Packaging and Instructions could be better, overall pretty good. Also, DO NOT EAT!by A. Heithold (4 out of 5 stars)

DO NOT EAT - in fine print on the back of the box, and on the packet for the gelatin itself, but nowhere in the instructions that you are actually reading when making the ticks. A slight oversight, but at least they tried. Hopefully it's still non-toxic because at some point a kid WILL try to eat one of those things. In any case, the instructions for the ticks were perfect otherwise, they came out looking exactly as expected.
The thin cat layers are clearly meant to be placed on top of each other, but every layer was heavily bent from packaging and wouldn't lay flat. Instructions say to tape it down, which mostly fixes that, but I wish it wasn't necessary.
X-rays are nice, but the blue/red viewers were also bent from packaging which made it a little hard to see clearly through them.
If the tick molds are anything to go by, the plaster dog should also come out great. We haven't tried it out yet.
The suture pad is neat and works OK. The instructions on step 4 should probably say something about how you need to go back through the hole a 2nd time where you just made the knot, but otherwise they seem good. The needle isn't curved but it's flexible enough that I was able to give it a bit of a bend (do at your own risk, I'm sure it'll break before it gets to a fish-hook shape!). I wish the pad was a bit more flexible, I guess? It wasn't easy at all to pull the wounds closed to really show off the purpose of the stitching.
For the price (which is less than a realistic suture pad by itself), this is worth it for sure.
Cute, but tricky to follow directions on some activities

This is a good-in-theory product. BUT THE DIRECTIONS ARE AWFUL. Plus we unboxed this and everything looked almost most thrown in there. Our 7 year old daughter who dreams of being a vet still finds this fun, but I feel like better instructions would have made a couple of the activities go smoother. For example, the mold of the dog. It doesn't mention that you have to move extremely fast or the plaster will dry before you even have a chance to get it into the mold. We ended up wasting the plaster and couldn't make the dog. The suture pad is cute, but, again, directions are tricky. Overall, it's a cute kit for a vet in training, but it could use a few tweaks.

Stole the show for 10year old at Christmas!
Super engaging and reusable 'stiches' the tick molds made for a lot of giggling (some pranking too)!
Not so good

We just received the item. My daughter super excited. We tried to do the dog and we were carefully following the instructions.... greasing the mold, the water etc...and while mixing the last part of plaster....it because super hard and started to crumble (not a paste at all) and the dog is ruined 😢
Lots of fun
