THIS is the book that SHOULD HAVE come with my LEGO Architecture Studio set! This is the BEST Lego book I have come across. It not only gives a brief, yet concise history of different architectural styles in each chapter; plenty of beautiful pictures of famous buildings and LEGO model creations; great tips and ideas; BUT, it also gives you this: at the end of each chapter the author gives you a detailed model to build (with your LEGO Architecture Studio set) that represents that chapter's architectural style! I want more books like this one - perhaps an entire series?!?
Definitely a must-have for anyone who loves small scale modeling with LEGO; especially if you too have the LEGO Architecture Studio!
A deeper survey into architectural styles than expected!

I'm a life long LEGO fan and bought the book because it was a cool concept. I was expecting some photos of famous buildings constructed with a blurb here and there. What I got is an exquisite Coffee Table book with a delightfully deeper survey of architectural styles than anticipated and step by step guides on how to build realistic multi-scale scale versions of each There is real re-reading value here, which is a nice surprise.
To those reviewers complaining about the models requiring the architecture LEGO set and the book being useless without it, I would like to re-read the prologue where the author explicitly states the all white models were used for clarity, but any colors will work and he encourages creativity continually throughout the book. Besides, not having the exact right piece is a cornerstone of the LEGO experience! If you don't have a slope piece, use your imagination and engineer something similar with what you do have... that's the Magic of LEGO and this book encapsulates it well.
A must have to go with Lego Architectural Studio - great for kids.

A nice book for kids and adults learning to work with architectural Lego. Tom Alphin supports Lego products intelligently with his blog and website too. Fun to build his designs. I wish there were more of them, or a way to adapt them. Teaches modern architectural styles knowledgeably.

The LEGO Architect is a richly illustrated volume of architectural wonders featuring real buildings and their LEGO recreations. The book offers a nice blend of history, education, building instructions and jaw-dropping LEGO creations. The text is informative but brief and the photography and instructional renderings are excellent.
I am a huge fan of the "You view it and you do it" genre of LEGO books and Tom Alphin's The LEGO Architect book is a winner. Alphin introduces you to a particular style and description of architecture, then offers instructions so you can build an example yourself.
Unlike other building books that require a room-full of specialized bricks in a myriad of colors, Alphin sticks to small-scale models using only white bricks. These monochrome creations still look great while forcing you to focus on their defining attributes.
The LEGO Architect begins with an overview of neoclassical architecture and invites you to build a tiny domed building. Next you move on to prairie and art deco styles, modern and brutalist works, then wrap up with post-modern and high tech architecture. There's a small model you can build that illustrates each style, yet it is pretty interesting to just look at the building instructions.
Alphin wraps up the book by profiling a few LEGO building experts while remaining true to the architectural theme. You will learn about scale, form, detail, color and the various types of bricks you can use to create your own architectural masterpieces.

Te book is highly recommended. Well written and excellent as an introduction to architecture for kids and grownups. However, building the projects require a large quantity bricks which aren't common in required numbers in agregate standard lego sets . This, in my opinion, isn't that bad since it forces to improvise with what you have and build structures that are different than shown. The writer also recommends this. At a certain point my 8 YOaughter and me were picking a certain number of handfuls of pieces and competing against each other as to who would build the most interesting structure in a certain style (I usually lost).

My son has been obsessed with Lego's since he could crawl. He is now 14, and while he still LOVES everything Lego, we needed something more challenging. This book was awesome, in that it got his little brain working again. The finished products are beautiful. Would highly recommend for all ages.

FANTASTIC FANTASTIC FANTASTIC book for Lego lovers. Bought this for my 11 year old son's birthday, and it is a gem! It gives instructions on how to assemble many of the buildings it features. It was like getting multiple kits in a book. Now we can use some of the bins of Legos we have sitting around and assemble new buildings!! Great book! I recommend!

Bought this for my 13 year old grandson who is a Lego fanatic! He loves the new Architecture series but he puts them together in a matter of minutes. I'm not sure the book was helpful because he really didn't need any help, but I hope he will find it interesting!
One of the best Lego products I've ever purchased!

This has been a great inspiration for my son to dig back into his misc. legos to compile whole buildings. It's been a great adventure for him to have the freedom to make his designs whatever color he chooses.
No instructions on how to build any famous building.

I bought the book because of the cover image. I thought the instructions on how to build the Unite d' Habitation will be inside. I don't care much for the rest of the buildings, plus none of them are the real models of famous buildings, just loosely based on them.
