Temperature feature broke in less than 3 months
by 6219345 (1 out of 5 stars)

Good shower head. Quite enjoy being able to see the temperature reading (along with the corresponding color), particularly given that there is no battery required. The shower head provides a nice water distribution. Both the shower head and cradle are made of plastic, but seem of good quality. Moreover, it is a good size/weight to be able to use by hand without undue difficulty. The hose is made of metal, and is of good quality. Overall, very happy with the product.

There is no wasted packaging- I was surprised to see how small the box was, but indeed it was all in there, and it was nice to see no unnecessarily packaging used.

Only "wish" would be that the hose was longer. But that is mainly just a limitation when trying to bathe the dog, who cowers at the opposite end of the bathtub. For general use the hose length is fine.

UPDATE:

As of perhaps 2.5 months of use, the temperature feature is properly broken. We first noticed it a couple weeks ago: after the temperature went to red/flashing, it froze there even after lowering the water temperature. The next day it seemed to have corrected itself, but at times seeming perhaps 10 degrees off, or else a bit jumpy in the reading. Today it was straight ridiculous. In the course of my shower I watched it jump every half second- between temperatures ranging from 25 degrees to 125 degrees- going from flashing red to blue (i.e. too hot to cold) over the course of a second (while my actual temperature stayed somewhere in the 90's). It's hard to ignore when the shower head is lighting up in schizophrenic disco mode along with the LCD readings. Truly disappointed. We spent above our intended price point on this, with the rationale of 'better to spend more and get a product that lasts longer'. And it was brilliant while it worked. But while the water spray may last fine, apparently we will be living with absurd disco shower until we break down and shell out the money for a different one. Buyer beware.
****

Update: Still broken (wrong temp) but less erratic. In hindsight I strongly suspect the thermometer feature broke due to how HOT our water can get. So perhaps it will not break on others unless subjected to very high temps. Nonetheless, still one star because even if this was true, there was no obvious warning in the packaging for this weakness.

Inconsistent, distracting, weak flow.

Our shower is in a small, cramped space with no light, so I was very excited for this shower head. We previously purchased a similar product from Groupon, which lasted several years, so I assumed this one would function similarly and last a while. It's been a few weeks now since installing this and I am already looking for a new shower head. Here's why:
1) The color changes are meant to correspond to the water temperature, but they change frequently and flash so much between colors that it makes me a little motion sick. We've never had any issues with our water temperature changing rapidly, so I feel that this is more to do with the product than with our water. It will flash red on 103 degrees, or show the same temperature with green light. Honestly, the colors are so inconsistent and quick to change that I don't believe they have anything to do with the actual temperature of the water, and the flashing and rapidly changing colors are more stressful than relaxing, particularly when I feel like I'm getting scalded when the light is still blue. It also seems more difficult to find a comfortable water temperature in general since we installed this.
2) The water barely flows out of this thing, and there is very little difference between most of the settings. The strong spray is fine for up-close rinsing of hair, but too narrow to use in general, and the broader sprays feel like a weak rain. Again, we have never had any water pressure issues before, so I think the shower head is to blame in general.

On a positive note, it was easy to install and the cord is very long, which is good for washing children and dogs in the shower. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this, as it has a weak spray and distracting, inconsistent color-temperature readings that make me feel like I can't relax in the shower. I'd rather shower in the dark.

Buying a second one for the other bath.

Update May 9, 2017:
"upgraded" to their 7 function unit (meaning 7 rain options vs 5). HotelSpa Neon Ultra-Luxury 7-setting LED Hand Shower with Chrome Face and Color-Changing Temperature Sensor

I've been happy with the current unit but thought I'd do the upgrade... Under 3 minutes of work, simply swap the hose and attach the new showerhead.

After 18 months I've not experienced any issues with the previous showerhead. I'll clean off the scale on the face and install it in the guest bathroom.

Get THIS unit if you want to see what the temperature is. Get the 7 function if you don't care about numbers and simply like a light up shower head with more "rain settings".

Been using this for almost a year now. My rocks have water in them (hard hard water). Everything has worked without issue. Installation after removing the old showerhead was toolless as advertised.

Pros:
Simple to install
lights are bright
temperature is easy to read without dropouts

cons:
Doesn't come in bright brass (at least not that I can find)
As another posted, a little longer would be great for washing my dog...

I'm buying another one for the second bath

Love It!

My husband wanted to get this shower head. He thought it was really cool the way it displays the temp of the water and has the 3 different colored lights. Blue- when the water is cold, green- good temp, red-hot. It turns out we both enjoy it! I don't step into the shower until the green light is on and I like seeing the temp it is. Also, it's really neat to turn the light off in the bathroom except the night light at night and just have the lighting from the shower head.

Noisy.

I'll describe the entire colors.

Blue - Obviously this is cold. Not much light when this light is on so you can't have the lights off.

Green - This is warm water. You can have the light off with this light from the shower on. I enjoy that part.

Red - This is obviously hot. You definitely can't have the light off when this. Way too dark.

Other than this the shower head if you really listen carefully you can hear a faint squealing past the water. Contacted support and they just refunded me, but I really like this shower. It tells you the temperature and everything and very easy to install.

I'm so disappointed!

I was so excited to get this shower head. I didn't install it immediately because I had to go to my son's to help them. When I came home I put it in my self. The red and blue colors worked fine but the green blinked the whole shower. But it only lasted 3 days!! By the third day the pressure was down to a trickle. It took 20 minutes to rinse the shampoo out of my hair. When I took the shower head off the hose black pieces of plastic fell all over the floor of the shower. $40.00 is a lot to pay for 3 showers. It's going back.

Very nice shower head.

I have bought a couple of these. I like how it tells you what the temperature is and that the color matches the temperature. So even in the dark, you'll see instantly if it is at the temperature you like. Blue = colder, Green = just right, Red = hot, but some people (my wife) enjoy this level. The only reason for the missing star is that sometimes if the temperature is fluctuating between color levels, the blinking (green then red, then green, then red) is annoying and you have to adjust your water temp. Doesn't happen often, but sometimes you have to play with the water to get it to stop.

So great, high quality, awesome for slow-to-heat-up-showers
by Skipatroller (5 out of 5 stars)

Wow what a great product. Higher quality than expected, heavy duty tube, and super easy to install. Lights up right away with correct color. Sounds trivial but COLOR really helps, because my shower takes forever to heat up, and always have to keep testing water to see if its warm yet. Now just look at the color -- so awesome. Has five water patterns too! Comes with washers, tape, etc. everything you need to install in just minutes.

Started acting weird, then completely stopped working after a month. Cheaply built. Noisy!

Unhappy. When I first set it up, all seemed to be well. I followed all the directions and there was no leaking from any of the seals - but there seemed to be a slow leak coming from inside of the handle of the unit itself. Being that this thing operates in a shower, I figured it was normal for some water to run out of the handle.

One thing to mention that surprised me, but then not so much when I thought about it - this thing is noisy. Of course, something has to generate the electricity to power this thing. That generation has to come from motion - so something is spinning in there and it kinda makes a whine or whirr whenever it's in use. Not horrible, but definitely noticeable. Others have said theirs were loud.. Mine wasn't, but that was the least of its problems.

Well, on the 19th, a day after the return window closes here at Amazon, the thing goes crazy. First it started giving me all kinds of crazy random temperatures. Then it just didn't come on for about ten minutes. I shut everything off, turned on the water again, and it was fine - for a day. Then the next day, the stupid thing is blinking red and showing 160 degrees, no matter what I do, no matter what the temperature of the water.

I've read other reviewers that have had the exact same problem - me after 1 month, some after 3, some after a year.. But there's something wrong with the design of this thing. You'd think with water + electronics you'd know you need to get it right, but it looks to me like after time the moisture gets the better of the temperature sensor circuit and the thing just starts flashing like a 90s rave.

I don't feel like taking a shower in a red strobe light, so I took the thing down and put my old shower head back. So, apparently here I am stuck with a $50 piece of useless chromed plastic.

That's another thing - I really expected the build quality to be a bit better.. The whole thing is very plastic-y and seems like one of those things that will be cool for a while, then break. Well, here I am. No good.

Will try to get it replaced under warranty (for other buyers, the link is here: http://www.ipshowers.com/warranty/) - but my guess is that any replacement will behave the same way. We shall see, and I will update here.

If it's flashing off and on red, stay out of the shower.

Installation was quick and easy, no different than installing any standard handheld shower head. It includes multiple shower modes for everyone from "Light rain in the springtime" to "blast that scalp right off of your skull" (my words, not the manufacturer's). So far, no leaks or other performance issues encountered. The lights aren't just pretty, they are functional too. The colors change depending on the temperature from blue to green to red. At 120 degrees, the color mode changes to flashing red indicating that the water is dangerously hot and you shouldn't get in without adjusting it. The digital display takes the guesswork out as well. I have learned that I like showers between 109 and 111 degrees.

Cons: The digital display skips around a bit and seems to like odd values (vs even ones). The unit is also a little loud, I'm guessing due to the hydro-electric mechanism that powers the unit.
