WARNING "NON-TOXIC" Bold Faced Lie - False Advertisingby Tom (1 out of 5 stars)

I would recommend not buying this product. This product contains toxic ingredients. See attached photo and EWG for more info and less dangerous options. Rated F with high concern for developmental and reproductive toxicity amongst other things. The label says non-toxic right on the front yet poses multiple health risks. Seventh Generation should be sued for false advertising.
Not eco-friendly but works!

I refuse to use any other dishwasher gel. I have tried all eco-friendly brands at this point and was frustrated with how poorly they cleaned. There was always residue that was left over with other gels. Here's why I like this one the most:
1. My dishwasher is old and doesn't clean as well as newer models
2. Seventh Generation Dishwasher has consistently delivered
3. I also use the ECO rinsing aid with the gel for better results
Here's the kicker though, EWG.org does not rate the Gel as a stellar green detergent - http://www.ewg.org/guides/cleaners/2629-SeventhGenerationAutomaticDishwashingGelLemon. I have always trusted the Seventh Generation brand and am disappointed about the ratings. However, until something better comes along, I might just stick to this one.
Doesn't work.

I really wanted to like this dishwasher detergent but it just doesn't work. I have to totally wash my dishes before loading the dishwasher if I want clean dishes to come out with this detergent. It smells nice though. Now I have 5 bottles to use up- what a waste of money!
This Dishwasher Gel does two things fantastically!

It is with great disappointment that I have to write this review. First, I love Seventh Generation products. We use their products daily - almost our entire house is washed with their cleaning products (ourselves, our laundry, etc.)
Finding a great deal on 6 bottles of dishwasher gel was exciting as we always stock up on these types of products. We have never used their dishwashing gel up until now, oddly enough.
As I mentioned, this product does two things amazingly well - it will ruin your dishwasher and coat EVERYTHING with disgusting film. I understand that there are certain chemicals that must be avoided when creating a "green" product. Saying this, with the water pressure and heat in a dishwasher, the standards are set fairly low for what can classify as an effective dishwashing gel...and this really just isn't a product that should be sold. It simply does not clean anything (our dishes quite literally turn out cleaner when we ran it without Seventh Generation Dishwasher Gel - yes, we tested).
With the positive reputation that Seventh Generation has, they would benefit greatly by simply not selling this product anymore. Had I bought one bottle, I wouldn't have really cared - it would have been a learning process. However, putting out money for 6 bottles of nasty film that ruined our dishwasher is agitating.
Great buy

I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews about this liquid leaving a film on dishes. I love this stuff. I purchased a 6 pack last year in February and I am just now getting ready to make my second order. I run my dishwasher once every other day or every three days and my dishes come out very clean. I do notice some buildup in my dishwasher near the bottom of the door but it's easily wiped away with a paper towel.
Terrible product

I really love this dishwasher detergent. I see it gets a lot of negative reviews saying that it doesn't clean the dishes, but I have found that it exceeds any other dishwasher detergent that I have tried. Yes, some food may get left on if it's really dried on there but I have found that to be the case with other chemical laden detergents as well and it works great with our hard water! We have extremely hard water and it hardly ever leaves a film on anything (which is a miracle). For me, rinsing my dishes prior to putting them in the dishwasher is a small price to pay for no film and less chemicals. The lemon scent is very pleasant too!
Does Not Clean Dishes - Waste of Money

Can someone please tell me a natural dish detergent that actually works? With so many smart, caring people, it shouldn't be this hard. I ordered a case of Seventh Generation Dishwasher Detergent, and it was so awful, but I thought it must be my dish washer, so I actually bought a new dish washer! Nope, it was the detergent. I tried the Seventh Generation in the new dish washer, and the dishes were dirty. The dish washer is a good one, a portable GE, so I tried the old dish washer with chemical laden cascade, and lo and behold clean dishes. Worked in both dish washers. I just cannot poison the waters, so I tried Method, and the same thing - it doesn't clean dishes. I ran the dish washer on pots and pans cycle, even though it was just dishes. I ran it on high temp wash, and I ran it through twice for the same load. Still, the dishes were dirty. I hear that Mrs Meyers Dish Washer Detergent works great. It costs more, so I didn't get it, but I only wasted my money on these awful products.

I am disappointed in this product. My dishes and glasses do not seem clean as there is a film on them and the glasses look cloudy. Definitely does not work nearly as well as the chemical based cleaners, and I wasn't expecting it to, but I was hoping it would work better. One of the comments said the cloudiness is due to using too much, so I tried using less but it didn't help. I won't be purchasing this again but I have 6 jugs of this stuff I have to get through so I guess I just won't have really CLEAN dishes for awhile. Will use something else when company comes over as I do not want to serve food and drinks in "cloudy" glassware. Pretty bummed:(

I was really excited about this purchase. I thought it was a good deal and I like the idea of a natural cleaner since I'm washing baby bottles in my dishwasher. However, I am SUPER DISAPPOINTED since this detergent leaves a film on all my dishes. Now I am stuck with 6 bottles of it.
