My dog loves these! Finally a pill pocket he likes and isn't allergic to. I also love that I can break these up and make them stretch longer (I mean with the price and everything.....). They stay nice and fresh and malleable if kept in a baggie after opening the little pack. Then I split one (of the two that come per package) of them in half and then half again to wrap two pills in one half and then one pill in the other half. If that makes no sense, just look at the picture.

My 13lb dog eats them with no trouble and has only found the pill once in three months of use. (And he is a professional at finding and spitting out his pills.) These are awesome, and I hope to be buying them for years to come.

I have a very sick dog on my hands and she is wanting less and less food. With heart disease you have to cut out all salt and in general I try to feed my dogs clean whole foods. This product is not only clean of gross ingredients but my dog really loves these and they are a lifesaver when you need to get those pills down.

I can break one piece up into four pieces to stretch the usage of these. If you keep them in a sealed container, you can open the packages and leave them without them getting dried out. My dog always takes his pills using these, and will spit out the pill if I try anything else. I recommend these highly. I have been using them for years and a few times I have gotten packages where the pill pocket was not malleable. If this happens, it is not how it should be and you should return - the pill pocket should be malleable and stick together when shaped around the pill.

Highly Recommend and Here's Why

I can't recommend these highly enough. We'd be truly lost without them. It's important to know, though, what the Pill Buddies are, and what they aren't. My Siberian Husky has Inflammatory Bowel Disease, which is usually well managed through a careful regimen of diet and medication. In terms of medication, he takes a minimum of 750 mgs of metronidazole, which is 1 1/2 large tablets, every day. The Pill Buddies are basically lumps of a delicious smelling smoky chicken dough-like substance. They are *not* pill pockets. They wrap around the pill so that the delicious smelly stuff encases it. If your dog is anything like mine, he/she will think it's a highly desirable treat. And, oh, by the way, my guy is one of the pickiest eaters on earth, most likely because of his gut issues. When he hears the word "medicine," he comes running and waits for me to pop it into his mouth.

Some further information:
1. I can actually spread the Pill Buddy material around the capsule and a half, but my dog is now trained (or programmed?!) to take his medicine. Your mileage may vary, and you may need a Pill Buddy per pill depending on the size of it and your particular dog.
2. The Pill Buddies come wrapped in plastic, 2 per package in the larger bag. I typically use only one per day. If I leave the second one in the plastic and then make sure to seal the larger bag (it's resealable), I don't have a problem with it drying out.
3. My dog, because he has IBD, is extremely sensitive to all kinds of ingredients. He can tolerate the Greenies peanut butter Pill Pockets, but I don't like giving him some of those ingredients, plus he tolerates the Pill Buddy Naturals, even with the xanthan gum, much better than the Greenies. I much prefer these ingredients.

Prepping required

Smells great, our pup likes them as treats and only one issue. These do not come with precut area to place tablets inside...so once you open it requires that you real seal. And with two per package, if you do not use right away the consistency makes it difficult to keep from having our pup to find the tablet. My suggestion is to always prep two (how they come packaged) to avoid the situation. Otherwise great product.

second order was dry

First order was great, soft claylike consistency easy to use to cover the pills and capsules we currently use. Buddy loved the flavor and I love the hypoallergenic ingredients. Second order, though dated to expire in 2017, was like clay that had dried out, crumbly and doesnt cover well. Buddy has rejected a few capsules, I think the scent is not masked as well. I tried to moisten them, but did not help. If wasn't desperate, I'd send them back but the order came days late and I can't afford to be without them. Hope next order is better, will probably try a different seller.

My dog has gone through every flavor of the Pill Pockets, some lasted a couple months and then he no longer had a desire for them. These got him back in the game and he takes his meds with no problem!

They are packaged in individual twin packs, which is odd, but helps maintain their freshness. My furry friend takes five pills in the AM and six in the PM. I can fit two tablets in a single pocket, and one capsule in a single pocket. Wish there was a subscribe and save on these as they're not yet available at any of my local pet stores or chains.

A decent alternative

We feed our dog some herbs in pill form from the canine acupuncturist twice per day, and these are perfect. These are packaged as pre-portioned "soft stuff" and are individually wrapped with two "portions" or "sections" per wrapper. Yes, it's more waste than the other brand. Also, these do not have the "hole" where the pill goes - you have to make the hole yourself. It would probably makes sense for these guys to just sell this as a loaf and let people break off what they need, but anyway. We get four "portions" per wrapper instead of two because we break each section in half because they're generously sized. We keep the unused part in a little tupperware so it's still moist and pliable when we go to use the rest. Our dog is choosy and he likes these. The ingredients aren't perfect or super high-end natural, but they're fine for the price point, assuming the company is being transparent with its ingredients, and it's nice to have an alternative to the other brand. Maybe in time they will make them even more natural, organic, free range, etc.

My dog loves these, and they make it much easier to give her pills. Now, when she hears the rattle of the pill bottle, she comes running all excited about her treat!

They come in individually wrapped packages of 2, which is very nice. This way they won't all dry out if you forget to close the bag properly. Each treat is pretty large, and I only need to break off small bits each time. They're very malleable, and the texture is such that my dog has never tried to chew one. She just swallows them whole, no matter how big the piece I give her. This means I can put all of her pills in one treat rather than giving her several smaller pill treats.

I used to use the pill pockets for my dogs. I didn't like all the questionable ingredients. I saw this brand and thought I'd try. I didn't expect a lot, but to my surprise theses smell amazing! Very fresh out of the package and easier to work with. I like the fact that it's very pliable my dogs take a small pill and I can easily tear one of these in half and save the rest. My mom almost ate one, she said it smelled so good! 😂 I'm already on my second bag. I will continue purchasing.
