Great pot, but be careful with it!by Anonymous Subscriber (4 out of 5 stars)
June 10, 2017
I had bought one of these from a thrift shop for about three dollars. That's when I first began to love this pot. It does NOT drip, which is amazing in the world of teapots. When that one got a crack in it (from someone piling a bunch of dishes on top of it!) - I didn't want to throw it away (though I knew better from previous experience with washing a cracked glass that they can break on your hand). So I continued to use it, very gingerly, until one day I was in a hurry and began washing this pot. Well, it cracked and lacerated my knuckle clear to the bone, causing quite an effect. I needed nine sutures on my right knuckle and had to miss work for twenty-four days while the knuckle healed enough to be usable. I'm right-hand dominant and use a computer daily in my work. So the warning from this story is: Treat it very carefully, hand-wash and never pile dishes on it and it should not crack at all. But if perchance it should crack, don't keep it! The special, heat-resistant glass is extremely sharp when it breaks and it can cut you quite deeply. (To be on the safe side, I only use rubber gloves when washing dishes anymore, period.)

I purchased the Hario V60 Range Server, 800 Clear, 03, plus the Hario V60 Dripper, 02 (white, ceramic) with measuring spoon. Very nice products. They each deserve 5 stars -- maximum satisfaction.
It seems a shame to allocate less than 5 stars for these fine products, but what causes me to downgrade my evaluation is the fact that they glue paper stickers on the products that do not come off easily. If they're going to put on the stickers, they should use a glue that allows them to be easily peeled off. But they don't. You can't peel them off, you can't scrape them off without leaving a sticky, messy residue. And putting them through the dishwasher doesn't remove them either.
I know there are ways to get them off, but why in the world should one have to do that?
Delightful Single Server

Let's assume you're only interested in a coffee pitcher this small (360 ml) because you want to serve one or possibly two people with a cup of coffee in style. But maybe you've got a nagging feeling that this is a bit impractical and/or frivolous. After all, everyone at the cubicle farm carries around their own trusty mega-sized coffee mug, Dilbert-style.
This server wouldn't even fill one of those mugs.
So you decide to use this at home, if only to keep from being laughed-at by your pointy-haired boss. And you'll trot this little server out for company, or when you and your mate want to share a special coffee time together. Of course, if you want to serve two people from one vessel, you'll have to give them 8 ounce cups or smaller so you can fill them up more than half way. And if you're trying to duplicate the diner experience by providing each of your guests their own individual server, why buy this when you could use the real thing from a restaurant supply store?
Why indeed?
Because the real (vintage) restaurant individual server is a cheaper made affair that doesn't even pour without making a mess. Whereas this server is made out of heat resistant glass, with a glass lid that fits snugly (but still allows you to pour), thanks to a removable silicone seal, and a perfect dripless spout that sets the gold standard for dripless spouts. And the whole thing is extremely easy to wash clean by hand or in the dishwasher. And if you want to save your coffee for later, just keep the lid on and put it in the refrigerator.
But mainly, when you ask that special someone if they'd like some coffee, and you brew their very own cup and a refill and place this little gem of a server in front of them, you can be certain they will feel special indeed. Even if that someone is just yourself, carving out some well-deserved "me time".
Bottom line: this server is a class act. That coffee had better be good.
Wonderful set up for pour overs!

We got the full Hario pour over set because of the great price and the great reviews I saw, on Amazon and on coffee blogs. We've been very pleased with this. It's nice to be able to make several cuts for when guests come over, very easy to use, and makes excellent coffee. I only drink my coffee black now, so get a better chance to actually taste the coffee itself when it's not masked by milk and sugar. This makes great coffee! Highly recommend.
Love it

Excellent coffee pot, can make 2 mugs of coffee. At first I thought it was going to crack with the heat but it's been standing up strong with holding coffee everyday for the pass month

I avoided buying this for a long time because I assumed it would be just as good to use any old thing as a receptacle. after looking high and low - including thrift stores, in which you can effectively scan over time as well as distance - i conceded and bought this. it's a nicer experience using this versus anything else i found. i feel kind of frivolous buying anything for the kitchen that has only one obvious utility, but in this case it feels right.
i also use it for tea, so at least it does two jobs
I guess Hario automatically means 5 stars for some people?

Edit - After 6 months it finally cracked. I don't think I was being careless and I have no idea how it happened, but it is now in the trash, as expected.
Original review -
It's a very thin glass beaker. That's the first negative thing. I guess that's probably why the coffee doesn't stay hot very long. I preheat it with hot water, but it doesn't really make a difference. Once I'm on cup number 2 the water is lukewarm. Oh well. The thinness means it will probably break soon so I'll try something else when that happens!
Next, the handle. Not ergonomic. So, your pinky finger will likely hit the glass under the handle and that's hot. I'll probably drop it one day because of that.
Finally, the lid is nice and it pours well. It's not made in China. Yay. Instructions were in Japanese, but do we really need instructions for a carafe?
Does what it was designed to do

For me personally, this is a five star product. I dropped one star for those people that might actually use the cap/lid that comes with the carafe. It can be a booger to get into place so that it stays in place. I don't actually use it as I never store brewed coffee in the fridge unless it is cold brew, which I store in an air tight mason jar. But if you desired to brew and store coffee in the Hario Carafe, the lid could be difficult to use, especially for the elderly or someone with problems like arthritis is your hands or fingers.
Perfect for what it is

A little annoying to clean. My hand can't fit into the opening to wipe down the inside, so I have to use a brush or some other implement. Otherwise, this thing is perfect for what it is: a carafe with a stopper for pour-over brewing.
It doesn't retain heat like some aluminum double-walled monstrosity might, but you probably could have guessed as much. The 800ml version holds about 3 mugs of coffee, and by the time I'm on my second mug (I may be a slower coffee drinker than you) I'll heat the mug in the microwave for a little bit after pouring.
It's not a complaint, just a fact of life. I love this thing. It's much more convenient than doing a pour-over for every individual cup of coffee I want to drink.
Looks good, works good

There's not much that needs to be said here. It's a glass carafe. The glass appears to be of high quality, smooth edges, no deformities or warping in the glass. It has a very cute, Japanese design. It pours well without driping down the edge or anything like that. And the lid works well too.
