This product is junk. I have had out in my prek classroom for no more than 30 minutes and the product is failing. The pictures and numbers on top or just a piece of paper glued onto the wood. It's bad enough to spend your own money buying classroom items....it's really bad when the item fails so quickly.

Though my grandchildren enjoy these, was very disappointed in the durability. My daughter recommended these for the children and I was enthused about them. Less than a day after opening them on Christmas, I noticed labels peeling and edges frayed. Daughter told me not to worry, as she would be supervising the kids when using these, and that she liked them. I used them with the kids and was impressed with their ability to recognize the figures. Given the reactions, still like the product, despite the quality.

Good to Learn Counting

I bought for my son who is little over 2.5 yrs. he already knows numbers 1-100 and knows some counting. I want to make sure his fundamentals are good. It is a great puzzle to learn counting. I liked pieces from 1-10 and their design. For pieces 11-20, I think puzzle pieces should have bigger like double the size in length and width. Kids need space to count when there are too many items.

I love most Melissa and Doug toys, but this particular number puzzle is awful. The wood puzzle pieces splinters off where they meet together. Not the expected quality you'd expect from M & D products.

This wooden puzzle offers a nice concept of teaching counting to children.

But the way items are aligned in the puzzle is not good, they are sort of jumbled are not in a proper fashion

due to which it becomes very tough for children to count them properly ( specially for the 2 digit numbers).

My son use to like it but bcs of the complexity of alignment of pictures ne lose his interest as if the counting goes wrong puzzle will not fit.

Let me first start off by saying I love Melissa & Doug toys... but this one was sadly a miss. First off, several pieces of the puzzle chipped and tore while being taken apart. Secondly, the pictures that you are supposed to count aren't really done very well. They are not side by side, one under the other, and that makes it very difficult for my young son to count. Since the pictures are kind of all over the place layout wise, he gets confused on what he has and hasn't counted and ends up getting very frustrated.

I am sad to give such a low star review, but there are several things I didn't like about this product. 1. how it was cut. there were defects (not big) noticeable to me. 2. I didn't like the flimsy plastic lid. it did not fit snug when I put the pieces back up, it just falls right back out. 3. this is more of a personal dislike, but my kids just couldn't, or wouldn't, get into using these pieces but that may change as they get older.

I'm not sure this is that suitable for my 2 year old. She does well with the smaller numbers and she KNOWS her numbers up to beyond 20 but the pictures on the opposite half of the puzzle piece are kind of just scattered and not easy to count since there's no order.

Best puzzles for preschool

These are the best number and alphabet puzzles for preschool because of the self correcting feature! I hade bought dollar spot puzzles at target but noticed they all fit together whether correct or not so I upgraded to these quickly.

Defect?

Good idea but the cut outs weren't on the spots they should have been, so if we used it our child could have guessed based on the red or blue, etc color that was cut off on to the matching pieces. Maybe it was defective because it doesn't look like that in the pictures.
