Unhulled so much tastier and healthier than hulled

I always had hulled sesame seeds and finally decided to try the unhulled (which I didn't even know existed until I saw a product recommendation here on amazon). I will never go back to the hulled ones! The unhulled are a hundred times better in taste and nutrition. They have a richer, nuttier flavor than the hulled counterpart. I do not taste any bitterness at all even eaten by themselves. I typically grind them to maximize absorption (with a spice and nut grinder or a coffee grinder).

You can certainly make tahini with the unhulled just like with the hull though I haven't tried myself because I do not eat tahini.

I got the 6 lb size and it was divided into 3 bags of 2 lb each which is very convenient. Fresh, healthy, delicious. Very happy.

These are just what I needed! I used to buy unhulled tahini butter at my local farmers market for 9$ a container. I have been making my own, and I've made about 5 servings so far out of this bag! What a deal. I mix 2 cups sesame seed to 4-5 tsp of evoo and a few tsp of honey... into the vitamix and voila... I have wonderful tahini butter... I eat it on my bananas or by the spoonful. Absolutely divine!

Sweet and Nutty After Roasting

Black sesame seeds are hard to find here and a small jar of paste or seeds can be pretty expensive when you do find them. I wanted to make my own black sesame seed paste for baked goods and icecream. I finally found these and was worried not being able to see what it looks like and actually when these arrived I thought the smell was lacking the sweet nutty flavor they usually have. I bit into some and still...no nuttyness just bitterness. I thought a bit and realized these were not roasted, so I put some of these in the toaster oven for 3-5 minutes at 375. They were perfection. Such a clean and fresh taste. I recommend roasting these very lightly, you dont need any oil or anything. I cannot emphasise how big of a difference in flavor these will have with this extra step. It is the difference between straight bitterness and that very sweet and nutty taste you will remember of black sesame seeds, as the bitterness drastically subsides.

Rancid and gross, DO NOT BUY

I very much regret trying this brand because "This item isn't eligible for return" and I am out $12. I had previously purchased and loved Pride of India Natural White Sesame Seeds and they were fresh and delicious. This time around Pride of India was out of stock so I took a chance on Terrasoul. This product is rancid and gross. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT! You will regret it. I still have the nasty rancid taste in my mouth. :(

I feel jipped and sad

Seeds totally rancid. Smelled like chemicals and plastic. I tried to use some anyway and they had no flavor at all, even after toasting. Was really looking forward to a cheaper, bulk order of sesame seeds, but you get what you pay for. Unusable and inedible.

Got these seeds in July, 2017. The seeds had a slight stale smell. But because the packaging stated these are supposed to expire in July 2018, I kept these in a cool dry place, as I do with all my seeds and hoped they would be fine. It is now December, 2017 and the seeds are completely rancid.

I love Terrasoul products and always buy from them. Unfortunately, this morning, while I was eating my usual avocado toast, sprinkled by sesame seed I saw a tiny caterpillar running around the seeds and toast. Right before I ate it so I could take it out. But now I have a half full bag of sesame seeds, that I have to throw away in case more are in there. I am hoping that I haven't eaten any of them in the past.. No idea what type they are. But just watch out. I hope that was just an unlucky pick for me.. Definitely not getting the bulk portion of sesame seeds anymore...

great for sprouting

great for sprouting, easy to grow, no special equipment required. i grow a tablespoon of these seeds in a jam jar using a sock on the top for draining, and in 5 days i have a big bowl of crunchy delicious sprouts. yum!

Dusty and Odd Scent

I believe that someone else mentioned that the seeds had a "chemical" scent, and I know think I know what they mean. To me, it doesn't smell like chemicals but more like raw grain. Duh! I mean, these are raw, unhulled seeds. I knew that when purchasing them. I tried a pinch of them straight from the bag, and they were dusty and tasted just as they smelled. I was hoping that when I bit into them they might taste like sesame seeds. My choice to buy them this way, I was going for the higher nutrition. I am not giving up on them either. I will start looking around for ways to use them. If I cannot find a way that I like then I will try again with hulled seeds.
