Oil Rubbed Bronze - Beware Painted-on Finish
by G. Green (1 out of 5 stars)
May 22, 2015

As other reviewers have noted, the oil rubbed bronze finish is painted on. I purchased this in 2011 and the paint started chipping soon after it was installed, exposing the silver metal underneath. Not what you want to see in your otherwise matched sink. After enough of how ugly it was, I finally pulled it out in 2015 and replaced it with a Kohler K-11352-2BZ, which appears to have a finish that is more durable. If you have a stainless steel sink, the Insinkerator might be ok, but I can't recommend the oil rubbed bronze.

Love the product, HATE THE LARGE STAMPED IN LETTERING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by MEB (2 out of 5 stars)
October 10, 2017

InSinkErator is great as far as function goes, and is really a terrific garbage disposal, but as a company, I really wish you would listen to your design savvy clients. Pros: This item is a perfect color match with my new Blanco 441093 Decorative Basket Waste Strainer, Stainless Steel. I would have given it 5 stars, but Cons: PLEASE INSINKERATOR - do you just HAVE TO have your company name so large right in the middle of the sink flange???? It totally ruins the entire look of what I'm going for with an expensive counter tops and Blanco Cinder granite sink. I almost changed garbage disposals because of the unflattering HUGE lettering. (And still might if it ends up bugging me too much.) PLEASE listen to your clients, because we love your product, but WE DON'T WANT "INSINKERATOR FOOD WASTE DISPOSER" STAMPED INTO THE TOP OF OUR SINK FLANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheap, will chip no question
by Nicole McCleary (1 out of 5 stars)

What a waste of money. I would give it zero stars if I could. We ordered the black to go with our black kitchen sink installed during a kitchen remodel last year. The black is painted on and started to chip off within a few months. A little over a year later and a quarter of the black paint is gone, leaving us with a flange that is half black/half stainless steel. Looks cheap and has ruined the look of our expensive sink. What makes it worse is that we had the flange professionally installed, which obviously wasn't cheap. Now we'll have to spend money not only on a new flange, but for a professional to remove this piece of garbage first. So in the end, this order will be a couple hundred dollar mistake.

DO NOT BUY THIS SINK FLANGE!
by Shelly K (1 out of 5 stars)

Should've gone with the reviews. The paint on ours is chipping, too. It looked great for the past year before the chipping began. So now we have to purchase another AND pay a plumber to install. Not a happy camper. BUYER BEWARE!!

What a piece of GARBAGE! No pun intended
by pam blacklidge (1 out of 5 stars)

What a piece of GARBAGE! No pun intended!!! After nine (9) months this powder/plastic coated flange originally in biscuit color has begun to peel. Had I known that it was not an official granite composite as the sink drain I would not have purchased. The drain I purchased along with my sink is the same material of the sink - granite composite. Needing this product quickly, I assumed the insink erator disposal flange was of the same quality. It was a pain in the neck to install and who wants a replacement for an item that will peel again in a few months. Now I have a biscuit colored peeling flange!! I am furious and that doesn't even begin to cover the anger my husband (installer) is going to feel when he sees the poor quality

of the product! DO NOT BUY!!!

Nice while it lasted
by Michelle,Top Contributor: Coloring (2 out of 5 stars)

I'm giving this thing two stars ONLY because it was perfect for my sink (porcelain-coated cast iron sink) and looked great, at least for a few months. I had this installed when our disposal was replaced on August 31, 2018. Yesterday, 1/20/19 (less than 5 months later), I noticed a "bubble" in the inner rim. I touched it (silly me) and it broke open. The bubble is where the coating is coming off. I took the picture before cleaning the sink, because it shows the bubble area, which I'm sure will break completely off once it's cleaned. I wish I had kept my old flange. It was probably 10 or 15 years old, and only damaged from where I carelessly tapped a fork, etc. on the edges around the top. This new flange has been treated with kid gloves. I NEVER touch ANYTHING to it except the food that's going past it. I'm even delicate when I wash the sink, because of all the other reviews about the chipping issues. This is absolutely ridiculous, and so disappointing. I need a white flange for my white sink, and I'd be willing to pay a small fortune for one that doesn't fall apart in just a few months! Now to buy another one, have my husband go to the trouble of replacing it, and hope the next one lasts more than a few months (not likely, from what I'm reading). My old flange was also an Insinkerator, same color, etc. I guess the manufacturer has cut enough corners that their products aren't worth purchasing anymore.

Don't buy
by Lance Emerich (1 out of 5 stars)
October 2, 2015

Finish started to chip off within days. These things should be made to last a long time but they aren't. When we called insinkerator about it we were asked if we had been using hot water in the sink and told that we shouldn't be. No hot water? In the kitchen sink?? They made us feel like it was our fault. To their credit they sent us a new one but I completely expect it to do the same thing. So I'm waiting for this one to get really bad before I swap it out. Things just aren't made the way they use to be.

Chipped after two months light use - and a BIG chip
by domingion (2 out of 5 stars)
May 10, 2017

HOWEVER ever only being in my sink two months the bronze took a huge chip and little nick under the name. I don't even cook that much or put any thing in the sink that would cause this kind of damage. It LOOKED GREAT until this happened! Looks like this has been an unsolved problem for a while. For $20 that paint should have been fused to a sanded surface not plain shiny chrome. A bit disappointed that it's by the brand name Insinkerator too.

Like many others, the paint is chipping off... poor workmanship/quality...
by Dr. Awesome (1 out of 5 stars)
August 12, 2019

We purchased this around March and within a few months there are already paint chips in it. You can tell by how it chipped that the paint job was poor and not meant to last, it is peeling from the metal. This is a very costly repair if you want it replaced, I bought the brand name because I though it would last. It couldn't even hold up for 6 months, I am extremely disappointed. Now I will have to remove and replace it, which I can do myself, but is inconvenient to say the least. And what do I replace it with? An off-brand that might do the same thing? This shouldn't be an issue... I should have read more reviews before I purchased it.

Do NOT Buy In Oil Rubbed Bronze! It will be a WASTE of money! Finish CHIPS Within a Month
by Margaret Levin (1 out of 5 stars)
May 1, 2017

Do NOT buy this item! I wish I had read the reviews more carefully. All of the top rating reviews either purchased in a stainless steel finish, they JUST installed the unit, or only mentioned the fit. The FINISH is horrible. My flange started chipping within a month of installation. And Insinkerator will do nothing to cover the installation of a new one. They will ship me a new one but why would I pay to install it after reading about so many customers that had the same experience of chipping within a month or so of use. I did NOT mistreat the flange or use any hard cleaners as the whole kitchen was just recently re-done. Don't WASTE your money!
