Excellent vocal pick-up for clear and accurate audio at a fraction of the cost of major brands.

If you were to tell me this cheap no-brand lavalier would perform on par, or better than, lavalier's that cost 10x to 100x the cost - I wouldn't have believed you. But I'm hear to report, this lavalier sounds incredible.

I read many reviews, and listened to many samples of reviews on YouTube, and always came back to this lapel mic. Right now I'm using it by plugging directly into a dSLR camera. I also use a 16' extension mic cord for longer reaches. Speaking of, make sure you use a microphone cable and not a headphone extension. The headphone extension does not have shielding for interference. The mic cable does. But you will have to pay more (actually, the mic cable cost me more than this lapel mic). :-)

I got the stereo version (which simply splits the mono signal to both channels) so I didn't have to do that step in post-production.

The pickup is strong with minimal background noise and cord handling noise. The quality of the audio is true and accurate for vocals, and makes for a fantastic interview mic.

However, before purchasing, make sure you check which Pro JM lapel mic you are buying. There are many versions on Amazon, and the reason for this is the external plug. Each plug has a very specific purpose to fit a specific type of plug. Buy with the right connector and it works. But with the wrong connector and it won't work. Read first. Purchase responsibly.

the exact right inexpensive lav for the zoom h1

This is the right mic for a Zoom H1. It provides both channels so you don't have to take care of that in post, and it sounds just as good as its mono versions. You don't give anything up and don't even have to adjust your normal input levels using this in place of the mono version. It's perfect.

Durable Mic

I just got this puppy yesterday and I'm stoked because I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how to capture audio in a wedding when there is no soundboard or if I'm in the back of a room, far from a subject. I did some research and came across the Tascam DR-05 recorder TASCAM DR-05 Portable Digital Recorder (Version 2)
. I watched youtube video prodcut reviews to actually hear what the sound, sounded like and I was blown away. The price of this things was amazing as well, I couldn't pass on it. I got it yesterday and for someone who has never had a voice recorder before or a lapel mic, the controls were pretty intuitive. I did some sample recording and the sound was very crisp and clear. I have a wedding coming up in June and I can't wait to use this puppy.

The build is lightweight and you can barely tell it's there. It came with 2 (two) windscreens which was nice. Only thing is I wish there was a carrying case for the mic. I don't want to damage it by stashing it in my camera bag, maybe I can just put it in it's original packaging. The cord is nice a long for any subject to have in there back pocket, side pocket, or coat pocket.

Buy this thing today and you won't be disappointed.

Not a pro mic, but close enough to clean up.
by Cre8tv (3 out of 5 stars)

I used this in conjunction with my Audio Technica broadcast lapel mic (35 years in pro video). It has noticeably more noise, and is muffled in comparison. I was able to remove almost all the noise in Adobe Audition, and use the Channel EQ in Final Cut Pro X to make a very close comparison (when I clipped both mics on together and recorded the same source). Close enough that I don't fear using the mic for pro work now that I have a process to clean it up. It's a spare I keep in the bag in case something breaks.

I bought the Rode XLR adapter for it. Not a tight fit, but I tape it in and it doesn't click or buzz. Likes 24v phantom, but goes silent with no phantom or 48v phantom.

Great Buy

This is the second time I have ordered this lav lapel mic, they work great!

I would recommend investing in some windshield covers as the ones that come with this mic come off very easy... these are the ones i am currently using without issue: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013P1HKN0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&tag=c-t-20

This is an excellent microphone for the price

This is an excellent microphone for the price. I did a side-by-side test against some similar mics I've had and liked for a while. This was much better for a similar cost. There are two things I noticed that I really liked about this from an audio perspective:
1. The EQ curve on it is very nice for voice. It will even work well when clipped to the middle of the collar of a crew neck t-shirt. A lot of mics will get muffled there.
2. It had pretty nice gain which helps keep the noise floor down. I have a bunch of iFP-795/iFP-895/899 recorders and this mic will breathe new life into them because of the lowered noise floor compared to an Zoom H1. This works really well with the H1.

Very happy with this. May buy more for movie audio.

Disappointed
by Faheem (2 out of 5 stars)

I was very impressed with the build of this mic as well as other reviews. Very sadly, the sound was plain muffled in any test that I did. I was fortunate to come across the Giant Squid lav, which in my opinion, is the best you can get in budget lavs. So of course this mic could not compete. Maybe if I hadn't had the GS I may have come to a different conclusion. All I can say is, this lav does not deliver a useable sound for recordings. Maybe at best it can be used for personal dictation if you are okay with it. But then, there are similar priced options like Audio Technica battery powered mics that sound useable for recordings, so what is the point. My advice is to skip all the lower end options all together, and go for a Giant Squid lav ($50 on Amazon right now) or a RĂ˜DE smartlav+ w/ TRS adapter (about $70 all together on Amazon) if you are looking for good audio to be used for published videos or podcasts.

Great audio quality, until it wasn't
by N. Seitz (3 out of 5 stars)

Overall I am really satisfied with this mic. However, after a few weeks of fairly consistent use the microphone started popping, sounding like there was a fault somewhere in the mic line (sudden bursts / popping / cracking sounds). I coiled the mic line around my recorder when not in use, so I'm willing to concede that this was my fault. However, I always took care to not stress the line by pulling the microphone cord taut when wrapping, so I'm a bit skeptical of the construction quality of this mic.

That said, I've ordered another Pro JK brand mic because they're affordable and useful. Very good quality while it worked.

Nice little mic

I have been using another lav mic into my Tascam DR-05 digital recorder, but the connector broke and I found myself in need of a replacement. After doing some research I kept seeing this little mic recommended, so though I would give it a try.

I am glad I did.

The gain is very good, rejection is decent, and sound quality only needed a little adjustment in my DAW when recording in an untreated room. Nice little mic.

Does Great Job for an Even Better Price
by Zach (5 out of 5 stars)

I purchased two of these in the last 6 months for professional commercial video production. I needed to capture quality audio interview-style on the go for marketing material. I used these Lapel mics plugged directly into a ZOOM H1N as well as with Sennheiser SK100G3-B transmitter/receiver running into a TASCAM DR-04 recorder and both set-ups worked like a charm.

The audio quality from this little mic was superb, especially for the price I paid. There are so many lapel mics on the market that are 10x the price. The audio quality in high wind was surprising as well, but I was using a pretty hefty lapel wind muff that I purchased separately.

I really don't have much bad to say about this mic. If you want a quick and cheap solution, this is the lapel microphone for you.
