The F-104 Starfighter, aka "Zipper" and/or "Missile With A Man In It" was one of Lockheed Legend Kelly Johnson's "Skunk Works" most leading edge creations. At one time it held both speed and altitude records and was the first airplane capable of Mach 2 speed in level flight. It was used worldwide and, though it was infamous for a high accident rate, it was beloved by most pilots who flew it and later said it was their favorite airplane. 104 pages (naturally) of photos, history, and art celebrate the history of the Starfighter which still flies today with civilian contractors, almost 70 years after that first flight.
