Warning: Appears to Use Aluminum Wire, Not Copper - May Not Meet 15 Amp Ratingby sandygee (2 out of 5 stars)

We just purchased this for use with our solar/12 volt AGM battery camping power system. Replaced the eyelets with Anderson Pole connectors for compatibility with this system. When stripping the wires for the Anderson Pole connectors we observed what appears to be 100% aluminum wiring instead of the "high-conductivity 100-percent copper wire and a rated capacity of 15-amperes" in the product description. Since some copper wiring is tinned for corrosion resistance we also closely examined the cut wire ends and still did not see any hint of copper wire. See both pictures of the NOCO Adapter with stripped wire ends. Since Aluminum only handles 61% of the current of similar sized copper wire this item may only warrant a 9 amp rating (unless the manufacturer has used high quality wire insulation capable of withstanding at least 90 degrees Celsius per an on-line wire ampacity chart) versus the claimed 15 amp rating representing a significant risk since the seller's pictures show this directly attached to car batteries capable of hundreds of amps in a short circuit should the wires melt. Gave the NOCO adapter a two star rating as we can still use it as planned for applications that will require less than 5 amps and have substituted a 7.5 amp fuse for the 15 amp fuse that came with it to mitigate the above wire related risk.
There is no 15Amp fuse in the 2-way splitter. ...

There is no 15Amp fuse in the 2-way splitter. I contacted NOCO and the tech. said a recent redesign eliminated the fuse. NOCO is hoping the 15A rated wire and the Vehicle / appliance fuse will be sufficient protection. amazon's ad-picture of the 2-way splitter shows the female power end capable of holding a 15A fuse. The current female end design does not come apart, there is no screw and nut. The web page does state the unit is 15Amp rated, just not protected. The statement; made; from a high-conductivity 16 AWG copper wire and a rated capacity of 15-amperes along with the current incorrect picture of the female power end will lead customers to believe this unit is protected by a 15A fuse.
I will returning this product.
I searched high and low for a quality splitter and this looked like it had all that I wanted

This is a review of the NOCO GC020 12V 2 - Way Splitter.
(These use standard DC plugs and sockets. Sockets are 7/8" in diameter.)
Summary - I needed a splitter to put in my vehicle console so I could connect a phone charger and power a camera at the same time. I searched high and low for a quality splitter and this looked like it had all that I wanted. (See my feature list below.) Bottom line is that this is very sturdy and made of quality materials.
There were two problems I did have though.
1.) The physical dc plug which you plug into your dc outlet fit snug but would not stay in properly. It seems to have a 1cm distance it likes to push out to and while you can push it back in, the slightest bump will make it come out the cm losing its power connection.
2.) The two outlets you plug items into could have been a little tighter. Plugs fit well, however, they seem to turn a little easy and have a little play.
1st item I was able to resolve by slightly bending the clips and the 2nd item was resolved with a quick wrap of electrical tape around where the plug and sockets meet.
As this item is being used in a vehicle console - is not visible day to day and since the item does work 100% with above modifications, I will go with a 3. One star off for each issue.
Features
-Uses thicker power cables which are 16awg which are capable of up to 15amps.
-Has a removable fuse in the dc power plug. (Most do not of lesser quality.) The fuse is a 10amp fuse and is replacement.
-The mold and design is very thick and durable.
-Has caps for each socket in the event you do not need to use both at the same time for safety.
Its a 50/50 gamble.

Well after a total of 3 boxes, the final product was pretty good. Comes with a inline 15 amp fuse, that's removable if blown. The construction of it appears to be very well built, it is 16g wire that has been heavy coated, which I guess is all good, when it comes to the female plug it self, I can see where others reviewers are have problems with accessories staying attached. The female plug is smooth like butter, so your smaller usb plugs would probably have a harder time stay connected while your (for example ) dash camera plug would stay a lot better. Over all not a bad product.
Won't stay connected.

Seems to be very well built, and the cable heavy enough... but there is one huge flaw. It won't stay in a female receptacle and I have tried it at least six female recepticals now. I don't think it's defective unit, I think it's just the design. It doesn't have the big loops on the side as one of the pictures showed, but two little tiny nubs that don't do the job. I'll be returning it and ordering another brand.

This works great! Been using it 24/7 for about 8 months now and still going strong. I have a fridge plugged into it and occasionally it has lost connection. Whatever you plug into it make sure you shove it in ALL THE WAY...I mean REALLY shove it in so it stays put. My lost connection was due to it slipping out just enough to break connection. I have not had this issue since stabilizing the plug and cord so it won't move around at all.
NOCO always delivers - no exception here

Overall, this product has the quality and finish of the NOCO products I have come to expect. The wire gauge is large, the terminals have the characteristic NOCO design flair, and the connections all feel tight and robust.
The only complaint I would have about this product (and it is a small one) is that the 12V socket does not have the effort placed in the design like the terminals do. The socket is high quality and works great, but it doesn't have that NOCO feel to it. It has a slip fit cap and a matte plastic case with no special moldings. I would love to see the NOCO look molded into the socket with a twist locking cap, for example. That being said, tooling up new molds is expensive, so I can understand why they may have avoided that for a product at this price point.
As far as products like this one go, I would not buy anything other than NOCO. They outperform everything else I have owned for a comparable price.
It's as good as a Y splitter gets

It's as good as a Y splitter gets. Made multiple purchases of these already and here I am back again. It's a very premium product, heavy gauge cables, used them for years without any problems. An LED on the tip insert to let you know it's getting power. Only wish there was a lock to hold them cigarette adapters in but this happens to all adapters... Why can't they make a lock? Perhaps for some safety reason? Anyhow, this is the one to get until that comes out.
Bad connection for standard length male plugs
by M. Justice (2 out of 5 stars)

This is a review of the fused adapter. The product looks like great quality - heavy wire, inline fuse and a dust cap for the adapter when not in use. Unfortunately, the female recepticale is too shallow to hold the male plug on my UTV speaker. When pressed in as far as possible, the metal tangs on the plug are still visible - the plug will not go in fully. It can make a connection it that state but as soon as a little jarring occurs, it backs out enough to power off the speaker. A little more jarring and it slips back into place and powers the speaker again. After about 20 minutes of a ride like this, I gave up and plugged into the built in DC plug in my RZR dash. The male plug seated perfectly with no connection issues. This leads me to believe the issue is with this female adapter. If you have a shorter male plug, this should work for you but not with a standard plug. Amazon processed the refund quickly. I will continue using my dash plug while looking for a similar product with a deeper port.
Don't blow your car fuses
by Carsonius (5 out of 5 stars)

It works. Built-fuse is easier to replace than a fuse for your car. If you've ever used an air-compressor from your CLA [cigarette lighter adapter], you've probably had the experience of consulting your manual to replace the fuse that may have taken out half the lights on your dash and rendered your car charger unworkable. Connecting a 12V battery directly keeps your car fuses intact allowing for quick, reliable direct connection. AND it's nice to turn any battery into a car charger as needed.
