I was nervous about buying this because others mentioned it didn't completely prevent water from draining. We have tried other sink stoppers that didn't fit, but we finally decided to try an official insinkerator, since that's our sink brand. It worked perfectly. I just have to push it down a bit into the sink, and it forms a tight seal, and no water drains at all. So relieved because dish-washing was getting to be a real pain.

Doesn't work for my kitchen sink.

I bought this so I could fill the sink and soak dirty dishes that didn't get cleaned right away. The sink stopper doesn't actually fit IN the opening so I placed it on top of it. If the stopper is nudged in the least it will easily displace the sink stopper, which defeats the purpose. Even though I thought it was well sealed on top of the garbage disposal area I set the dishes to soak around lunch time and three hours later the water had completely drained down the sink.

I wouldn't recommend this product.

Replacing the same one after almost 7 years

After 8 years, it was time to replace the stopper but I had no idea that it would be a different size than standard. I decided to take a chance on this stopper and it works! As a matter of fact, it is the same stopper that was left when we purchased this house in 2012 (and we're approaching 2019 !!) I didn't think to see if the stoppers were the same but they are and it works! Hopefully this will give us another 6++ years

Our garbage disposal came with the standard thick plastic stopper. For whatever reason, the standard stopper did not stop well. InSinkErator sells this stopper at a reasonable price so we decided to buy one. It works. It works much better than the standard stopper. The stainless steel stopper gives a solid seal, effectively stopping any water from getting into the drain. The stainless steel top also looks a bit nicer than the standard unit.

Overall, this is a good buy for someone needing a new garage disposal drain stopper or someone who wants the aesthetics of a stainless stopper.

This drain cover is as durable as it looks. I was not sure that it would be of stainless steel quality, but it in fact is mad of a strong stainless steel (aka weighty) metal to which the rubber seal is attached. The drain cover seals the large disposal opening MUCH more reliably that the hard plastic drain caps that come as standard accessories. This was a great find for the sink drain seal problem. I constantly had to re-seat the drain cover to secure the seal until I was able to make this purchase. Great product in its own right! An immediate kitchen standard for disposal drains.

Best Stopper I Have Found!

I couldn't find a stopper that would seal up my sink without losing the water that I use to soak dirty dishes. I checked the local grocery store, hardware store and big box home improvement stores....all of them leaked. This one works! Seals it up like it should and no more coming home and finding all the water drained out of my dish soaker. I took one star away because the grab knob on the top is slightly smaller than necessary in order to comfortably pull the stopper out of the drain when its time to change the water. My spouse and kids made the same spontaneous remarks which is the only reason I mention it. It is well constructed of high quality materials and handsome, I expect it to last 10+ years. Works great but difficult to remove

The sink stopper I hade before this was one that slid over the top of the drain; it was constantly moving around and letting the water out. I'm really happy with this one - it fits within the drain. The only problem with it is that the suction in the drain is so strong, I can't pull it out with just my fingers. So I keep a pair of pliers next to the sink. A chain could have helped here.

This review is for the stainless steel stopper with the rubber gasket. I have had no problem with the water leaking down the drain when the stopper is in. As others have noted you have to push it down, but that's not a problem. I just push it down until it sits on the rim that is about an inch down into the drain opening. It also is more durable and looks better than the rubber stopper that it replaced.

The reason that I'm giving it four stars instead of five is that on the few occasions when it has fallen into the drain opening upside down, I have to pry it out of the drain with a fork. There is nothing to hold onto on the bottom of the stopper that would allow you to pull it out of the drain with your fingers. This is a minor annoyance, however. Overall I'm happy using this stopper.

The current apartment I'm in has a garbage disposal. I hate garbage disposals. They stink... when I have a house, I'll never have a garbage disposal... EVER! This is a cheap way to block the smell.

My only wish is that it had a small slit so liquids could get through. Once you put it in your sink, nothing is getting around it and no smells are coming up. My only complaint is that it's tough to pull it out. Once you put it in your drain, it's there. Sometimes I have to use pliers to pull. No big deal but it's something you should be aware of.

Good stainless steel stopper, although my husband prefers plastic

I ordered this stainless steel stopper to replace the black plastic stopper that came with the garbage disposer. I like this one much better, mainly because of its looks. It does a great job of sealing the water in the sink. However, my husband prefers the plastic stopper because he finds this stainless steel stopper too slippery to grab onto when the sink is full of soapy water. Personally, I'd give the stopper 5 stars, but I'll knock off one star for his concern (although I don't have a problem with it myself).
