Best Dandruff Shampoo!

I am one of those people who never writes product reviews. For real, I place several orders from Amazon a week and never review any of those products. Until today.

I've never had problems with dandruff or dry, itchy scalp until about 6 weeks ago; I'm talking big, embarrassing flakes that just wouldn't go away. I don't know what caused it. We've had some crazy up-and-down weather where I live in the South, so maybe that has something to do with my scalp troubles. At any rate, I did a little research on Amazon and saw this shampoo had wonderful reviews, so I ordered it. I only wash my hair every other day - FYI. This shampoo came on a Thursday and I used it Friday, expecting results to take a few washes. Nope! After ONE wash (I did scrub my scalp a little more than normal, and let it sit a few minutes longer since it was the first time washing with this shampoo), I have no flakes! Today was my off-day and while I do see a tiny bit of dryness, still no flakes. I'm expecting that as I continue to use this product, my dry-scalp problems will disappear all together.

This also doesn't stink like the popular dandruff shampoos. It has a really fresh, herb-like smell that I still smelled when I woke up on the 2nd day. Also on this second day, my hair was still very clean, did not get very greasy like it normally does, and was very soft and manageable. I usually use BigSexyHair but think I will alternate with this to keep my hair looking healthy. I'm so so pleased with this, especially for the price. I'm considering ordering some of their other varieties as well! Thanks, Maple Holistics!

I bought this specifically to fight off dandruff and frizz with natural ingredients. While I no longer had a bad case of the frizzies (which is actually the result of my conditioner, more on that later) I not only had worse dandruff than before, I began to notice a steady increase of hair loss after a month of use. The hair loss first started in the shower after rinsing this product. I'd find my long strands on my chest and shoulders. Then it began happening any time I'd run my hand through my hair. I'm talking more than several strands. When I comb my hair, the comb is full of hair like I've used it for a week straight without cleaning it! Many of these hairs were by the root!

This product seems to really help for others and I don't doubt that. The good reviews must come from somewhere. All I can suggest is using it on your scalp only once per wash... The directions in the bottle say to rinse and repeat. I had hair loss and I only used it once without repeating! Oh... I should add. I only wash my hair once per week!! This hair loss happened so fast! Pay close attention to any differences you may experience as you use this or any new product.

Now, the conditioner I use is from a brand called Love This Hair. I purchased this conditioner on Amazon too. I say with certainty this solved my frizz problem because Sage's instructions specifically target the scalp only while the conditioner is applied all over. I bought the conditioner the same time I purchased this. I didn't buy the conditioner from the same company as Sage because I saw a few reviews mention hair loss (ironic!) So I decided to try Love This Hair. I was cautious with Love This Hair because of the small amount of (5 STAR) reviews. They are a brand that prides itself of being used at many blow out salons in Florida. I know first hand how humid Florida is, so I gave them a shot. The company is also owned by a woman who created her products for her family. My hair has never felt so amazing at home and it only took one wash. I used to straighten my hair all the time because it was the only way the frizz could go away. Not anymore!! I never blow dry my hair, so you may not need to either with their products. I'm finally loving my hair the way it is naturally (wavy, thick hair, color treated). In one review, the customer said Love This Hair helped them with dandruff...so I'm optimistic, just ordered the shampoo. I want to mention them here for anyone who has the same problem with this product and is desperately seeking an alternative. The only other product that's helped me with dandruff and frizz (very little in comparison to Love this Hair) is Dove Dry Scalp. I want to move away from toxic ingredients so I found Sage and Love this Hair. Sorry to totally rave about a brand that's not the one being reviewed. I just know it's hard to trust a company with 12 or so reviews when theres one like this company with thousands.. heck that's why I bought this shampoo to begin with. This is just proof that everyone starts somewhere. I will update this with any changes as I've only just thrown out Sage.

This product really helped out my daughter scalp ,I immediately saw a difference ,I left this on he'd hair for about 3 minutes as I massaged her scalp,left her hair as well scalp looking very healthy without the flakes left from dermatitis, and it spelled good I would most definitely recommend this product ,I also followed it up with tea tree conditioner

My daughter and I,were not as impressed by this product,as I wanted us both to be. I think it's probably an effective remedy for dandruff.

Although, this product is sulfate-free,and has more natural ingredients compared to store bought brands, I personally felt that this shampoo was too drying for my hair,possibly due to there being quite a few sodium ingredients. For some that have a coarser hair texture,the extra sodium may prove to be a bit harsh and drying. A great conditioner is a good after thought, to using this sage shampoo.

Tames my scalp psoriasis!

The shampoo I had been using for years to tame my psoriasis was discontinued. I searched high and low for a replacement that worked as well. It took lots of trail and error with some brands causing serious flare ups for months but finally I stumbled on the Maple Holistics Sage shampoo and it works (wait for it...) WAY better than my old way more expensive salon shampoo!!! Seriously they brought back the old shampoo I used @ $28 a bottle and I wouldn't dream of going back! This stuff works way better and has a much better ingredient profile too. I personally find MH conditioner a little too strong with the minty vibe so I use another mild brand. Thanks for making a great product that really helps stop people from suffering :) and it smells good too!

I really love this shampoo

I really love this shampoo. I was using tea tree shampoo from this same company but the tea tree smell is really strong. It cleans well but I just got overwhelmed with the smell. I switch to this sage shampoo hoping the smell would be better and it was. It really cleans my hair and I see no flakes or dead skin anywhere. The smell is not the best in the world but it's much better than just the tea tree. I like that this company's products do not have harsh chemicals. I have really noticed a difference in the texture and shine of my hair. I've received compliments on my hair from other people. I'm definitely a believer in this shampoo. I wished they made a conditioner with the same scent to go with it.

Miracle shampoo for dandruff/itchy scalp!

Let me start off by saying that I NEVER write reviews on these types of products because i rarely find anything worthy of a review. But because I relied heavily on others' reviews of this product & it turned out to be the best purchase I have ever made for myself, I think it has earned a positive review.
I first bought this shampoo out of desperation after trying so many other dandruff shampoos including ketoconazole which was prescribed by my dermatologist. Nothing seemed to relieve that annoying itch and my dandruff was so bad I would avoid wearing black shirts because of the embarrassing flakes. And to make matters worse, I have natural black hair so the dandruff wss super obvious. So I decided to try this product as a last resort, and man do I wish I would've tried this sooner! I was ecstatic the very next day after washing my hair with this shampoo as it significantly reduced the amount of flakes, and after a few months of regular use (about 2-3x a week) my dandruff was completely gone! I made the mistake of trying out another natural shampoo made by SheaMoisture this past week and my scalp began to itch and the flakes were reappearing. Luckily I still had a small amount of sage shampoo left in my old bottle so I instantly felt relief after washing my hair. I will never switch shampoos again! I trust the ingredients in this product as well as its effectiveness and the price is reasonable considering I used to spend a lot more on the prescription grade stuff which was harsher and more drying on my scalp. Plus, I can now go days without washing my hair so one bottle typically lasts 3 months! It's certainly worth a try and I absolutely recommend it to those who have tried everything else with no luck.

Amazing!

I suffered from dry scalp for a super long time. It was pretty disgusting seeing all the white flakes coming out of my scalp and gathering in my hair. But once I started using this (combined with some scalp hydration - hydrating toner sprayed onto my damp hair), all of those disappeared. My hair also gets limp very easily so I wash every day, but I don't find this too drying. Even though I use this every day, I've gone through very little of the bottle in a little less than a month.

Finally, this is totally irrelevant to the product, but I love the appearance of the shampoo. Almost like liquefied mother-of-pearl, or something.

Disappointed

I really liked the smell. But I wanted this for dry itchy scalp and after several uses I had a worse scalp than I started with. My mom wanted to try it. Her hair is not like mine- I got my dad's course, and curly hair & mine is colored. Her hair is natural silver, soft & fine but quite thick for her age. By the 2nd time she used it she was begging her hair to have some life again as it went flat & yucky. Just can't recommend this shampoo.

Dries and damages hair

This product is amazing when it comes to removing dandruff in the beginning I LOVED it I thought "finally after many years of searching i found the one". After a month of using it I started noticing that my natural hair was getting soooo dry and damaged and that's when I put two and two together. The shampoo was drying the crap out of my hair which i felt every time I washed but I didn't think that it was going to damage my hair. Well now my curls are so damaged they have lost their shape and may hair does not retain any moisture. I am very upset, since, I'm transitioning from relaxed to curly and I was finally getting the hang of my curls but now they're ruined and I have to search online for a treatment to bring my curls back to life. So to sum up this product does work but it comes at a big cost.
