point.

It does the job to bring old flashlight back to life with decent light output and magnitude longer run time.

Some people complain about the shape of the bulb and how is sticking out so reflector is not being used. Well, it is LED bulb. It does not shine to all directions like a filament. It is flat and shines forward only. It is unfair to expect more.

Also, if it does not work for you, it will be likely because springs used to seat the bulb are old and pressed too much in the flashlight and when you screw the reflector back on, it does not push the bulb far enough to make contact. Try to pull the strings out a bit, that did the trick for me.

I'm happy with the purchase and my newly restored flashlights.

Brought new life to an old maglight

I have a 6 D-Cell maglight with an old non-LED bulb. It wasn't bright at all and I dreaded having to take it because it was heavy and almost useless. But, "WOW", after installing this bulb, it is now so bright. It brought back life to my old "billy club" maglight. I actually wait until it's dark to get my mail now because the light is so bright.

Burns out quickly

I bought this for my husbands flashlight. Received this July 31st put it in his flashlight Aug 1st. About 2 weeks ago he was using the flashlight it started going dim then bright dim then bright then just stayed dim. He turned the flashlight off then back on. When he turned the flashlight back on the bulb flashed then began to smoke and stopped working. I only found this out today or I would have returned the part but because it's past the 30 day time frame I can't. Overall not satisfied with the product.

I am a police officer and have an old 4 D cell Maglite that I have had for 25-30 years. When I first got it, that was my "go to" flashlight. Then I found the rechargeable Maglite and switched to it because it was much brighter. Then I was issued a series of Streamlights (all of which are pretty good. In short, I have not used the old one for about 20 years. I came across it a few days ago and decided to check it out as a spare. Once I cleaned out the old batteries and put in new ones, the bulb blew. Checking on Amazon, I say and decided to try this one. Glad I did. There are brighter lights out there but they cost a heck of a lot more than this bulb. I now use this huge light when I walk my dog at night and it is much, much brighter than the old incandescent bulb that came with this light. It is probably right up there with the rechargeable MagLites. If you want to improve your old Maglite, I do not believe you can do better than this bulb. Highly recommend it.
