Solid affordable mount

As the name implies, I purchased this mount so I could attach my GoPro Hero 5 Black to my tripod. I want to get some beautiful time lapse for my YouTube videos. The low price had me a little cautious because you always get what you pay for. I am happy to report that the mount is solid and a sound investment. It is indeed made of aluminum, but not weak and bendable as one would expect from cheaper products. It is very sturdy and will hold your GoPro in place while you screw in the retaining screw. The one I purchased did not come with a retaining screw, but my stock GoPro retaining screws thread in perfectly. The mount also attaches to my tripod securely, and I have used it several times before writing this review. Because of the quality of this mount, I have looked into buying other Smartee products and will provide reviews on them after testing.

Doesn't hold the camera as tight as the plastic mount

I bought this aluminum gopro light adapter because I wanted something strong enough to handle my gopro with a couple lights attached to it.

The build quality is excellent. It seems to be made of strong aluminum. However, there is too much space between the tabs, and aluminum is not very flexible, so even if you crank down the bolt, it still doesn't hold the camera as well as the stock plastic gopro mount.

Unfortunately, this item is useless. If they correct the spacing, it might work. The one I bought is now in the trash.

Smatree Contacted me and inquire about my tripod mount and the trouble I was having with it. After answering a couple questions, Smatree Send me a replacement mount without any problems. This new mount works great quality is what I was expecting, the customer service Went above and beyond to help me out.

purchase this a couple of weeks ago, as a mount for my GoPro. Does it work? Yes. Does it work well? No. The measurements appear to be off on the interlocking mount for the GoPro case. This necessitates a constant fight to install it, remove it or adjust. The mount works for its purpose but I would not purchase it or recommend it at this time.

Smatree markets a range of accessories. As a marketing company, they are unlikely to manufacture what they sell, but they do apparently exercise tight quality control.

This adapter is machined or cast from aluminium, is well-finished and durable.

A standard GoPro screw knob goes in without difficulty and holds securely.

I have several units like this because I am always misplacing them. I think I will stay with SmaTree as a supplier because these units are visibly better made than those from other small brands.

I purchased this adapter so I could use the GoPro on a typical camera mount tripod. It is very high quality. All metal. Works well right out of the box. Only gripe is that it untwists easily, so when you are adjusting your ball head, the ball head needs to be quite loose, otherwise this piece will rotate instead of the ball head. Not sure how I'd fix that. perhaps a stickier rubber? Still good overall and I'm satisfied with my purchase.

I decided to purchase this one for my attaching my go pro to a tripod after searching and reading reviews. It seemed like it was good value for what you get. After 1 year of use I am not disappointed, it has held up perfectly to regular use. You do have to really tighten the thumb screw to get it secure, but this hasn't caused any issue with the threads stripping or anything else. I would definitely recommend this one and will purchase the same if I need another. But at this point I don't think I will be needing to replace it anytime soon.

I've collected a lot of "action camera tripod adpaters". but watching some recent tutorial/reviewer video online, I decided I should have one of these in my every growing collection of gopro accessories.. The metal design feels a lot more solid, the self tightening design means I won't lose any of these enclosed nut caps that can fall out., and there is a rubberized part on the base that makes for a really secure non slip fit. Very happy with this purchase. I may get more!

threads not deep enough

The threaded hole in the bottom, that your tripod thread into is not deep enough for most tripods. I tried it on three that I have and it does not thread all the way down. As a result you can never tighten it fully onto the tripod or monopod. I add a washer and its fine but what a pain to carry a washer around. Otherwise quality seems very good.

5 stars! No mistake. My Smatree mount adaptor came in the mail this week. I just got around to removing the GoPole Bobber from my GoPro. I'm getting ready for a dive trip to Bonaire. This time, I'm taking a photo light with me. The night dives without a focused light are less than spectacular.

As I was starting to remove the standard GoPro connection thumbscrew, I remember the complete frustration at having it be pinched between the plastic housing and the thumbscrew. Finally, it came out.

I installed the tripod mount and then used Smatree's aluminum thumbscrew ... Ahhhhh ... what a joy. I got it pretty snug with fingers, but the aluminum thumbscrew wrench was the icing on the cake. Perfect fit. Tight. No worries.
