An interactive introduction to working with animals
Zoology for Kids invites the next generation of zoologists to discover the animal kingdom through clear, entertaining information and anecdotes, lush color photos, hands-on activities, and peer-reviewed research. Young minds are introduced to zoology as a science by discussing animals’ forms, functions, and behaviors as well as the history behind zoos and aquariums. Related activities include baking edible animal cells, playing a dolphin-echolocation game, and practicing designing an exhibit. Young readers can peek into the world of zookeepers and aquarists, veterinarians, wildlife researchers, and conservationists as they “train” their friends, mold a tiger’s jawbone, and perform field research in their own backyard. This engaging resource provides readers with new knowledge, a healthy respect for the animal kingdom, and the idea that they can pursue animal-related careers and make a difference to preserve and protect the natural world.

If you have a child in your life who enjoys learning about the natural world and it's creatures...thby Pi,Top Contributor: Coloring (5 out of 5 stars)

THIS is an amazing book. I purchased it for our daughter would like to become a Zoologist when she grows up. At this time, she is a walking textbook particularly with birds and their characteristics and habitats. She LOVES this book. It is one that stays on the coffee table and she reads some part of it each day since Easter. Her younger brother also enjoys the book a great deal.
-The images are in color- a big hit for children!
-There are projects to do which are really easily done as the items used are, for the most part-household objects. We did the fossil one last weekend (I need to upload pics) and they loved it! I love that because it is something a parent can do with the child and active learning is the BEST WAY to learn.
-The Kratt Brothers have a large picture in the front which was an auto-hit for our daughter. She had a project to do in school last year and she chose them, 2-Zoologist she admires a great deal.
Thank you to the author for this wonderful book! If you have a child in your life who enjoys animals and the natural world- I bet they'll love this!

What a great book! Each section provides valuable information, and is displayed in an easy to read fashion for kids. Coming from an animal training background, this book is packed with such important animal-loving knowledge. Whether you are interested in training animals, or taking care of them medically or simply just volunteering to talk about them to others about how we can protect them, this book is a great start. Bethanie and Josh do a wonderful job of hitting the basics first, and then showing how zoology is important in all kinds of works of life. Each activity is well thought out, from motor skills development to learning new facts to crafting for fun. Everybody can find several activities they will enjoy! With an activity every few pages, photos scattered throughout each section, and an in depth drawing for all the vital biological facts, it's just too fun to pass up! You can tell the authors are very passionate about what they do. That is refreshing and gets you pumped up to explore all the creatures out there. Whether you're a zookeeper, a conservation biologist, a veterinarian, a wildlife researcher, or somebody who just loves animals, this book is a phenomenal way to learn how YOU can make a difference protecting and caring for animals. You may also just find out that caring for animals might be one of the best jobs in the world!

Really well written, my eight year old son really enjoyed the activities in the book. We loved making the cell cake, and the information was really engaging and well presented. We have been working through one activity a week since we got it as part of our homeschooling curriculum and it is really enjoyable.

This book is packed with tons of facts, beautiful pictures and activities. It's geared for ages 9 and up but even my youngest at 7 thoroughly enjoyed the book. The dictionary in the back of the book actually was one of the fun highlights because as my 7 and 9 year old read the information they had fun looking up the words to find the meanings. I see lots of adventures in our future because of the fun interactive activities within the book. I think one of my favorites of the book was the layout and the breakdown of all about animals and then all about the different people who work with animals on a daily basis. Whether your child is one that wants to work with animals in the future or they just love animals in general this is the best book to read!
