Product Description

An extremely versatile tool, Damn Good UV Glue Liquid Plastic Weld can be used for repairs, part fabrication, electronics potting, jewelry making, crafts, plastic welding and tacking, fly tying, and more. A strong UV curable glue, Damn Good UV glue cures in seconds with the proper UV light source.

Our UV plastic weld glue cures by exposing the glue to a 395nm LED UV light source. (A 365nm UV LED light will work too, but 395nm is recommended.) It remains a liquid until the UV light is applied, which makes it great for repositioning and ensuring the part is where you want it to be before gluing it in place. Technically a liquid plastic, when cured with a UV light it forms a hard plastic that creates a strong, lasting bond.

Repairs
Damn Good UV glue is an excellent choice for making repairs to plastic, wood, metal, glass and more. Simply roughen the surfaces to be joined with a nail file or sandpaper, apply the UV plastic weld glue, shine the UV light onto the liquid UV glue until cured. Applying multiple thin layers will work better for creating a better bond and will shorten the cure time.

Fabrication
As a fabrication tool, the UV glue is excellent for creating hard to find parts or pieces that don’t exist. By either hand forming or using a pre-made form, apply the liquid plastic glue, expose the liquid UV material to the proper UV light source until fully cured. Once cured, sand, file and shape your part until you’ve reached the desired shape, look or function.

Tip: for fabricating an existing part, form its shape by pressing it into a piece of modeling clay or silly putty, then gently pull out the existing part and you now have a form mold.

Plastic Welding
Typical plastic welding is usually conducted in one of two methods. The first mimics metal welding in that it uses a heat source to chemically join two objects by using a filler material as the connecting agent. The second method is done by using a soldering iron to melt the plastic material pushing forward to create a “stitching” process that joins the two pieces together. This method is really only effective in fixing breaks in plastic.

A new method of plastic welding is achieved through the use of our UV glue liquid plastic weld. Simply apply the liquid plastic to the crack, hole, or gap, then expose the liquid plastic to the proper UV light source until fully cured. Again, multiple thin layers may be necessary for larger gaps and for proper curing.

Tacking, a common practice in traditional welding, can also be accomplished with our UV plastic weld. In a situation where you need to use both hands to apply and cure the glue, you can tack the two pieces together first. Be sure to apply and cure enough tack spots to keep the pieces together until you’ve completed the plastic weld with the UV glue.

Potting
If you’re familiar with the potting process for electronics, you’ll simply follow the same general procedure, using our UV glue instead of epoxy. Remember; multiple thinner layers, curing with the UV light between layers, will cure faster than a single thicker layer.

Water & Plumbing
Our UV glue plastic weld is a great item to have around in case of plumbing emergencies that require a quick repair, until you can get the part you need, or the plumber arrives. The UV glue is waterproof and can even be applied in water. It’s also great for pool liner and inflatable pool toy repairs.
