Pill pockets gave me another year with my beloved puppy

My beloved 13-year-old Silky Terrier passed away recently after a long illness. I cannot imagine how taking care of her and keeping her comfortable for the last year would have been possible without these Pill Pockets. She had to take 7 pills every morning and 7 in the evening 5 days a week and 8 in the evening 2 days a week. (She had multiple diseases, one disease leading to another to another to another.) She loved her pill pockets even when she would not feel like eating her meal. The pockets were large enough so that I could break two of them up into enough pieces so that I could easily wrap each capsule, pill, or two small pills into each piece. Fortunately, she just swallowed them whole without chewing, so she thought they were great treats. I've had dogs in the past that would take and eat the treat (pill pocket) and the capsule/pill would just casually fall out of the mouth.

Great for difficult pill taking dogs

Our Great Pyrenees recently underwent knee surgery. He had to take a bunch of pills for an extended period of time and he is horrible about taking anything. In the past, when I shove the pill down his throat he was able to cough it up, but now, I wrap a pill pocket around them, and they slide right down. For those who have difficult pets, these work great if you make sure you shove it in the back of their throat and hold there neck up a bit until they swallow. He won't take anything for a treat, as he views everything as suspect...thinking we have put pills in it. These have made a difficult situation easy.

These are just so expensive...I started using the Costco pill pockets at the pharmacy there. They're harder to work with but we dispense about 30 pills a day - and the dogs don't mind. The price needs to come down on these - that manufacturer is taking advantage.... I have paid several thousand dollars for this product both at petco and Kahoots as well as online - I just had to put my foot down.

I have been purchasing pill pockets for years for our dogs from a host of vendors. It seems like no matter who I purchase them from the past 2 or 3 years they have been becoming tougher and tougher. But these pill pockets I just purchased from amazon at long last feel soft, fresh and malleable. It is an incentive to use this vendor again. Perhaps I had been purchasing the lowest price and worst freshness. I AM EDITING THIS REVIEW. LESS THAN A MONTH LATER THEY ARE UP $2.00 A PACKAGE. IN A MONTH???? MAYBE I HAVE TO LOOK FOR AN AFFORDABLE VENDOR....

Order issues and a flavor that my dogs don't care for

These are my dogs least favorite.

My first order came with one of the bags popped open. You could tell by the way they were wrapped that the shipper intentionally sent damaged product. The second pouch that wasn't damaged was noticeably stale.

When the replacement came the pill pockets were moist and chewy as expected. Of all flavors, these take a little coaxing to get my dogs to even try and eat them. One of my dogs will eat just about anything and he turns his head away when I try and give it to him. I will be switching back to the hickory flavor next time around.

Our dog has to receive one pill in the morning and one in the evening for allergies. No longer do we have to open his mouth, force a pill inside his mouth, make sure he swallows and feel bad about doing it. Like a kid racing to get candy, when our dog sees a pill pocket in front of him immediately accepts it as a treat. I wish the pill pockets were cheaper but it is worth the cost to know our dog gets his medication and to no longer have to fight with him to get a pill down his throat. Recommend pill pockets for anyone with a pet needing medication.

Dogs Think Its Just A Treat.

So I have a pup that can sniff out "meds" of any kind and literally spits it out of everything I've ever tried to hide it in. He has allergies, so I have no choice but to give him pills daily, twice a day. When my Vet introduced me to Pill Pockets, Hickory flavor, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. No more fighting to get it down his throat. The smell alone catches his attention immediately, so while I am molding this little tasty treat around the capsule, he is drooling in anticipation. Thank you Greenies for making my life just that much easier!!

I cannot say enough good things about these. I tried cheese, liverwurst, etc. to give my dogs their pills, and they'd fight me every step of the way. Someone told me about Pill Pockets, and they've been WONDERFUL! I have three dogs, and they all gobble them down so quickly, they don't realize there are pills inside. I did notice that they seem to like the chicken flavor much better than the peanut butter. HIGHLY recommended!

My 3 dogs LOVE LOVE LOVE these pill pockets! And they are super moist and the dogs like the taste! I have 2 dogs that get morning meds - I use 1 pocket, and split it 3 ways - each "piece of the pocket" envelopes a pill, and the 3rd piece is just so my baby girl doesn't feel left out when the other two get their morning "treat". I've tried the other brands - and this one - hands down - wins the first place ribbon in our house!

Pill Pockets help manage my life with aging dogs

Need it. The only way I can get the dogs to take pills. Unless I have sliced cheese on hand, but these are much neater and more efficient to use. If you have a toothless old dog, these are great to use with pills you've powdered with your mortar and pestle. If they get dry in the bag, just add some the cooking oil of your choice and shake the bag. Voila! Or add a few drops to your powdered pills before tossing in a pill pocket or two and grinding it all together.
