Great halogen bulb replacement

I've just received these LED bulbs and have used them to replace the 12V 35W halogen bulbs in my backyard Volt landscape lights. Volt wanted about $15 per bulb. I got these for $28 for a box of six. So far they have worked great, no complaints. The lighting is better than expected. I don't know what the long term results will be going forward, so I will keep my eye on them. Volt has a lifetime warranty on their LED bulbs, which could make a difference. Time will tell.

Great replacement for landscape bulbs!

Last year I decided to make the switch to LEDs in my landscape lights. Now a days it is easier than ever with direct replacement bulbs vs buying all new fixtures. I read a bunch of reviews on what to look for to have a comparable halogen appearance: a warm white light and around 2700K. I jumped on line, found what I thought I wanted with that description (a different bulb than these) for the absolute cheapest price and purchased them. They were definitely more white than I was used. One is seen in one of the photos above of the tree up close (the one tree in the back has the new Alide bulb as a comparison).

After a year of living with the other LEDs I started to wonder if I needed to spend the $12/bulb that I had seen on a professional landscape page. I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much $ so I searched again and came across these Alide MR16s. I decided to give them a try based on the limited reviews but all positive! Plus the fact that I would receive 6 bulbs for the price of 2 from another site was a definite win - that is if they would provide the look I wanted. When they arrived, I decided to replace all 6 lights that night. Most had the other LEDs but a couple still had the old halogens... I now know what they mean by LEDs run cool because you can come close to burning your fingers trying to replace a halogen bulb that has been running for a short time. As soon as I put the first Alide bulb in, I knew it was what I was looking for in color. I used to have 20w halogens and they look very similar to them. They do appear to be a little brighter (maybe closer to a 30w halogen) but I like it even more. After testing them out last week, I placed another order to replace 6 more lights. The only thing I can't comment on is how long they will last. However at the current price, I'm not too worried at this point.
(The photos don't really do the lights justice - if you are looking for that halogen look, these will definitely give you that.)

brighter is better

My intention was to replace our landscape lighting as required, but when I saw the difference these lights made in our application, I decided to replace all the lights that illuminate our drive, so I had to purchase a second set of six. I think these lights are well made and the use of the clear Fresnel lens as opposed to white, translucent plastic made a big difference. My old lights were 120° and these are 32° or 36°, but since the Fresnel lens disperses some of the tighter spot the resulting beam is wider. So, for the same 5 watts, I get more light. I hesitate to write reviews on LEDs since part of their value is in longevity. These lights have been in use for 3 days, so time will tell. So far - so good.

Pleasant and bright, a must have upgrade for your outdoor lighting

My outdoor system game with classic bulbs, which I loved the soft, not too hard white glow. I was worried to switched to LED because I never loved the bright fake white almost blue looks, but these are the best of both worlds. High quality. All bulbs worked. Highly recommend them (and switching to LEDs let's you add more light on a single system, and less power use is great for something that runs as often as outdoor lighting)

Bright and clear

We purchased these lights for our landscape lighting in the front of our home, along with 7w lights to see which would look better. We ended up using the 7w in all but a few of them for a more dramatic effect, using the 5w for the plants and areas that didn't require as bright of emphasis. We have had them on for about a month now from dusk until dawn, with maybe a dollar increase in our electric bill!

I like the low watts

I like the low watts. My wife likes the warm color and bright light.

We bought a set of these, and liked them so much we purchased another set. We use them over a wet bar, and in a hallway where they are pointed at pictures.

We did have one little issue with the infrared switches when we installed all LED's. The current was so low that the lights didn't turn off completely. When I left one halogen bulb in, this issue went away. Of course, I could have upgraded our infrared switches, but this would be tricky and somewhat expensive. To be clear, this issue was not the fault of the bulbs. I tell you about it only so you'll have an idea what to do if you have the same issue.

Perfect for Landscape lighting

Bought these to replace the MR-16 bulbs I use to illuminate the various trees on my front yard. These provide the exact amount of warm white color as the original halogens (2700) but at a fraction of the watts (5w). The beam angle of 38 is perfect for various applications to provide the right effect whether it's to highlight a wall, column or trees. Not to wide and not too narrow. It's very good quality with no flickering or the blue light you get from cheaper LEDs. My landscaper wanted to charge me $25 per bulb (his cost), but got these for under $5 per bulb. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Good value, nice color

I demand the warm yellow color for the landscape lights in my yard, and theses have it. They work well, but I don't think they will last thousands of hours like advertised. I have bought plenty on Amazon and maybe even these before. They will last a few years and at the same price as halogen and cheaper energy costs, they are a deal. With LED you can also get many more lights on the same transformer.

We had ONE bulb go out...the Volt bulb...from our 6 outside lights, which light up the front of our home.

The Volts were so expensive that I found these...and for MUCH LESS cost. I replaced the ONE BULB with this brand and my husband liked them so much he replaced all 6 with them. Much brighter and a better color of light. Excellent price as well. I had read that Volt bulbs have a lifetime warranty, but when I contacted Volt, it was going to be such a hassle to get one bulb, that it wasn't worth my time and effort. Glad we found these.

I'm using these in outdoor, in ground light fixtures. They work fine and have a nice thick aluminum reflector/heat sink. I only have had one problem so far - a fixture leaked and it's lamp died. I disassembled the lamp and found that the driver board and solder connections did not have a conformal coating on them and the traces and other metallic components had corroded. The web page for the lamps mentions use in landscape fixtures, but in the absence of a coating, the lamps will probably not reach their intended lifetime.
