This is the Correct Filter for the 2.7L Ecoboost on the F-150
by Ben W (5 out of 5 stars)
January 19, 2017

I guess I'll be the 100th guy to say it: This is in fact, as per the F-150 manual, the correct oil filter for the 2015-2016 2.7L. I don't know why Amazon hasn't updated it yet, especially since the filter they say is the correct fit is the wrong fit. Anyway, FL2062 is correct.

Upper O-rings are super easy. Lower O-ring comes off easy with a tool, but it can be a bit of a pain to get the new one on. I just did the first oil change on my 2016 and I sent that little sucker flying at least three times before I finally worked it over the "nose" of the filter shaft. The housing tightens down to only 18 ft lbs, which if you don't have a torque wrench, just means don't overtighten it.

A few tips if you're doing your oil change for the first time (applies to the F-150):
1) Find yourself a drill driver with an 8mm socket to remove the heat shield. It's a total pain to do it with a socket wrench (ask me how I know) but it's a very quick and easy on-off with a power driver.
2) The drain plug is a funky plastic contraption that only turns 120 deg, and you can actually even remove it with your fingers. Be prepared for oil to shoot out in a giant stream! Have a large pan available, and you might want to hold it up with one hand the first time you do it to catch the oil and so you can see where proper pan placement is so you don't get oil over everything.
3) Note that if you just turned the engine off before you pulled the plug, you'll need to wait a good 20-30 minutes for the oil to drain. It takes that long for the oil to slowly work its way back down the heads to the pan. There's actually a TSB out on it because dealer techs weren't waiting long enough and were overfilling the engine (because it also takes a good twenty minutes after you put the new oil in to get a proper reading on the stick as well).

If someone is looking to change their oil in their 2015 2.7l EcoBoost V6 F-150, YES, this is an OEM filter for that engine. Amazon tells me that it doesn't fit the 2.7l but yes it does, so if you're looking for an oil filter, don't go by what Amazon tells you, YES, this is your filter for your 2015 2.7l EcoBoost V6.

Cheap Copy from Ford
by Thomas lveill (1 out of 5 stars)

I just replaced the oil filter that was bought on amazon. there was paint from the o-ring all over the filter housing... I went to my Ford dealer to buy a real OEM filter and there is no paint on the o-ring. You just need to stretch it to see the paint flaking. I use an oil filter to catch the debris in the oil and not adding some. If the o-ring are that cheap, I doubt that the filter it self is better. Will buy it from Ford next time.

Lower O-Ring Difficulty
by Corey K. Krueger (4 out of 5 stars)

I, too, just did my first oil change on my 2018 Lincoln MKX 2.7L turbo. I watched numerous YouTube videos so I knew what I was up against. The only difficulty was getting the small o-ring off/on on the bottom of the canister stem. I purposely went out and bought some mechanic's picks, as suggested, to make the job easier. The small one came off not too badly, mainly because it was stiff and dry, and actually just broke in half after a bit due to the pick piercing it. No big deal as it gets thrown away anyway. I struggled trying to get the new o-ring on. I don't think trying to do it while holding it with one hand and using the pick with the other is the way to go. I poked myself twice with the pick trying to slide/force the o-ring downward. I then held the canister down on a tabletop for support with a rag underneath and then began to tug the ring down. Finally, I got it over the bulge and it went right into place! You do have to use some good force to stretch it and slide it at the same time. I think I was trying to be too gentle with it initally. The new one is soft and pliable so you can toy with it without worry, I think. If you are using a pick, don't piece the ring with the point of the pick. Make sure the sharp point is always below the ring itself so you don't damage/weaken it. If I can do the oil change, anybody can!

Great price, Great Filter, Great Buy

I love how 1 person gave this 4 stars... really?? lol.

Anyways, OEM fit for the 2.7l EcoBoost in my 2016 F-150. Comes with 3 new O-rings too! (Replace them every time - mine are always falling apart every time I change the oil at 5,000 miles).

Cant beat the Amazon Prime price of under $8 shipped either. Cant go wrong with Motorcraft OEM parts either.

Perfect fit(it better be

Perfect fit(it better be!)

Exact OEM filter for my 2015 F150 XL, Turbocharged 2.7L EcoBoost engine. Good price, auto parts chain stores are more expensive.

Disregard Mfg. Oil change recommended interval of 10,000 miles, Be safe- Change oil & Filter at 5,000 miles. A little extra expense, but better for your engine and Turbo's. I just order a couple each of the Oil and Air filters (to have enough ordered for free shpg) and you're set for at least a year -Just add Oil!

Ford 2.7 EcoBoost Oil Filter

Fits F150 2.7L EcoBoost perfectly. Goofy red paint on O-rings? Love the position of the filter housing on this engine. It take 5 minutes to replace the filter without crawling under the truck.

More peace of mind going with OEM
by Ray Joseph Posos (5 out of 5 stars)
February 14, 2017

I typically don't go with OEM on maintainance items like oil filters and air filters, but because of the style of filter my truck uses and the fact that more can go wrong when switching out the cartridge filter (and the O-rings) compared to a spin on type I trust the manufacturers brand more. I've had no issues.
