Stopped working after 10 uses....

We have another Braun thermometer that we have had for 24 YEARS and it still works....after three children and two adults use. We needed another thermometer so I went with this one, because we have had such great luck with the other one.

We have used this thermometer maybe 10 times since we bought it, and it has already stopped working. The screen and light just keep flashing. We have changed the batteries, changed the lens cover, nothing works.

We take excellent care of our things and keep our medical items in a plastic bin with a lid in the hall closet. There is no reason on our end for this failure. We are very disappointed in this thermometer. Just FYI, this thermometer is made in Mexico
***UPDATE*** I contacted Braun and let them know that the thermometer stopped working. They had us ship it back to them and they sent us a new one at no cost. This process took a couple of weeks. Customer service was good. I opened up the new one and took my temperature 5x in each ear...and every single reading was different ranging from 96.1 to 98.2. So, the new one they sent me doesn't seem to read correctly. At this point, If I could give this thermometer ZERO STARS, I would. BUYER BEWARE. C'mon Braun, get your act together. You used to make good products. What happened? I guess Braun is just not a name I can trust anymore. This is a medical device that people rely on to be accurate, and for some, an incorrect reading might cause them some health issues, not knowing they have a fever. Not good...

I didn't think my son had a 104 fever so I tried the thermometer on me and it read 107.8. Absolute garbage.

As a pediatric nurse these are my go to thermometer for baby shower gifts. Work so much nicer and faster than any oral or axillary thermometer. I don't like temperal scans, don't trust them. Now with this one you do have to be sure you have it in correctly to get a proper reading. If you are in doubt do it two or three times and take the highest number! It's super quick so the kids can sleep through it too. I did only four stars because I feel like the instructions on use could have pictures or quick steps for new parents.

Beware - You can't return this!! I had my last one for only a short time (maybe two years?) and it stopped working abruptly. Bought another one and it didn't work from the get go. Tried to return it 15 days after buying and it is "not returnable"... What? Why?? DO not buy!! So temperamental. When you need an accurate temp for a little one you need something you can trust!!

I thought this was amazing for the first few months I owned it. It's far and away better and more accurate than a forehead thermometer. It's the easiest type to use on a baby or toddler. However, I've found it increasingly inaccurate. I can get a 2 degree difference between ears, and often take the average of 5 tries, rather than trusting one. It doesn't sound like a big deal but when your son has a fever of 104, you need to know every point is accurate. I'd be curious to know if anyone found an ear thermometer that was more accurate than this one.

Do not waste your money, it doesn't work

I never leave a negative review on my orders but I wish I could give 0 stars to this product, but there is no option for that, long story short this is the worst product I've ever bought for my baby, for the first time once we wanted to use it as my baby had fever, it started giving errors then we changed the batteries as my husband thought that could be the issue, then it started working by giving us wrong temperature numbers & we freaked out ( let me mention it it was 4 o clock in the morning) & had to go head & check his bodies temperature with a old regular one we had & got a correct answer.

We ordered this by checking the reviews, so my suggestion is do not trust others reviews & waste your money on this trash

Always good to have a thermometer on hand. Two years after buying this one, I needed it. Consistent readings every time: POS, POS, POS...I changed the batteries -- POS, POS. I took the batteries out and pushed all the butttons to discharge any capacitance--POS, POS. I left the batteries out over night -- POS, POS. I tried new lens caps, guess what? -- POS, POS.

You are throwing your money away on this purchase.

My husband and I had ordered this thermometer to replace our reliable, yet slightly less sanitary, oral thermometer. We wanted a solution that would be easier to use and a little easier to sanitize when one of us is sick. Considering that Earwax is not likely a way to spread many communicable diseases (Bronchitis and Colds, mostly), and that we both had experience using ear thermometers in the past, we opted for a new Ear Thermometer.

It does come with a box of 20 shields, and they are provided for hygienic purposes... considering that it is my husband and I, and (as I previously mentioned) the fact that most communicable diseases are not spread through Earwax, we are fine wiping the little plastic shields off and just reusing until it gets funky.

The fact that it does not have a backlight does not bother me, since I don't take temperatures in the dark and it will remember the last temperature you took... so even if you needed to take your sleeping family member's temp, just turn the thermometer off and on once you're in a lit area and you'll see their temperature.

I see a lot of reviews picking this unit apart, but here's what I bought: A thermometer that accurately measures temperature in the ear.

The most frustrating product I have dealt with...

This review is specifically for the Braun ThermoScan 5 model

The only thing accurate about this product is the constant POS message which i'm inclined to believe that it stands for piece of s***t

We have gotten no more than approximately 10 uses, of which most were frustrating as it took many tries just for the temp to register, try doing that several times on an already sick kiddo or one who might have an ear infection

Anyway, as mentioned after about 10 uses I now get constant POS, tried several suggestion to remove battery for overnight (talk about inconvenience, when you need it to work most it does not) still POS

Tried to clean the lens with micro cloth used for eye glasses cleaning, still POS, basically this product displays quite accurately what it is, a piece of s***t

First and last product i will ever buy or even consider buying from this company, what total frustration!!!!

Accurate Thermometer.

I originally was suckered into buying an Innovo thermometer based on what I now know is Paid Reviews. After trashing the Innovo I picked up the Braun and its far more accurate. Reads same temperature every time and seems very accurate (I always read around 98.4)
