Product Description

The 3M Medipore H Soft Cloth Surgical Tape is the same soft, latex-free, hypoallergenic, conformable tape as standard Medipore tape, but with increased gentleness and stronger adhesion for more challenging applications. Available in perforated rolls. Medipore H tape is a non-woven polyester, soft, highly conformable tape. It has excellent adhesion yet is gentle to skin, reducing the risk of skin irritation. Medipore H tape is comfortable, porous and breathable. It stretches to accommodate swelling and movement. The tape is perforated so that you can tear tape off the roll by hand. It is easy to handle, with or without gloves, without curling edges, or sticking to itself. Medipore H tape is particularly useful for securing wound dressings, tubing and catheters, and repeated applications where preservation of "at risk" skin is critical. Benefits More gentleness than Medipore tape Higher adhesion than Medipore tape Latex-free and hypoallergenic for sensitive patients Excellent cross and diagonal stretch to accommodate moderate swelling or movement Easy-tear perforated rolls for quick tailoring No paper liner for more economical and efficient use Water-resistant Suggested Applications When repeated taping is needed and preservation of at risk skin is critical Securing over areas where skin may stretch (e.g., edema, distention, hematoma formation or movement). Anchoring post-surgical dressings Used as retentive sheeting over gauze Product Specifications and Packaging H Soft Cloth White color

EXCELLENT PRODUCT WITH ADDED BONUS
by Sally (5 out of 5 stars)

I am very pleased with tape. Excellent price. Tape can easily be torn every 2". I need 4", so I tear it at second perforation. I have to clean wound and bandage twice a day for 4 weeks. Paying drug store price was getting expensive. Plus, I had to cut theirs. Had surgery on face just above eyebrow, which is a very sensitive area. I have to be cautious about properly protecting wound so that I do not get infection. This tape adheres to my skin securely and doesn't harm skin. Prior to using tape, you may have better luck cleaning skin with rubbing alcohol and making sure it is completely dry prior to adhering tape. That's what I do. Another hint is to lightly press down on tape after it is in place. This makes a more secure seal. UNEXPECTED BONUS: Am sure manufacturer did not intend for tape to be used in this way ... I use one square and a marking pen to label containers prior to putting them in refrigerator/freezer. Works great. Have tried several things that didn't work, including labels for that purpose. Packaging tape works,, but very difficult to remove it when cleaning container. This tape is easy to remove. Tape has to be applied to a dry container pry to placing in fridge. Doesn't work on cold damp containers.

While it isn't perfect and can take some getting used to I have ...
by Bob C. (5 out of 5 stars)

After Chemo, a stem cell transplant and graft v host disease my skin has become very sensitive. The adhesive in surgical tape tears my skin apart. Even paper tape can do that if it's pulled off with force. Finally I came across the medicare tape from 3M on Amazon. While it isn't perfect and can take some getting used to I have a much better chance of doing no or minimal damage to my skin when it is removed.

A couple of tips:
- Don't bother using scissors, the tape will just get stuck to the blades and you end up throwing this expensive tape in the trash. The tape is perforated though it's very hard to see the perforations. You have to tear across the perforations to get a workable piece of tape.
- Do NOT use an alcohol rub to release the Mdeipore from your skin. The alcohol will defeat the easy removal promised by 3M. Just pull it gently away from your skin. If you have a care giver available ask them to pull your skin so there is no loose skin around the removal site. That will make it easier to remove the tape.

... or 5 name brand tapes that was just a waste of money
by Todd F. (5 out of 5 stars)

I've been through 4 or 5 name brand tapes that was just a waste of money. I have a chronic wound on my heal from Achilles surgery and need to keep my wound clean. This tape has stuck with me through the shower and adheres very well even for the complicated heal area. Even after getting wet, you still have to peel this tape off. The name brand tape would curl up and fall off. That reminds me, this tape keeps my bandage in place while sleeping, whereas the other's I need to secure with a sock. I highly recommend.

Perfect If Allergic to Tape - Long Sticking Power
by J. Miller (5 out of 5 stars)
February 2, 2017

This is the only tape I have found that sticks to me and doesn't cause itching, a rash, or redness. I seem to end up with many surgeries, so I always keep this on hand in a special hiding place so I have it when I need it. Paper tape works for about an hour's worth of sticking power. This lasts for days.

Softest yet strongest cloth tape I have found.
by SLSmith (5 out of 5 stars)

This is the only tape I will use for my elderly mother. It is gentle on her skin but adheres well to surgical pads I use for sores/blisters on her feet, ankles and lower legs. It adheres even more to itself, so you have to be careful. If it sticks to itself it is almost impossible to undo. Most times I have to start over with a new strip. The perferations are at 1" intervals so you don't lose top much to waste and they separate without problem. The rolls are just the right length to manage one-handed. Overall this is free softest yet strongest tape I have found. I will not use anything else.

Do not like how 1" holds up on his daily activity
by Sheila Barnett (5 out of 5 stars)

Use 2X day on husband for his dialysis surgical site, was getting thru insurance & they changed to 1". Do not like how 1" holds up on his daily activity, these 2" are much better for his needs. The perforation tear off is also at 2", which works well. When insurance stopped sending 2" I researched online and these are much cheaper & still have good fabric quality. I was thrilled with this purchase & will continue to buy every few months.

Great stuff
by JCT (5 out of 5 stars)

Strong wrap, yet perforated, so you can get a tight wrap without it tearing at perforations until you tear it. Thus, no scissors needed. Great for dressing your own wounds. Holds well, no pain to hair on skin when you rip it off. Sticks to skin, itself and gauze, does not come off when skin gets wet or you sweat. No allergy issues for those of us with sensitivities to latex and some medical adhesives.

Easy to use

I apply lidocaine cream to each arm twice a week before needle sticks. Before I started using this tape, the cream would get all over my clothes before I could get to the hospital for the procedure. The tape prevents this and helps the cream absorb faster into my skin. It's easy to use and easy to remove. The perforations in the tape mean you don't have to use scissors to cut it to size.

I purchased this tape for a patient because their insurance does not cover enough supplies of what I need to complete his care. This came in a large supply/quantity and will help hold him over for several weeks of care. I love medipore tape and have worked with it in the past. This company shipped very quickly which was important for me because I needed this supply for direct patient care. Product was exactly as described and is durable yet gentle to the skin.

best tape for long term dressings I've used...
by old cars rule (5 out of 5 stars)
September 16, 2014

this is the best tape of its kind I've ever used and I've used a lot different tapes...

most folks who - like myself at present - must have regular dressing changes over an extended period of time [at least 1 month up to several months or even longer] care about 2 factors primarily... that the dressing stays put and that there's no kin reaction/damage from the tape used to hold the dressing in place... the latter because often the damage to skin from the tape itself can develop into another serious skin breakdown problem....

this tape conforms very well to unusual curves [I have to use it on the side of my hip].... sticks and holds extremely well, even for several days.... is water moisture/resistant...and leaves the least glue residue.... it also causes the least skin damage/inflammation from all other surgical/medical tape types I've used, to me the most important aspect...

one should still try to vary a location slightly as to where the tape is being placed on the skin during each - or every other - dressing change to avoid placing the tape over the exact same spot. to minimalize the potential for skin damage... however, I've gone as long as 6 days with the tape over the same exact spot continuously [i use a 'tegaderm/duo-derm' type of hydrocolloid dressing which must remain in place for at least a few days in order to function properly] without any redness to my skin where the tape was glued at... that's remarkable in my book....

i'm a c5-7 wheelchair bound quadriplegic for nearly the 25 past years thus susceptible to pressure/bed sores... I was introduced to this tape via nurses from a wound care clinic's home visiting service when I had a nasty stage 4 pressure ulcer wound on my other hip a few years back and they used this tape to adhere dressings to the wound...

presently I have a pressure/burn combination wound on my other hip and am using the same tape for hydrocolloid patch type dressing therein... just ordered 3 more rolls and I'd recommend this tape for similar purposes more than any other brad/type I've tried.... a tape which works properly AND doesn't contribute to more potential problems under extended usage time can be worth its weight in gold for folks who are prone to skin damage....

fyi, it also comes in large [around 8" x 11"] sheaths which one can then trim/shape with scissors to a desired shape, for the trickiest/toughest places on one's body such as buttocks, joints, etc...

it resists moisture very well
