Way too big, Tiny magnetic area, deceptive appearanceby Dan A (1 out of 5 stars)
August 5, 2015
This thing is huge- so long it's difficult to put on, I have to overlap the strap almost the entire way. This thing easily fits around my bicep, and I'm not a weakling.. All the extra material makes it much bulkier than it needs to be, it feels and looks very awkward. The cheap stitching method also results in about 1/2" of useless material on the sides of the band (the black material in the picture), making it wider than it needs to be.
It's not obvious from the photo, but there are only two strips / panels that are magnetic- just enough to be positioned on the top or bottom or one side of your wrist- you can only use one of those areas unless you rotate the wristband. The black section with the MagnoGrip logo is NOT magnetic- it's the same size as the two magnetic panels next to it, and filled with something like neoprene to make it look like it's the same, but it isn't (I guess some foam is cheaper than magnets). For that deceptive reason alone, I might return this on principle.
Also while I called the magnetic sections 'panels', the whole panel is not magnetic. Each contains two round magnets (probably neodymium) about the size of a dime. There is no metal strip to spread the magnetism across the whole panel. While they are strong enough to work okay, it would be better with at least a third magnet in each strip, and maybe a thin metal plate to spread out the magnetism.
Finally, the velcro is poorly designed. There is a big square of velcro (hook side) on the inside of the wristband, as there should be, but then also a flap of velcro on top (above the Magnogrip logo). The reason for the additional flap is that due to the cheap way it's stitched, the velcro square does not extend close enough to the end of the band, and so the end of the band awkwardly sticks out without the extra velcro flap to hold it down. This seems like an afterthought, a crude fix to a design flaw. If this was the only issue, I could live with the cheap design
Overall this is a half-assed, deceptive product, the designers obviously cut corners in every way to save money. If they would make this sized for human wrists, replace the fake panel with a real one, use more magnets, and use a better stitching method to eliminate the need for the extra velcro flap (in that order of priority), this would be a good item. As is, it might get the job done, but it's mediocre at best. If you're the sort of person that appreciates quality, well thought-out tools, and gets irritated by s***ty design, you will not be happy with this.
it is USELESS, unless you are using it to hold two ...

Really? Why is this item rated so high? If you want an item that should hold your light weight "metal" (ferromagnetic) items; buy this item and you WILL wish you hadn't. This item did not make it through a single 8 hour work day after purchase for $11. I work in the construction trade Monday - Friday, 50 weeks a year, and THOUGHT this might be a very handy product for everyday metal items. I was wrong, it is USELESS, unless you are using it to hold two or three screws AND you have it placed on your wrist. The magnetic strength is equal to most cheap refrigerator magnets that continually fall off every time you attempt to place something behind them. I purchased this item to place my everyday drill/driver bits on my tool bag handle (Electrician) to be easily accessible. My thought was that it would be handy to easily access these items. I was wrong and HIGHLY recommend you find another product and do not waist your money as I did.
Not What I had hoped

Maybe I have too high of expectations, but this product does not come close to living up to them. First off the reason for two stars is that it does seem pretty durable, however that is where my enjoyment ends. The band has four small round magnets and as you can see from the picture I was only able to get 16 screws max on it before I put it on my wrist, which is decent, not great. But once on my wrist almost half of the screws fell off. These magnets are not strong at all, and since they are round, nothing placed in between them will stay. What a waste of space, why wouldn't you use a rectangular magnet with more surface area? Would cost me half as much to return it, so I guess I'll keep it for that time I need to hold a couple of screws on my wrist. I would not recommend trying to attached any tools to this as they will fall off.
Gets hot under this thing. And talk about weird tan lines!

I bought the MagnoGrip as a gift to my brother-in-law around Christmastime, but unfortunately, it didn't get here in time for Christmas. So I ended up picking him up something else and kept the wristband. I used it for a little while, but it always got really sweaty underneath the wristband, and wearing it for 4-5 hours if I was working on a long project made my wrist feel raw. Now don't get me wrong, it was still very convenient, but it didn't look very cool, and it was kind of uncomfortable. I hardly pick it up anymore due to those reasons.
Pros:
Convenient
Strong Magnets
Durable Material
Cons:
Gets hot underneath
Can chaff the skin under the band after prolonged use
Not very stylish.
Looks good but short on magnets

I really had high Hope's for this. I've been remodeling for the last month and have dropped screws so many times while on a ladder and then saw this in an ad for Home Depot...for whatever reason, it isn't stocked in the stores and they are unable to ship to Alaska...that's Ok, I have Amazon!!! I reviewed several before purchasing and the brand was highly thought of so this was my choice.... it arrived and i immediately put it to use. 210 lb Male, average size wrists, and it fit with room to spare, but could've also went tighter for smaller wrists. Stitching was good, materials were good, it is very comfortable to, i even forgot to take it off when i was called away unexpectedly.
But here is why it gets 3 stars...only two little panels are magnetic, about 4 square inches...that's it. Fir some reason i expected to have magnets all the way around. I mean it does hold a few screws, but i had hoped for I could've and will buy a different one that has more magnets.
Thick And Bulky And Too Cumbersome To Wear

This MagnoGrip is very well made, but it is 'over kill' for what it's intended purpose. The materials and padding are so thick and bulky, that it is heavy and cumbersome to wear. The overall length of the strap is THIRTEEN INCHES LONG, with a ONE & THREE/QUARTERS INCH Velcro extension strap at the end of it. This massive cuff only supports two small magnets that are thin and only strong enough to hold a few screws like you see in the stock photo in the listing. These magnets are too weak to hold small tools or anything else like that like some other brands for sale on Amazon. I am only using this for occasional household projects, so I'm not going through the effort to send it back. In my opinion, this is just one of those 'so-so' purchases that I have made on Amazon, and I wouldn't order another one if I need to replace it one day. I would not recommend this to anyone in contracting that was going to have to wear this every day.
Should be sold as exercise equipment

Very disappointed with this product. The wrist band measures 13-1/4" by 3-1/4" when layed out flat. That gives you a surface area of about 43 square inches. There are only 4 button sized magnets that are smaller than a dime (less than 1 square inch of magnetic surfaces or size of a quarter total). These small magnets are arranged side by side in only 2 of the stitched panels. Everything else you see in this wrist wrap is not magnetic. I tested this out installing wood trim with finish nail. Unless the nails touched both magnets, I spent more time dropping and picking up nails than it was worth. I could only get 4 or 5 nails to stick in place - the rest were subject to gravity. I tried it when installing light fixtures and toilet accessories. Any screws longer than 2-1/2" went flying with normal wrist movement - same with any washers. I tried it using small sheet metal screws when installing metal studs. Each magnet only held a couple of screws. I spent more time searching for and picking up dropped fasteners. The wrist band is huge and snags on ladders, door jambs, tool belts, clothing - all working to scrape or jar the fasteners to the ground. Just the act of dropping your arm to your side will drop any fastener not fully engaged on the small magnet or touching more than one magnet. There is more "branding" surface than magnetic surface - product labels. I ended up adding a few more magnets to salvage the purchase. Works better if you like working with a small porcupine attached to your wrist. Unless you need the exercise bending over picking up more fasteners than it holds - save your money. Can be used as a carpal tunnel brace ????
Too weak. - BUT you can improve 20 fold.

Tiny disc magnets that are glued onto slightly larger aluminum discs inside a strip of hard foam to make them feel larger.
Very weak to hold anything but some light screws. Can not recommend....
BUT - It's a very good wrist strap to cut side threads open, remove supplied magnets, then install super strong bar neodymium high gauss magnets that you buy online and then sew back up. NOW you have something special that can even hold a hammer without shaking off. Be sure to heat shrink the new bar neodymium magnets in thick heat shrink first because they can and will crack eventually but the heat shrink will hold them together. You'll love and use the strap then.
I purchased two when these straps were on sale here - you wouldn't believe how cheap. Look for a sale on camelcamelcamel.com
Weak magnets, too long for small wrists
by Stephanie (2 out of 5 stars)

I don't know how this has so many positive reviews. Perhaps the version I got has weaker magnets? There are only three magnetized sections in the whole band. The magnets are quite weak and I have the problem of screws constantly falling off.
The band itself is VERY long, which is great if you have really huge wrists, but mine are about 6" in circumference and I have a lot of trouble one-handedly wrapping this thing around my wrist tight enough because it is so long.
Overall way too bulky and weak. Returning.
It went in the garbage after one use

JUNK. I should have read the negative reviews. It will hold a few screws, but only in one section. If the screws are long or if you have several and a couple of drivers to switch out (square, torx, phillips), then your stuff will fall off. Not what I want when I'm at the top of a ladder. I tried to put some actual neodymium magnets in it, but it fell apart. It went in the garbage after one use.
