Rubber for CCW / Grit for Dutyby Spiritual Shooter (5 out of 5 stars)
September 21, 2015
Every gun I own gets a set. The rubber is best for carry. The tough grip tape version is on my duty gun. It's rough but the grip is unstoppable!
For the extended mag people, go on Talons website, you can buy extra grip material for $2
Awesome Grip!

I find the G43 to be an ideal CCW pistol. It has 3 tactical drawbacks in my opinion. The first is the grip. I have huge hands and can only get 1 1/2 fingers around the grip with a standard 6 round magazine. Obviously, I can't shoot the gun very well in that configuration.
The second is magazine capacity. 6+1? Come on! I might as well carry a K6S. Taran Tactical solves the first two flaws with their mag extensions.
The third issue is that it is a slippery gun. Not good when firing hot ammo in a defensive situation, especially when you may not get the best grip on the gun when drawing in a panic.
Thanks to Talon's granular wrap, this third and final flaw is solved! A range test today resulted in a 3" 5 shot group at 10yds while holding the pistol halfway down the grip with a Taran +2 extension on the mag! I would like to see Talon make precut wraps for the Taran mag extensions.
My evaluation is backed by 4 years of military training and an FAA cert as an Aircraft Mechanic. I know guns and I have worked with a lot of high tech adhesives. I expect this wrap to last through a decade or more of near daily carry and weekly range use.
Just what I needed for my Glock 43!

I love that these grips add exactly what I needed to make gripping my Glock 43 better. The lack of aggressive stippling on the G43 made it difficult to shoot and keep accurate because I always had to adjust my grip after each shot. The granular Talon grips lock the gun into the hand and are actually really comfortable.
As for carrying the gun with the granular grips... It's not an issue for me. I do carry with an undershirt on everyday, so the abrasive grip doesn't give me any issues, but directly against the skin, I would absolutely go with the rubber grips versus the granular.
Installation was easy, and they seem really solid. I've been very happy with mine so far, which is about 3 months of use.
Awesome product! Fits perfectly if you take your time ...

Awesome product! Fits perfectly if you take your time and follow instructions carefully. I wore latex gloves as to not contaminate sticky surface or the surface of the gun which should be cleaned and degreased thoroughly before applying. I used an infrared cooking thermometer and a basic hair dryer to cure it. Take your time placing the product before you remove backing, have a plan to lay it out. Also, there is a slight overhang if done correctly, I used an old credit card to make a straight edge against the down layer and a razor blade to cut away the small excess which left an invisible seam and now it looks like one piece.

So, I'll preface with saying I am a newer shooter. I watched a lot of videos by Hickok45 on YouTube. He swears by these grips and specifically the 100G version. I purchased my G43 about a year and a half ago and rather than purchasing the 100G version of this product, I went with the rubber option. It was nice, installed well but I personally suffer from SSHS (Seriously Sweaty Hands Syndrome) I noticed I would have to adjust my grip often while shooting, in addition it made it a little difficult to draw my weapon from holster because I couldn't quite get a great grip on it.
Finally, a year and change later I decided to pull off the rubber option and picked up this one. What a difference!!! As soon as my pistol is in my hand, I get the right grip and I KEEP it. Sweat is no match for grip tape... it's a great product, installed flawlessly and sticks well. I didn't have any issues with peeling or loss of sticky-ness on the last one I purchased, I don't expect I would have the same. I'm sure this grip will lag at least a year + before I have to replace. Talon is a great company and provide yet again another great product.
A small modification and works great with LaserGuard installed! An improvement for large or small ha

While I had to make a slight modification to accommodate the Crimson Trace Laserguard, the small piece I had to cut-out to clear the activation button was then useful on the "front" of the LaserGuard where my left index finger sometimes wraps around. Time will tell if this affects the calibration of the laser, 200 rounds through and it's stayed zeroed.
Pictured is the stock 6-round magazine with grip extension. In this configuration the Talon grips make even greater difference than they do when using an extended +2 or +3 magazine.
Take the time during install to heat and press to tighter form several times, this looks like it will hold for many years.

I purchased this on April 1 2018. I installed it end of April 2018. The gun has seen about 1500 live rounds and probably 250 dry fires. Those are important when figuring out wear and tear too. It sits in my holster and comes out for range and cleaning. 13 months later I've worn a hole in it. Great grips at first. Lots of compliments on the draw. Felt good in humid conditions and dry conditions.
I'll give it 3 stars because I dont want to give a horrible rating but the longevity is questionable. They do have a 90 day warranty but I would think for someone who uses the gun a lot you'll ne ripping through these every 3 months.
I have the rubber one on another gun. It is doing ok.
TALON Grips - My Thoughts

I think this is a good addition to any polymer handgun. Polymer handguns have a tendency to be a tad slick on the grip which can cause a myriad of problems shooting as well as holstering and de-holstering the weapon. This grip tape seems to solve that and looks cool to boot. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the fit on the weapon. You can see from the pics that other people have posted that the fit is definitely not perfect. I have gaps here and there on mine where the fit just wasn't what it should have been. Not too bad mind you and probably not noticeable to anyone but me, but for a $20 piece of sticky tape pad I just thought it should have been a bit better on the die-cut. Having said that, I certainly don't regret buying it and feel like it's a much better solution (for me, anyway) than a rubber grip glove. I'm going to try it on a couple of my other guns...hopefully the fit will be a little bit better.

When I looked at them on the picture, I was as skeptical as any of you G43 owners are, "I paid $600 for the gun and this little sticker is supposed to work?" Trust me they do.
Installation. They give you an alcohol wipe to get any oil or dirt off the grip, then you have to place it on the gun starting with one side and wrapping it around the other. This took me 10 minutes to get right, because I am a stickler for having it look as best as it can, but the rest of the way around was simple. It's like putting a vinyl wrap on a car or window tint in a vehicle; if you're not a moron and can work it on and get out any bubbles or wrinkles, its hard to tell its not stippled. Then you heat it with a heat gun or blow dryer to get the adhesive to really take hold. Easy.
Functionality. It legit makes your grip on the gun 10 times better than stock. If you have larger hands like me and felt like the G43 was like handling the dainty hand of the queen, the drips make it feel like shaking hands with an old friend. I haven't been out to shoot it yet, but hopefully it will also increase accuracy upon firing.
Great Product. I will put them on every gun I own; you will not be disappointed.
Great grip!

Best decision other than buying the G43. This grip is awesome! I bought the rubber feel grip and put it on exactly as instructed. The alcohol wipe held up and I was able to thoroughly wipe the surface several times before it dried up.
Take the time to wrap it around the gun before you remove the film over the adhesive and learn how to line it up. It has every groove and notch accounted for with the shape and goes on easily. I ran a hair dryer over mine three times to heat it and press it on with increasing pressure and attention to the edges. Sealed down like it was from the factory and added a bit of extra hold for my Glock 43.
Showed it to my Dad who has hands like bear paws and I ended up buying him one as well!
