There is an all black 3rd party knock-off of this product available, and I own both (purchased through Amazon.com). I use them with my Olympus TG-3, with telephoto and fisheye conversion lenses. In addition, I have one attached to a 40.5mm B+W circular polarizer and lens hood (to prevent lens flare), and a fourth attached to a 40.5mm UV filter (which I use primarily for lens protection when I don't have one of the other attachments on the camera.

I have two of these Olympus CLA-T01 adapters, and two of the of JJC RN-T01 adapters. They both work fine for attaching accessories to cameras that are compatible with these attachments (Olympus TG-1, TG-2, TG-3). I prefer the red banded OEM product, only because is has a more solid click into the detent. The JJC product's detent tab is not as long, so it can come off the camera more easily. For this reason, I use the OEM adapters on my two expensive attachment lenses (the TCON-T01 Teleconverter & the FCON-T01 Fisheye converter). The OEM product is currently 39% more expensive ($18 vs $11), but for me the more solid connection is worth the cost difference. I may eventually replace my two JJC adapters with two more Olympus adapters.

Fotasy LW405 40.5mm Wide Angle Metal Lens Hood Shade: http://www.amazon.com/Fotasy-LW405-40-5mm-Contax-Voigtlander/dp/B005WQZ2NC - works great with a circular polarizer on the TG-3, with no vignetting. It makes it very easy to carry the camera one-handed, by scissoring the lens hood with your fingers. As a bonus, the lens hood prevents you getting your fingers in the shot - which is very easy to do without it.

As a final note: Having a lens hood attached to your circular polarizer makes it far easier to rotate the filter (especially without accidentally smudging the filter with fingerprints while blindly reaching for it)!

Fit TG-5 perfectly

Bought it for new Tough TG-5 for my boy. The adapter actually has 2 parts:
- lens adpater
it fits TG-5 perfectly.
- "Olympus" lens' cap
fits perfectly, the cap is not mentioned in the product description, nor in product image. I read some people's review mentioned it.
I DO need this cap, even I have a UV filter lens installed as another layer of protection.

I was thinking to buy the 3rd party adapter "JJC RN-T01" which is much cheaper, it also received good reviews. But later I thought the "Olympus" lens cap looks more sexier. Now I am happy with the decision.

I'm not sure why this isn't a standard piece on the GT-5. This includes a lend cap which is the main reason I bought it. I feel better about throwing it into my backpack with the extra protection. Highly recommended.

A Lens Cap for Olympus TG-6

I bought this based on all of the positive reviews on Amazon specifically because I wanted a lens cap for my new TG-6. The camera does not come with a lens cap, but this adapter does. There are no instructions for how to put it on in the box. You will need to refer to page 129 in the TG-6 instruction manual which you can download from the Olympus website. It's pretty easy. Just push the lens release button near the bottom of the camera and rotate the ring that is on the camera to the left and remove it. Then line up the adapter ring with the white dot to the white dot on the camera, then turn it to the right and it will snap into place. Voila, now the camera has an adapter ring and a lens cap to protect the lens!

It's nice for use with a filter and lens cap, but I'm not sure if it's safe for underwater use.

I bought this for my TG-4, plus a clear filter and lens cap, in order to protect the camera lens from scratches. I had hoped that I could permanently use these on my camera, in order to protect the lens at all times (a lens cap can't be used with the ring that's on the camera). This is great for most photography, but not for snorkel/scuba (which is what I exclusively use the camera for). Unfortunately, the clear filter allows water to seep between the lens and the filter, so I had to remove the lens adapter and put the original ring back on.

I don't know if I could just leave this adapter on for underwater photography (which would still allow me to use the lens cap). Since I don't know for sure that it would be safe in water, I don't want to take a chance.

I went with the Olympus brand name part - the CLA-T01, while considering the off brand at a lower price. It snaps in securely and I felt that this item would possibly provide extra security to hold my filters and, eventually, maybe a telephoto attachment. It looks good on the camera and so far has hold the filter securely. I would probably remove it if taking the camera underwater, but my primary reason for the waterproof camera was for taking photos from my kayak. These adapters and any attached filters are not waterproof, but they do a good job for everyday, out of water applications!

Bought this to protect the camera lens when I'm rock climbing, and canyoneering. Only complaint is a metal version would be nice. I can see how plastic might come in handy, if the filter and lens got hit and bent it would be stuck on the camera, while plastic would just break and be able to be removed...but still I'd feel more comfortable with aluminum

Expensive piece of plastic for just adding some filters or other accessories to your TG 4 or TG 3 Olympus camera, but a necessary evil if you want to do just that. It is probably safer to stay with Olympus' originals in this case since all other after market products of this kind are also plastic and you really have no idea of the quality of their plastic and fitment until you have bought them. I have to admit, this piece of plastic is way overpriced but so are most photographic accessories of any kind ! Better be safe than sorry in this case.

I love it. My TG-5 didn't come with a lens cover so I bought this solely for that purpose. It sticks out a little bit as opposed to the original one but I don't mind and now I have an adapter if I ever do want to buy a lens.

This is my third one. Thin plastic and definitely the weakest part when using fcon lens. Olympus, make this in metal!

But OEM better than cheaper knock off sold here.
