Why?
by Nozzle (5 out of 5 stars)

Why was I using lighter fluid? Was that the more "manly" approach? Like a moth, am I drawn to the flame? Has my obsession with The Doors preconditioned me to, 'Light My Fire'? Does my Miranda Lambert fetish require me to be a, 'Keeper of the Flame'? ...well, one thing is for sure, I know what I'll be talking about at therapy this week.

This little electric charcoal get-it-going dealy is great - saves time, gets the whole gaggle of coals heated and char... coaling (?). In a matter of 5ish flame-free minutes you're grilling nachos, homemade cookies, sushi, or just about anything else that frequents your grill.

Flames are for Lames. And you may not know it now, but electricity is the future. Well, children are the future. But electricity is also our future...

Look, the future is complicated. But this Starter isn't. So don't be like a moth - get all Tesla on your charcoal.

Very satisfied

This product works very well. I finally got tired of using simply my aluminum chimney to heat my charcoal. It took 20 minutes to get hot. Now with this device, the coals get hot in 7'-8'. I barbeque a lot and this starter makes it so much easier and quicker. Also, our home is situated in a breezy corridor. Lighting the charcoal in our aluminum chimney starter was often difficult because the breezes kept blowing out the wooden matches and the early fire. This product completely eliminates that problem. I highly recommend it.

Works as Advertised and at a Good Price
by Paul (5 out of 5 stars)

I shopped for a charcoal starter for my kamado-style grill. This is the only shape that works. There are other charcoal starters that are more expensive, but this one had the best price, good ratings, and when I checked the quality of the ratings, that also was good.

This works perfectly. It takes about 10-minutes to get my charcoal to a flame. The only downside, and this is probably true for any of the brands, is that after a few months of daily use, it burns out. I simply keep a backup handy to replace it when it burns out. If I use the grill 4-5 times a week during the summer, one of these makes it most of the way through the summer. Given the low price, I would not complain that the burner eventually burns through.

This is five stars. It works. The price is right. And it is unlikely you will find another brand that lasts longer.

works ok better than starter fluid
by slimpc (4 out of 5 stars)

I prefer this to using starter fluid. Only charcoal taste no hydrocarbon smell or taste. This works well. I gave it a 4* because in comparison to the previous one I owned (had to replace because I ran over it with my car in the garage), this seems to have a smaller capacity and just isn't quite as good. still it works well enough and the price was good; and I'm not going back to lighter fluid. also you can add more charcoal aroung the base before you light it or after you poor the coals before puttimg the grill over it.*** caution: use an oven mit, the handle gets very hot.

Griller's friend

This was actually bigger than we expected. I don't know why we didn't think it would be the size that it is, but it's nice. Definitely worth the money. We always struggle with charcoal when grilling out, it usually takes us a few tries before they catch. But with this, it works well! Glad we decided to go for it. We usually use gas, so this helps a lot when we use the charcoal side.

Complete Garbage
by H. Belloc (1 out of 5 stars)
August 27, 2018

My previous electric grill starter worked for about ten years. It stopped functioning only when the coil was eroded completely, eventually breaking apart entirely. This replacement worked three times before ceasing to function at all for reasons that are not apparent to the eye. I tested the electrical outlet, tried it in multiple outlets - nothing. There is no warranty stated. You get complete junk with this product. Pay a few bucks more and get something else. Do not settle for this crap.

Great Accessory

If you're looking for a way to start your coals without using starter fluid. FYI starter fluid does have cancer causing agents in it. But the grill pro electric starter is really good, in fact it worked better than I thought it would. It heats up in a few minutes, and pretty much does the same thing with the coals! I really like the fact that it can be used over and over again! So I have two now. An older friend of mine told me about it, I never knew it even existed.. So try it if you Barbecue a lot!

I used this for a HOME ALONe themed party. I placed it on the inside of the front door. I added orange el wire to make it glow. It worked great!

Nice charcoal starter
by MK (5 out of 5 stars)

Great Charcoal starter --- works well - read directions

I like this starter because I think it works faster than other methods.

I used to be afraid of the liquid starters -- plus my husband would always claim he could taste it on food. I don't think they sell that anymore - not around here anyway. Kind of wish ithe heating element was longer and bent a little like a cooking turner to fit under the coals easier
