Product Description
Boost your garden's productivity by providing a happy home for peaceful, non-stinging Mason bees. Slightly smaller than honeybees, mason bees are incredible pollinators. Each one visits as many as 1000 blooms per day — 20 times as many as a honeybee! Hang this natural bamboo house against a tree or wall where it will get morning sun and attract mason bees. Female bees fill the bamboo tubes with their eggs, and nectar and pollen for the young to eat.Top Reviews
Please read before buying - these are a death trap for beesby CO Dragonfly (1 out of 5 stars)

This bee house is cute, but pretty much non-functional and actually detrimental. It arrived with a hole drilled at the back end of the top with what appears to be a shower curtain ring in it. Unfortunately, the hubby drilled a new hole so I can't return it. After further research, I found that bamboo tubes are worthless for bee cocoons because you can't harvest the babies and clean out the parasites. Many of these tubes have a "wall" in the middle making them too short. The house itself is loosely woven and won't provide any shelter from wind or rain. I regret not doing more research on mason bees before purchasing this house, but that's my fault. I'm hoping this review will deter others from buying this and encourage them to read more on how to help the mason bees. crownbees.com is an excellent place to start.
Crappy product and not as pictured

I purchased one of these about a month ago and loved it! Decided to order 2 more since it was already almost full with mason bee cacoons!
However, the last 2 I ordered are not the same as the first. They are smaller, misshapen, and extremely poor quality. I returned them and ordered 2 more with the same result.
The bamboo tunnels aren't even attached and fell out as I unpacked the box. They also don't fill the entire frame. The woven bamboo is poorer quality and drier than my original with a misshapen appearence. I will be returning thsee as well and ordering elsewhere.
The bee house on the right is the nicer/original one, the one on the left is the newest/poor quality one.
Buzzing with activity!

It is amazing to see how quickly the bees found the house! It is buzzing with activity. We hung it on a south-facing porch post. Fascinating to watch.
Cute, but not waterproof and needs 2-3 more tubes

This design is super cute. However there weren't enough bamboo cylinders to keep them from from falling out. I wedged some paper in between to keep them from falling. The punch for the hanger was also not centered. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but when held up, it tilts forwards. The instructions say to put it against a flat surface, and having the hook towards the back does allow you to clip it to a fence to have the back flush.
The outer material seems very thin and that it will deteriorate with sun and water, so I covered my bed hive with a foil "roof" to keep out the water and reflect the sun. I'm hoping it won't deter the bees. It's very late in the season, so I might not get any squaters this year, but I still made sure to put the give near both dirt and water so they have access to mud. I made a rock "ladder" so they can get water with out drowning.
Bees love it!

I bought 2 of these a 2 seasons ago. One was placed near my vegetable garden, and one in a tree on the other side of the yard. The one in the tree was never used, and being in the tree left it exposed to the weather and wear and tear from the wind. I'll be moving what is left of that one. The one near the garden had eggs laid in 2 of the tubes the first year. And this winter it is half filled. Since Mason bees prefer a particular diameter, they are not going to use all the tubes. I'm buying 2 more to put near the garden so there will always be room for any bees looking for a nesting tube. To make sure the bees in my area have something to eat all summer long, I planted a small plot of red clover. That may explain the higher occupancy rate this last winter.
Edit: The description says it lasts one to two years. I have mine under a small overhang against my shed wall and facing south. So far, it is holding up well. I think I have had it 2 or 3 years.

The mason bees absolutely LOVE this house! I bought 20 bees from a local bee supply company and I think every one of them 'hatched' and are now hanging out in my raspberry flowers and other flowers close to their house. They are in and out all day. 11 tubes already have eggs laid in them and are sealed with mud. I would recommend this to anyone who has an interest in bees. I've been fascinated with my mason bees and can't wait to see how many tubes fill up!

When the house arrived the rear panel had become detached and the tubes were falling out, so I had to take it apart and re-glue the back panel and molding strip. I have hung the house up in a sheltered place that gets morning sun. We have a yard full of native plants and tons of pollinators of all descriptions, so I am hoping that the house will be in great demand. We shall see.
Two weeks later the first tube has already been filled! Check out the photo!

This is the second one like this that I have bought. I love and I have had mason bees in 1st one for 4 years. I have this one in separate location. Great bee house, well made and easy to see who is moving in. Highly recommend it.

Nice effect!! just waiting for my bees to find it. With the bee losses over the past five years I bought this on the premise "build it and they will come". Flowers are here, shade is here....bee house is here.....quality is sturdy, hanger works well and now we wait! It's been up for 3 weeks already so here's hoping.
