Comparing the Stanley and NoCry spotlights

As you can see from the video, the Stanley has a more focused beam - concentrating all the light into one spot, which actually makes it seem a bit brighter than the NoCry (not nearly 2.2x as bright as claimed though), but considering the differences in runtime and the waterproof, tough, well balanced, lightweight design of the NoCry model for me the NoCry offers better value.

3rd setting for NoCry 20 hours, which is perfect for in-tent use for example

Excellent light, Excellent Customer Service!

First, this is VERY BRIGHT, in a small, handy package. Five stars EXCEPT to charge it you need heavy tools. Seriously. The back cover needs to be removed, but the silicone "O" ring inside is too tight. The cover could not be removed by hand. Found some channel lock pliers - didn't work, too small. Got out a pipe wrench, and that did the trick. I removed the silicone "O" ring and stored it inside the back cover in case I really need the waterproofing it provides. This has a foldable stand which is a good thought, but the screws holding it on are so insubstantial that they break easily. One screw was already broken on arrival. The other barely holds. I can go back into the garage and tap in some stronger screws. But really, folks, that shouldn't be necessary. I like this light. It does what it should, once you've done the work to charge it and make repairs to factory defects.

UPDATE: Upgrading from 3 to 5 stars. Because minor defects and inconveniences are outweighed by the fact this is really BRIGHT! I took it to the lake to check on the boats at night. It throws a powerful beam that can search the shore from 100 yards out, find the boat ramp, and provide plenty of light for launch and recovery in midnight darkness. It is very comfortable to hold and at 15 oz. easy to carry in a coat pocket. The switch lock keeps it from accidentally turning on in my gear bag. I'm starting to really love this light! Out of curiosity I checked out the battery pack, because of some charging problems others had (which were quickly handled by good customer support). This uses a pack of 4 18500 lithium batteries, rated at 3 amp hours, and easily obtainable online if you needed to make a replacement pack. Manufactured only a few months ago. I don't anticipate any electrical issues and feel confident enough to make this my go-to light for boating.

SECOND EDIT: Nocry reached out to me because of the problems I mentioned, and provided me a new spotlight free of charge. The new spotlight arrived quickly and had none of the problems I mentioned in my first review. Primarily: The back can be removed easily for access to the charger using a normal hand grip - NO TOOLS NEEDED. The problem had been an O-ring which was slightly over-size providing too much friction. That problem has been solved. Kudos to Nocry for their excellent customer service. I will probably be a repeat customer when I need more spotlights in the future.

I previously gave this product 1 Star because the one I received before was inadvertently defective. Raino from NoCry immediately reached out to me by email and with sincere apologies, and promised to send me another Flashlight (Spotlight) when the new batch production was completed. Raino also informed me of the reasons for the defect in the batch production (including the item sent to me); as well as information regarding the steps the company was currently taking to correct such defect. According to Raino, these rigorous steps were necessary in order to ensure that such defect never happens again in future batches. Raino pleaded with me to please exercise some patience while the company undergoes the rigorous processes of production and testing to ensure the highest quality products (i.e. the Spotlight). Throughout the entire processes, Raino kept me constantly updated through periodic emails messages. For example, when the product was completed and the rigorous testing began, I was informed. When the Testing phases were completed, I was also informed. When the finished products were shipped to Amazon, I was informed. And when the replacement Spotlight was shipped by express mail to me, I was informed too. When I received the replacement Spotlight, it exceeded my expectations. It is very bright, with three adjustment levels. I also love the UV filter that comes with it. The product is rugged, durable, and waterproof. Furthermore, what impressed me the most are the company's integrity and outstanding customer service, as provided through Raino. They were simply nonpareil. Second to none. And I very much appreciate that. Even if this replacement Spotlight had turned out to be defective also, I still would have upgraded my review to 5 Stars because of the company high integrity and excellent customer service. Every customer needs a company he/she can depend on, a company that admits its mistakes and takes concrete steps to correct such mistakes, and a company that fulfills its promises. NoCry is such a company! Moreover, NoCry warranties this Spotlight for four years, as indicated in the product description. You can't beat that. Seriously. And based on my experience with Raino, I am confident that NoCry stands by its promises to make things right, if there is a problem with their products. Therefore, I highly recommend this Spotlight. On a side note: I noticed that the company's email address begins with "WeCare@". Yes, NoCry really does care about its products and customers!

Didn't Last Long (UPDATED)

** ORIGINAL REVIEW **

Thought it was a great spotlight when we first received it. It is lightweight, bright, and simple to use. Our 3 year old B&D spotlight is brighter, but the beam is more narrow than the NoCry. The NoCry has a broader beam which is better for approaching the boat dock at night. At only 6 weeks old, our NoCry spotlight no longer turns on. We charged it when we first got it and it worked great. It died after about 2 hours of total use. Put it on the charger for hours, but it still won't work. Not happy that it didn't last long. It's past Amazon's return window and now we have to go through the hassle of a warranty return on a new and barely used item.
** UPDATE **

NoCry reached out to us and replaced our spotlight free of charge. Customer service is definitely 5+ stars. It's nice to see a company that stands behind its product. The replacement spotlight works well, so far. Changing our rating from one star to five stars.
** UPDATE #2 **

The replacement spotlight still works great after several months. It made it through the winter with occasional use on a single charge. My only complaint would be the screw-on cap that protects the changing port. It was difficult to unscrew the cap when we first got it. I went to charge it last weekend and it was impossible to unscrew with my bare hands. I ended up purchasing a strap wrench here on Amazon to unscrew the cap without damaging the spotlight. This is still my favorite spotlight, but it's a little disappointing that I now need a strap wrench around to recharge it. I think a smaller diameter O-ring on the spotlight would resolve the issue.

Originally, I gave this light 5 stars, but after only 3 or 4 uses, it would no longer take a charge. And before this problem, it would only last about 2 hours. I would not purchase this light again due to this.

I really am impressed with this little light, but even more impressed with the company. Right after ordering this I got an email from the company warning me that a batch of these lights were sent out with an undetected defect (that many folks here have complained about). Knowing there might be an issue - and what the company was prepared to do about it - set exactly the right expectation when it arrived. Turned out I did get a bad one. Contacted the company and the next day I had a new one with instructions to just toss the defective one. Talk about great service! The only thing I think I'd change is the switch. It's a 4-way function switch. Meaning High is the first trigger pull, then med, low, off. I'd like there to be a momentary on/off for signaling purposes, but this isn't a signaling light so it doesn't deserve a ding in the rating. Quality/structural integrity seems great. I'll look forward to buying again from a company who cares this much for its customers. Well done.

This company has the best customer service i have ever encountered! And the spotlight is all their ads proclaim. While i have not yet submitted this light to the marine environment for which it was purchased all indications are pointing towards a true winner. I have shaken it and bruised it a bit, simulating the usual boating mis-handling with harry a problem Light, waterproof, long battery life, powerful spot (will see how it picks up those lobster buoys..),3 light levels, red lens cover, charge from 12v/120v and the rest. I set it down and left on for over 5 hrs and recharged in 4hrs from 12v. The li-ion battery should hold a good charge during stowage. All in all i believe this will be a winner for me.

Had a return issue which was resolved virtually instantly, pleasantly and quite fairly for sure! Finestkind!

The NoCry 18w light is well with the money ! Worth even more is the flawless service they provide to the customer in the event of any problems. I recently purchased a light and was impressed with how much intensity it provided in such a small sized case. I have owned larger , higher intensity beams at a much higher price that don't compare to the NoCry.

I read the guarantee of the light replacement they have posted online re: some lights that made it past inspection without being caught so I was skeptical before purchasing. Upon receipt of the light I was totally satisfied with the product and used it a couple of times to assure that it didn't have a problem. On about the fourth time that I used it , it worked perfectly, however, when I turned it off and tried to turn it back in, it didn't work. I notified NoCry and was told a replacement would be sent to me.

The replacement arrived within three days and worked perfectly. I was going to return the original light but decided to put it on the charger to see if it would have an impact and the light began working again !

I now have two lights and will give one to my son. I have contacted NoCry to pay for the second light but have been told to keep it.

While I would prefer to pay since both work properly, I have nothing but praise for NoCry , the quality of the light and their quick, professional followup service . I highly recommend that anyone in the market for a spotlight consider NoCry first and foremost. They have a customer for life in me !!

I received this light that I thought was great. after a week I got a notice from amazon telling me that if I recharge this light once it may not work after. I tested it recharge it and it died on me. I notified Amazon that my lamp belongued to a bad batch. Two days later I had another lamp shipped ..........Whaou what a service!!..................the only problem the second lamp that I received after two charges died the same way as the first one,,,,,,,,,,,,Then I am ticked because this happened during a fishing trip in the boones with noway to replace it. My statement is that lamp has a problem it is for me a piece of junk or what ever they send me belonged to the same batch that did not work I am now the sad owner of two lamps that look great..........and DO NOT WORK. Next time I am buying a Home Depot

Best Flashlight I've Ever Had

As some others mentioned, I too initially received a defective product. But I really wouldn't let that stop you from ordering, because the customer service is fantastic. They immediately sent me a replacement which I received 2 days later and they were very friendly to deal with. The replacement has given me no trouble and I actually came back to Amazon tonight to order a second one so I can have two, but they're currently out of stock.

This flashlight/spotlight is perfect for my needs in every way. I live in the woods and I wanted something to keep by the door so when I hear sounds in the yard I can see what's out there, and also to keep sight of my dog when I need to let her out at night to do her business. It's brighter than I could have imagined and it really does shine WAY out into the woods. I have already used it to spot deer as they pass through the trees when my other flashlights would never have illuminated them at that distance.

The features are amazing, it's comfortable to hold, I now prefer this trigger style over a traditional flashlight, it's much more ergonomic. It's not as big as it seems in the photos, it's a nice manageable size. It has a nice rubberized feel so rests securely on the edge of the counter and doesn't get tipped over. The pull-out stand is great to set it down at an angle, but also good to use as a handle if your hands are full; I've carried in bags of groceries at night and can slip my fingers right through the stand and carry it that way.

There's three settings with the lowest similar to a traditional flashlight; you trigger through from brightest to lowest, but once you settle on your preferred setting, it then simply triggers OFF when you're ready instead of cycling through, which is convenient. I haven't found any use yet for the locking feature, which prevents it from turning off, since it stays on even after you remove your finger from the trigger to begin with, but better to have it and not need it then the other way around. *Edited to Add*: I discovered a use for the locking feature after all! I traveled with it and realized the lock will prevent it from turning ON accidentally while being tossed around in a travel bag.

I love that it comes with a wall charger AND a car charger! I live very remotely and lose power very often, so I have an array of lanterns and gadgets on hand for outages. This is going to be my go-to light now because it's so bright, and also because I can set it down on a counter upside down (so that it faces upward toward the ceiling) and it lights up the whole room, it's fantastic. And with the car charger, I can re-charge it in my car or using my portable power station if there's no electricity. It stays charged for longer than I expected too.

If I had one complaint, it would be that the orange filter doesn't attach to the unit unless it's in use, so you'd have to carry it with you separately if you don't want to use it immediately. Another reviewer suggested they design it so that the filter screws onto the back end of the unit, which I think would be a great improvement. But I don't expect to use the filter very often, so it's not a big deal.

I was hesitant to order this after reading about the batch of defective products, but the company responded so well that now I am 100% confident ordering a second one as soon as they come back in stock! Oh, and no more buying batteries!!!
