Watch for Manatees When Driving Your Speedboat

Not great, not terrible. The Manatea has a strange shape, and due to the angle of the flippers, it won't fully submerge to wet all of the tea leaves hanging from the cup like it is supposed to hang. To get all of the leaves wet, I have had to dunk him in the water with a spoon. However, it is still a cute product. Also, if you use a red tea, when the tea is brewing, it looks like he is bleeding out of his back after being hit by a boat, which is both hilarious and horrible.

Manatees and tea; combining two things I love!
by Jen (5 out of 5 stars)

My favorite animal is the Manatee. When I found out there was a "punny" tea infuser I had to have it. I drink a lot of tea and haven't had any luck with the ball infusers, whether they are metal or silicone. I usually buy empty, unbleached tea bags for my loose tea (I mostly drink loose leaf tea) and pieces always slipped through. Most of my teas are blends that have fine pieces of herbs or whatnot, and this Manatea infuser doesn't let anything sneak out! He's SO cute hanging on the side of the cup and I can still kind of place my silicone lid over the top of the mug to keep the heat and steam in.

If I had a complaint, it's that the top part of the holes is sometimes exposed, so maybe if his head was a little longer he would hang down lower into the mug. I tend to add sugar, honey and sometimes milk if it's a chai and need some extra space at the top so he gets left a little exposed at the top. You also usually need to leave a decent amount of space on top if you're using a thermal mug with a lid.

Either way, this little guy brightens my days and works well. I usually rinse him out with warm water and give it a little scrubbing with soap; especially with black teas and Earl Gray as they leave stains and lingering tea odors.

Poor quality, not even the correct brand.

I ordered this item because I expected it to be Fred & Friends Brand. The image provided by the seller even says "Always look for the official Fred logo" on the tail. The product that I received did not arrive in a box, did not have the Fred logo, and was sub-par in quality. When I attempted to return it as I was not given the product I ordered, I was informed that it was not eligible for return. I am very disappointed to have wasted money on a product that is not the brand I was expecting and does not steep the tea very effectively.

Cute design, great idea!

Hello!

I really liked my tea infuser with the shape of a manatee! I like the size (not too big but not too small either), and I think it does the job! However, I had to leave it floating in my mug because if I left it hanging on its own, the mug needed to be almost completely filled. The reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because it has a strong smell. I washed it many times, but as many silicone products, it brings its own smell. I already had taken this new tea that I bought, so when I tasted it using Fred, I realized it smelled different. But overall, it is an outstanding product!

Man, I hope you like tea.

Super adorable manatee!! When I first saw it I fell in love. This makes tea time so much more fun. I wish that I could have all the animals.

The quality of the manatee was very very nice and it's very easy to use and clean. I just thought that you could pour loose tea in it but you have to keep it in the bag. The holes on the side are perfect for the tea bag but too big for the tea.

I guess it does keep you from eating the bag on accident? Very sweet product and it was exactly as pictured.

Tea in the evenings

I had brought some tea while in China so I needed something to hold the leaves. Fred Manatea worked great for this purpose, he hangs on the lip until I take him off. The problem arises when I need to clean him inside. It's difficult to get the leaves from the very bottom and to get something in there to clean the bottom. Lately I've been sticking a soapy paper towel inside and twirling it around. Works out ok. The price was very reasonable.

Manatea is a winner!

Omg the Manatea is sooooooo cool! Looks like he raised up out of the pool/tea and positioned himself on the edge of the cup for a chat. Fits together tight. I just filled it loosely with 3tsp of lavender petals.

Leaves tea leaves everywhere and very leaky and it does not infuse correctly. It is cute but avoid it.

Ridiculous fun! Great gift for tea lovers who like cute animals.

Bought this for my wife for Christmas as a stocking stuffer. It's ridiculous and that's what makes it so fun!

Goofy little Manatee stares up at you from the cup while happily steeping your tea.

She laughed hysterically the first time she used it.

The tail cavity is vary large, so unless your making a larger pot, or like really strong tea, don't fill it all the way.

Only concern would be the fit of the two pieces over long term use. The silicone around the top, where it attaches to the upper half of the body seems a little thin and might not hold tight over time (speculation).

I would never pay the thirty dollars they list for. Not worth more than ten bucks IMO.

Great gag gift, brought lots of smiles and laughs. Worth it for that alone.
