Directions

- Keep wick trimmed to 1/4" before lighting each time
- Do not burn for more than 2 hours at a time
- Remove all packaging including wick holder before lighting
- Burn only on flat non-flammable surface
- Always remove wick clippings and debris before lighting

Finally, A Root Beer Candle!

In the interest of full disclosure, let me begin by saying that I am a candy/comfort food/baked-goods candle junkie. So, candles that can make a room smell like something delicious is on the stove or in the oven are my hands-down favorites. Unfortunately, finding a candle that can actually do this is not easy and most are disappointingly light-scented to the point where you have to sit next to it to for the full effect or, even worse, they just don't smell like the thing they are supposed to represent.

Not so with these OUR OWN CANDLE COMPANY mason jar candles. I have tried all of the following and, with the exception of the Hot Apple Pie (which IMO smells too sharp and needs something to make it smell more like the pie is in the oven), these candles are nothing less than awesome. The aromas are authentic and strong enough to spread around the room (or rooms depending on where you place it) without being overpowering: Root Beer Float (5-stars), Caramel Pecan (5-stars), Banana Split (5-stars), Apple Pie/Cinnamon/Vanilla (3.5-stars), Oatmeal Cookie (5-stars), Buttercream (5-stars), Chocolate Peppermint (5-stars), Smell My Nuts (5-stars), Hot Apple Pie (3-stars)

I should also mention I'm not a big fan of mason jar candles, primarily because it's is difficult to find warmers/shades for these and that can make a big difference in how evenly the candle burns down in the jar (the company does have a shade available on their web site so I've ordered one to see if it works). I prefer the jars with a 3" mouth, especially the 14oz. size so I wish these folks would consider offering these wonderful scents in a different jar style.

These candles have long, sturdy wicks, so you will want to trim the wick down to about an inch or so before lighting it the first time. As a precaution, let it burn for about 30 minutes outdoors or somewhere where soot won't be an issue, then let it cool and trim the wick to where it's no more than a half-inch above the wax. Like all jar candles, make sure you trim the wick before each use to prevent carbon soot. If you see soot coming off the candle after lighting, then the wick needs trimming. If you follow this little bit of maintenance, you shouldn't have any issues with soot.

Great smell, but doesn't smell like "Root Beer" IMHO

I REALLY love this candle and I plan to buy more from "Our Own Candle Company" (this was my first one). It has a nice, high quality scent and it isn't overpowering like some candles can be. That said, I really have to use my imagination to smell the root beer in it. To me it smells like a kitchen about an hour after the brownies came out of the oven.

The scent is subjective; but I'd definitely recommend this candle and will probably purchase it again when it burns out. As a bonus, once it burns out you'll have a nice glass for your cupboard; so it's a no-lose purchase!

Where's the scent?

This candle has a very light scent. You can not smell it when you aren't standing right above it. And what little scent it does have doesn't smell like any rootbeer float I've had. It's a very artificial scent. There's no creamy vanilla notes and no fizzy soda notes. I'd skip this next time.

I've been buying this company's candles for years, and this is the first one that I did not enjoy from the get-go. I was looking for something to use in the kitchen to cover up food odors, but this isn't it. It's a VERY sweet fragrance- more vanilla than anything else. I find it cloying and unenjoyable. Although it was well packaged and arrived quickly and in great condition- which merits the 2 starts.

Love the candle.Smells amazing!! Well protected with bubble wrap. Also small world I just got my order in and looked at the candle lid and seen the name and place it came from which is my dad's home town

Findley Lake ,Ny also my cousins house is literally a rock throw from this place.Your wonderful candle traveled all the way to Cullman,Alabama.

It tickles your nose when you smell it, even before you light the candle! You can smell and even kind of taste the root beer float . Our Own Candle Company is fcking amazing. And you know I'm not paid to say that, cause I swore.

This is the best root beer candle ever! I was wondering if anyone can recommend a strong cinnamon scent? I love the smell of a fire ball cinnamon!!! Also this candle wax is so rich and soft that if you have a problem with the wick, just spoon it out and burn the wax in a tart burner! I've been burning the root beer scent over and over again! It last forever!!!

This burned for a very long time. Smells exactly like a root beer float. All that's missing is the fizzy that gets in your nose when ya drink-haha. It was packaged in a cute little box, so it's perfect for gift giving.

I don't usually like to buy candles I can't smell in person, however Root Beer scent is really hard to find. So after reading reviews, I took a chance on this one. And I am so glad I did. The aroma is wonderful. It sincerely smells EXACTLY like a root beer float! I love it! Although it doesn't seem extremely strong scented, it is strong enough for us. I have it in a large open family room/kitchen/dining great room that is two stories with the second story open to a loft. So I'm sure it would seem stronger in a smaller space. Also, I haven't noticed any black soot when I burn it, which is great! I will buy again.
