Questions repeat themselves by changing phrasing.by PipsGirl (3 out of 5 stars)

Based on a comment from my grandmother on how much she enjoyed her Family Edition, i purchased this addition for myself.
While it was a hit at the Christmas party, we found that THE QUESTIONS REPEAT!
They don't repeat verbatim, but they ask you the same question in 3 different ways. I'm really disappointed that that was the case.
I'm not sending back, but I wanted to let potential purchasers know -
Not sure if it's the same case in other boxes.
Great bonding activity for couples

My partner and I are currently long distance and rely on daily Skype calls to keep in touch. It occurred to me that we could be spending this time getting to know each other better rather than just talking about our respective days at work, what we had for lunch, what we're each watching on Netflix etc. I wasn't sure if he would be into the idea but he likes this activity as much if not more than I do. It's amazing the things you realize you don't know about somebody and would never in a million years think to ask, but can be so revealing. Last round we drew "Would you rather be the best player on a losing team, or the worst player on a winning team?" and the things he brought up as he was reasoning through his answer just reminded me how much I admire about his character. It might sound crazy that we are getting this much out of this simple game but communication is all we have available to connect with each other and this is really working for us. I'll definitely order more cards when we get through these and I plan to keep them on our dinner table when we are one day living in the same location - always more to learn!
Game-changer, Must-Have

Game-changer. The "Original" is a must-purchase. I also have "Not your Mom's Dinner Party" (so-so) and "Past, Present, Future" (pretty good) I've used them all at three parties so far. A success each time. It's not a "game" where you have teams or you solely organize to play. You use these cards in a casual manner. You basically set them out while you're grilling, drinking, and just hanging out. I also used these througout a 5-hour road trip. For each event, we probably went through a total of 5 cards, randomly throughout the night, and wow did the conversations go deep. It really became a meaningful visit and exchange with couples saying "I didn't know that about you." I was surprised how much I enjoyed it myself. Guests stated they had a really good time.
Awkward for casual parties, better for close family chats

The dinner table is a no-cellphone/TV/book/earbuds zone in our household, a place where adults and children discuss the day and other topics of interest. I got this game not for parties, but for times when dinnertime discussion was lagging. When the kids were younger, we stuck to the frivolous questions ("What's your favorite fast food?"), but later added some of the more philosophical ones too ("If you didn't have to worry about money, what would you do with your life?").
There are three basic types of questions: simple/silly, personal history, and thoughtful/profound. The personal history cards ("What pets have you had?" or "What was your grandmother's signature dish?") were always a favorite with my kids, who appreciated learning more of the little details about older relatives.
I don't think I would feel comfortable trying to "force" actual party conversation with topic cards like these, it would seem very awkward to me. For family-only gatherings, I have sometimes pre-selected cards for the kids to pass out as a sort of game, and that was fun.
A Great Way to Spark Fun, Meaningful, and Friendship Building Conversations

I first bought the TABLETOPICS Couple's Questions and loved them. They were an awesome way to spark great conversation on a date. When I discovered those, I started purchasing more as gifts. The Original set is just as engaging and fun as the couple's edition - which makes sense since I am guessing they came first. These cards are so simple, their brilliant. Each time you pull a card, you get a question that sparks a new conversation. You will discover things about new friends and spark deeper friendship with people you've known forever.
If you are looking for new ways to spark your friendship - new ways to connect on a personal level - to have some fun or to get out of conversational ruts with the people you hang out with - I highly recommend these questions.
They come in an attractive acrylic box that is heavy enough to contain and protect the cards. It makes them a little more classy than just pulling out a cardboard box. Presentation is important, and these are presented well. The questions are thoughtful and not redundant... and if you hit one that is taking the conversation in an unwanted direction, just veto it and move on... there are so many more cards! So, I highly recommend these.

This is an awesome way to spark all kinds of conversation. My family played it on Thanksgiving and Christmas and it was so much fun. I thought I knew a lot about my family, but this helped me to know more than I ever could have imagined. It also helped me to know more about myself, as it makes you think about things you probably don't normally think about. I highly recommend this product.

We used these at our wedding and the guests loved them! We placed 11 cards on each table to help create conversation for guests who didn't know many people at the wedding.

My husband and I bought these to keep on our kitchen table to read every once in a while. It's a fun way to get to know people. Many of the questions seem the same, just asked in a different way. I am interested in purchasing another set. I think this would be a great gift for a newly married couple or family.
Thumbs up. Keep it at the kitchen table, and read one at every meal with the people you love.

The questions are great, so far I found maybe 3 questions that are kind of stupid or either repetitive, other than that, me and my boyfriend thoroughly enjoy this. We keep it at our kitchen table and read one each every night at dinner. Great way to get to know someone better, especially when the questions are already there, you don't have to think about what to ask someone.
Great little game!

I bought this for a family Christmas vacation. We had our immediate family, Grandparents and sibling. The only kids in our group were preteen and teens.
Having the cute little box sitting on the coffee table inspired random people to pick them up and suddenly we were all engaged in a great game.
We spent hours over the course of a week, reading and answering the questions. We didn't come close to asking them all. There were several questions that confused the kids, but generally the cards worked for all if us. We had great discussions, a lot of laughs, and the kids willingly put down their electronics and participated. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase, and will probably buy different ones if we answer all of the questions.
