Product Description
4 oz of Activated Charcoal Powder, packaged in a resealable bag. Activated Charcoal is used as a purifier. It is highly proficient at removing color, flavor, and odor compounds from liquids such as juice, wine, and sweeteners. Starwest's Activated Charcoal is made from sawdust and therefore is a renewable resource. As a wood-based activated carbon, it is highly adsorbent due to the particles' large surface area and high volume of pores compared to activated charcoal produced from other, non-wood materials. In fact, wood-based carbon has twice the pore volume as carbon created from coal, lignite, and coconut. As a result, high purification happens in a shorter time while using less carbon. This Activated Charcoal is food-grade quality and is considered to be GRAS (generally regarded as safe in food processing).Features
- Activated Charcoal Powder made from US HARDWOOD has a higher pore density than charcoal powder produced from other sources.
- HIGHER PORE DENSITY along with this being an ultra-fine charcoal powder means it absorbs better and is great for a variety of applications, from whitening teeth to detoxifying skin and even for use in emergency kits.
- Produced and packaged in the US.
- 100% FOOD GRADE activated charcoal.
- 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed - Return Product for any reason for refund or replacement** (See details below)

Will whiten teeth well but really a mess and stainsby C. Lea (3 out of 5 stars)

Product does do a good job of whitening teeth but is EXTREMELY messy. The powder floats everywhere and will stain - get a black towel for the bathroom! I usually use InVitamin tooth powder with activated charcoal which has baking soda as well as charcoal and very pleasant peppermint taste - it doesn't have this problem at all. I bought this because the InVitamin got rid of most staining right away but is slower on those hard to reach stains. I thought the pure charcoal might be faster. That appears to be true but not sure it is worth the staining and clean up issues. I will try to not get too irritated to use this up but will repurchase the InVitamin product.
I am also not happy with the Starwest packaging - although it is supposed to be resealable I have two products from them and neither one will reseal. Even before you open it there is product between the seal and the top of the bag - so when you open the bag some product flies everywhere. So I have had both tumeric and charcoal fly about the kitchen. At least the tumeric has enough weight to not waft through the air. Bulk Supplements makes a much stronger and really resealable bag.

I bought this to put in my homemade toothpaste powder. It is good for whitening teeth but be careful it may affect capped or filled teeth 2 an odd color although I've had no problems. I found out later it is also good for the skin so I mix it with cream and do a mask and then rinse it for my skin. It is a good detoxifier for the skin. I'm sure it has other uses too
At least I know it's a good cleaner

Well, I kinda knew this would happen. Accident prone freak + big bag of black powder = big mess. On the bright side, it made my tiles super white after I spent 20 years cleaning it up.
Great for Teeth Whitening

This is a great product to use for tooth whitening. It is extremely messy though so I suggest when this product arrives, get a big zip lock bag and a pair of scissors. I put the charcoal in the ziplock bag, cut it open and use a plastic spoon to put the amount needed into a plastic cup. Then you can zip up the bag containing the charcoal and keep it in the zipped up ziplock bag. Your countertops and floors will thank you. This powder has been excellent for getting my teeth several shades whiter and a little goes a long way-- this one bag will last a long time. Recommended.
Stop the baking soda damage!

I've only used this a few times as a teeth whitener but it's amazing. Better than any other commercial or DIY that I've tried. Baking soda works wonders but the damage it does to your teeth is insane. Brushing with this a few times a week, and then easing off to every other week has made my teeth whitener and in a less damaging way. Will be trying more recipes soon!
**WARNING** close bag with caution!!

Great product, exactly what I was expecting. I received the charcoal dry and clump-free, in a sealed bag. It was perfectly in tact; I used it for a homemade toothpaste. **WARNING** when closing the bag, close it slowly and with caution!! I made the mistake of closing it like I would any other zip-sealed bag, and a huge cloud of charcoal blew out and got on everything!! My husband did not take my warning seriously, and the exact same thing happened to him! But still in all, a great product!
Works but Packaging is Disastrous

Unfortunately, I had to throw mine out. This packaging is not good at all to contain the charcoal. It send charcoal particles flying everywhere anytime I try to close the bag and it leaves a black coating on EVERYTHING.
I had a charcoal explosion in the bathroom because of the packaging and it ended up taking me over an hour to clean everything up, plus it left stains on the tile grout. I did like it for what I was using it for: whitening my teeth. I could certainly tell the difference but because of how messy this is, I ended up throwing it out.
I would look for a better packaging than this bag. Maybe a tub or other container? This definitely doesn't work if you want to keep everything looking nice and clean and don't want to waste your time cleaning up a big old mess.

Love it. I mix it with Bentonite clay and Apple Cider Vinegar for a great face mask! Helps clear acne, shrink pores. I hear some people eat it (capsules) so maybe I will buy some empty capsules and try it (after some googling that is, to see what the benefits and drawbacks are). If not, it's fine to just use it as a mask, which is why I bought it. Some other ideals are yo mix it with shampoo's, conditioners, face wash ;) I like buying it loose like this for that flexibility, and this seems a good quality. Be careful though - it gets everywhere if you are not!
Awesome toothpaste alternative

This product is awesome. I bought it for two reasons: Toothpaste replacement and teeth whitening. I am trying to get into a lifestyle of using products (lotions, body wash, etc) that only have natural ingredients. I really wanted to find a natural way to whiten my teeth without paying hundreds of dollars at a dentist and without putting all of those chemicals into my body. After much research, I found that activated charcoal works great. As a bonus, I found that it can also be used to brush your teeth instead of toothpaste. I've been using it for a few weeks now and so far so good. I don't use anything else....not even mouthwash. I also brush my tongue with it for fresh breath. Activated charcoal absorbs bacteria and tannins in the mouth. My teeth feel much cleaner than usual and my teeth are much whiter. It does take a few months for your teeth to become it's maximum white color so I'm not 100% there yet. I love brushing my teeth with it, however it is SUPER messy. I have to wipe my sink down every time I brush my teeth and I pretty much have to keep my mouth closed as much as possible to minimize the mess. But it's worth it if I don't have to put any chemicals in my mouth on a daily basis for the rest of my life.
Great For Teeth Whitening

I use charcoal powder for brushing my teeth. This one is a good one but still overpriced for what it is. It comes in a resealable pouch but as in all charcoal it still makes one heck of a mess. I transfer the contents to a bottle which makes it easier to use. The taste is neutral, not much of any at all.
For those of you that are unaware or looking into brushing your teeth with charcoal it's pretty simple. Brush your teeth once a day with plain charcoal for one week, then once a week after that. Do not get the charcoal in the bag wet. No need to add water to the toothbrush because your saliva will be enough. Brush for two minutes then rinse. In one week your teeth will be glowing white without any use of harsh chemicals like bleach. Yes it's a mess but with some practice and creativity you'll get the hang of it.
