My husband's favorite Christmas movie in children's book form? Umm...I think, yes! I put this book on my wish list even before it came out and I'm so glad I did. I gave it to my husband for Christmas and it gave him the biggest smile. He's going to read it to our grandchildren when we have any. In the meantime, he read it to me and it was extremely entertaining. It's written in the same prose style as 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and the author does a great job with the rhyming. The illustrations are great as well and capture the spirit of the characters in a child-like way. I can see this book becoming a Christmas family tradition that is read every year.
Best book EVER.

I wasn't expecting the whole thing to rhyme! It reads to the tune of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and covers the entire movie perfectly with beautiful illustrations. I love it!!!
Binding issues

Art and story seem great, but I had product issues like several others here. Book came bound with an extra half of the story - it starts midway through (no title page, etc.), ends, then restarts with the title page about halfway through the book. There is a complete set of the story, so I considered just cutting the extra pages out, but there's quite a few and the book would look weird. Very disappointing since I ordered this early for a Christmas gift, and now it's out of stock, so the replacement is estimated delivery in mid January.
Please take a look at your quality control for the book assembly/binding! You should not have this many poorly constructed books going out.
NOT for kids or church!

This book is just as vulgar as the movie. Although it looks like a children's book, it is anything but. It's written in the style of the traditional "Night Before Christmas," but I felt some of the writing to get it to rhyme and be read in a rhythm was reaching just a little. This would make a great gift for an adult white elephant, with the right crowd. My husband and I watch this movie every Christmas. He loved it.
A Nice Twist on a Christmas classic!

My absolute favorite movie, which is quickly becoming my son's favorite as well. The illustrations are straight out of something from those old-time Little Golden Books and they are AMAZING. JJ Harrison is a fantastic artist, really capturing each actor and scene in his own special way. The way the writer, Doogie Horner, tweaked the script in just the right way as to make it into a classic Christmas tale one would read around the fireplace for the entire family. I will definitely look for more books like this.
AMAZING.

THIS. IS. AMAZING!!! Granted some key scenes are out of the book like I would have loved to have had the no lady I'm ordering a pizza scene in the book, but hey, they kept the iconic line in the book (that is totally not suitable for children!) which is the most amazing part of this book. It is told in the format of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, the artwork is spot on, and the story flows well. This is a must for adult Christmas parties, teenagers, and should become a family Christmas tradition. I know I'll be reading it every year!
Not a children's book - bloody and vulgar, a book in disguise meant for adults.

I'm pretty bummed. I wanted an R-rated movie adapted into a silly children's book, not an R-rated movie adapted into an R-rated book with illustrations and rhymes. It's surprisingly violent, which I could deal with - but, the last line of the book is "yippee-ki-yay, mother f***er!" (uncensored). I get it, the line is iconic, but come on... You're catering to children. I, as an adult, love Die Hard, but that doesn't mean I'm going to let my kids watch it. It's a fun idea, but make no mistake - this is NOT a children's book.
Great for fans of the series!

I gave this book to a colleague for an early Christmas gift. It was most definitely clever and gave us all a chuckle. It's most effective obviously with fans of the movie: Die-Hard. The last page gave me the biggest laugh! It's not for young kids, that's for sure! The artwork is good and the writing unique and clever. It really follows the cadence of "Twas the night before Christmas..." perfectly.
Truly a fun gift to give to a fan. Not a stellar purchase, but most certainly a fun one.
Not sure how come this took so long to be made.

For me, it ain't Christmas until two things happen. I watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and Die Hard. When I saw this, how could I not jump on it? I'm starting a new Christmas tradition. I'm reading how John Mcclane saved Christmas and bunch of hostages from Hans Gruber to kids on Christmas eve. Kind of warms my heart like the heat wave of a C4 explosion coming up an elevator shaft justing about it.
Yippee ki-yay! This is just fun.

This is going to be short and sweet. The premise: Take Die Hard one of the greatest action films ever made, one of the greatest Christmas movies ever made, and an all-around pop culture touchstone and turn it into a ( NOT for kids) rhyming picture book.
I'm not sure I really need to say more, do I?
Horner does an admirable job with taking the flick and turning it into a series of rhymes -- it doesn't feel like a gimmick. A lot of what he doesn't grab, Harrison takes care of in the illustrations. It's not perfect, things are left out, but with only 32 pages -- you pretty much have to. Only 1 four-letter word, too (technically, 12 letters, but you get the point).
The art is great -- although you could make the case that Harrison gave McClane too much hair. The art is dynamic, you can feel the action, the characters all look just right. Some samples of the illustrations are here on Harrison's site.
One complaint? No Argyle. Which I guess makes sense given the limited space, but man . . .
This is a hoot -- yeah, a novelty book, but well executed and well worth a read. Something to bring out every December (if you're the type to do that).
