Product Description
Smiles and tears are so alike with me, they are neither of them confined to any particular feelings: I often cry when I am happy, and smile when I am sad.Wildfell Hall, an Elizabethan mansion, has been unoccupied for years on end. A woman calling herself Helen Graham mysteriously arrives and begins to live in the mansion with her young son and a servant. Despite the norms of the times, Helen earns a living on her own by selling pieces of art she creates. She soon is the object of rumors and gossip among the neighboring village. The narrator, Gilbert Markham, refuses to believe any of the rumors and befriends Helen. She soon reveals her past to him.
