I am a graphic designer and often use these pens for some designs but especially signs! I've used a LOT of chalkboard markers and I can say with absolute certainty that this is the best one I have ever used. It shows up bright white and stays that way! Some of the other markers I have used are initially white, but when they dry they look watered down. This doesn't do that. It's also very precise. Happy I finally found a good brand to use!!

GREAT for my chalk lettering (hey check it out on instagram - @lunchtimelettering).

For anyone complaining about the chalk marker not coming off as advertised, I have news for you. I have been doing chalk boards for years and no chalk markers come off with just soap and water. What is the secret?? Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. You're welcome in advance and happy chalk marker drawing!

I've bought about a half-dozen varieties of chalk marker this last year. Most have some failing or another- dribbles, staining, etc. This one writes easily and erases cleanly from chalk cloth and vinyl. The line is perfect for making readable labels, not too thick or too thin.

The only down side so far is that the ink smears rather easily when any moisture is present.

I love this chalk pen. I've probably tried half a dozen different kinds, but I always go back to this one. I usually purchase at my local Hobby Lobby, but they've been sold out for months so I was so happy to find it on Amazon. It's much pricier here (I think $2.99 before a coupon at Hobby Lobby), but still worth it compared to any other I've tried. I love how thin and neat it writes and the paint doesn't run everywhere.

I'm not sure what people are writing on when they say it doesn't erase- I use it on my chalkboard wall calendar and simply use glass cleaner and a rag to redo it once a month. I never have trouble getting it completely off. Great pen.

My FAVORITE chalk marker!

I make and sell decorative chalkboards and this is my favorite chalk marker for a number of reasons: it doesn't dry up fast like most of the other brands, the tip stays intact and doesn't fray as fast as the others and the ink is nice and opaque, but still has a great chalky look.

For those reviewers who are complaining that they can't get it off the surfaces, that's actually GOOD for me because I want it to be permanent, but....you can easily take it off with a little nail polish remover.

I've purchased many chalkboard markers similar to this but the tip is always too large or it bleeds so much when writing that its difficult to keep writing small and/ or legible. This marker does a great job with easy writing, I don't have to prime it on another sheet of paper every few words or letter like others and the tip is much finer than others I've used. It's great for writing on labels as I needed it for.

Writes just like a pen

Finally a chalk marker that writes just like a pen. The ink comes out smoothly and not in a globby mess. The fine tip also makes it easy to write legibly and draw precisely. If erasing within 24 hours, it erases fine with a wet paper towel. If leaving longer than a few days, the chalk becomes stubborn to remove, but a magic eraser sheet was able to do the trick. Overall this chalk marker is a keeper.

Good for professional signage

Bistro is one of the better quality brands to use for chalkboard signage. Not as streaky and creates nice pools of opaque chalk/paint. Compared to the Michael's brand, I would choose this on from side-by-side test. So much easier to use!

😣 The pen works like a regular paint pen. However, erasing it is not so easy.

Water? Nope. Soap and water? nope.

Not sure how to get this pen off my chalkboard.
