Continued Effectiveness Unlike Other PPIs I've Taken

I have tried just about every PPI (proton pump inhibitor) made (Prilosec, Prevacid, Nexium, Protonix) for a chronic acid reflux condition that I've had about twenty years now. Some worked for a period of time before losing their effectiveness. I started taking Zegerid daily about eight years ago, and this medication continues to work better for me than any other PPI I've tried. My understanding is that Zegerid is composed a slightly different formulation of omeprazole compared to that in Prilosec and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). Now, sometimes I feel a bit full after taking a capsule, but a good belch takes care of that issue.

In the past I always purchased Zegerid at Target, but even when I had a coupon to save several dollars the drug cost at Target was no cheaper than Amazon's. In fact, after I chose the subscription option so that I get a box automatically sent to me every month I'm actually paying a bit less with Amazon than I'd pay at Target even with a coupon. And it's damn convenient too!

So, in short, I'm very happy with Zegerid as well as Amazon's price and subscription option and hope this PPI continues to work as effectively for me in the future as it has in the past.

This is magic!!

I have gerd and it's pretty severe. I had been taking meds for years and it didn't do much. I've been taking this for a week and I have had no acid reflux what so ever. I need to find out if it can only be taken for 14 days or if it can be taken everyday forever. I never want to stop taking this. The results are amazing!

Personally, I prefer this over Prilosec or nexium. I'm no doctor so I'm only saying my experience. Use at your own discretion. I suffer from severe GERD (or acid/bile reflux) and this medicine has been a life saver. One a day and wait an hour before food. It lessens the indigestion pain in my stomach considerably and eases the acid. I recommend based solely on my experience. I cannot judge for anyone else nor am I advising. Just my honest opinion. Consult your PCP or Gastro first.

I was first recommended Zegerid years ago from a gastroenterologist after a scope, and determining that I had built up an immunity of sorts to typical OTC heartburn meds. At the time Zegerid was by prescription only. It was a GAME CHANGER. After losing my health insurance that would have helped cover the cost of Zegerid, it was moved to an OTC medication, and has been part of my daily regimen since then. I recommend it to all my peeps who suffer from heartburn- even infrequently. I can take it and have a noticeable difference within a matter of minutes. Omeprazole + Baking Soda = long term treatment + immediate relief

The review by Amazonian on 02/23/ 2011 is spot on! (I used the same headline as Amazonian's for my review.)

I always have relief from my heartburn after taking a Zegrid (usually within 20 minutes or less) and it's not because of the omeprazole - it's the baking soda. Because I get fast relief, I take it consistently, which means the omeprazole has a chance to help long-term. Otherwise I'd forget to take it on a daily basis, which is why I never had long-term benefits from omeprazole by itself since I wasn't med-compliant.

I always keep Zegrid on hand - it's in my purse, in my bathroom, in the med cabinet, etc...

The Best Acid Reflux Medication Out There!

I was diagnosed with acid reflux disease years ago. I tried many over the counter as well as prescription drugs and the only medication that has ever worked for me is Zegerid. I honestly don't know what I do without it. I take it once a day and it helps tremendously with the severe pain reflux can cause.

Works better then prevacid for me

Take two tums plus one pill, feel better in a hour or less. Sodium builds up in me and it makes me either feel like I'm going to be sick to my stomach or just makes me miserable. Used to take prevacid and while it worked, just wasn't cutting it. Found this at a garage sale, recommended by her doctor, but she didn't use it, she had other symptoms. So brand new. And now this a tums and I'm set.

Great Alternative to the 'Purple Pill'

As many will others will no doubt experience, my co-pay for prescriptions has increased enormously. A 3 month supply of the 'purple pill' was going to cost $180! I did some research online and read reviews, etc.. turns out this product is almost identical to the purple one but is OTC. I was on 40mg of purple and took two of these initially and had no issues in the transition. I began taking only one 20mg and still all good. Zero issues in transition and many $$ back in my pocket!! YES!

I was on the purple one for years as a result of stomach issues from migraine meds. And had to take it every day or would suffer so it was a must for me. It was so nice to find a cheaper alternative!

Relieves your Reflux

I have been using this product for months now and has been very helpful in getting rid of my acid reflux. Now I do not have to wake up late at night with reflux. It gives you fast-acting relief from hyperacidity. I like the omeprazole being paired with sodium bicarbonate it relieves you too from gastric gases.

This is the best price I have ever seen for these! Usually they're a couple dollars more. I used to buy them at a local store but they stopped selling them! These are the ONLY heartburn pills that work for my husband, he actually takes 2-3 a day but they work very quickly! After just a few minutes they'll make you burp and you'll start feeling better. We buy the 42ct every month and definitely recommend to any other heartburn sufferers!
