The Leviton Decora 15 amp tamper-resistant power outlet meets the 2008 NEC mandate for residential housing receptacles. Its shutter mechanism blocks foreign objects such as hairpins and keys from the contacts. Tr symbol on residential receptacles assures they meet the 2008 NEC requirement. Features. Shutter mechanism inside the receptacle blocks access to the contacts unless a two-prong plug is inserted helping ensure hairpins keys etc. Will be locked out. These outlets are basically perfect. I read reviews and noticed that some people said they had used switches, or weren't sure these were really Leviton brand. Mine came in a branded, unopened box. They looked great, super easy to install and far less expensive than my local big box hardware retailer. I'm planning on buying another 10 pack for sure. Awesome!

These are nice, I'm totally a fan. I've never had new outlets so I'm super impressed by how tight they hang on to plugs lol. You know like, while you're vacuuming or moving something, and the plug keeps falling out? Not here, nice tight fit 😉 Easy upgrade and the black looks sharp.

Glue residue on front of outlet

The major complaint I have is that each outlet came with a sticker covering the entire front of the outlet. The sticker left a glue residue that was a pain to clean with Goof Off. Other than that the product was as ordered.

Bought a 10 pack; opened up the box and some of them were definitely used/returned/refurbished. Some had screwdriver dents in the plastic

Solid Socket!

Bought this to replace an old electrical socket in my home, which is around 60 years old?

The socket works wonderful without a hitch. The build quality of this product is fantastic and the tamper resident feature is a nice addition as well. There were no issues with the old wiring and grounding through the socket I am pleased to say.

There are no cons to this product, I definitely recommend it. I will eventually replace all my old sockets with more of these.

Doubtful origin / Lack of Leviton branding

I can't tell whether this is a genuine Leviton receptacle, because it came just thrown in the shipping box without any sprt of protection. Normally Leviton products come branded and inside a small cardbox saying either "Commercial", "Preferred", or "Residential". So I have my doubts about the origin of this thing.

Poor Packaging

Outlets worked fine and are good quality. Problem with the packaging. All 10 were loos and unprotected in one plastic bag - rubbing against each other in transit caused scratches on the face - minor but visible when used at eye level like in a bath or kitchen counter. Surprised since bulk (contractors pak) from Lowes or HomeDepot are boxed with cardboard separators. These should be fine if you use them at the traditional floor level.

Excellent tamper proof receptacle

My house is a 1947 build with at least two major renovations so I purchased a couple of these receptacles to replace a couple of old worn receptacles that would no longer hold in appliance plugs, particularly the vacuum cleaner, and couldn't be happier. These receptacles are easy to install, hold appliance plugs firmly, and I really like the tamper resistant feature particularly with a newborn in the house.

I had installed a couple of Home Safe outlet covers over other receptacles but think I will replace them with these receptacles. I would also highly recommend the Leviton X7599-W SmartlockPro Slim GFCI Tamper-Resistant Receptacle for wet, or high use areas if you want to spend the extra $$$.

Leviton is the only choice for some items.

The price is not great, but Leviton is the only choice for some colors and items. More power to them for taking care of the market with their products and making a better margin because of it.
