I love the fact that this coloring book let me create a world. Most coloring books are random geometric shapes or flowers. You can color it, but it doesn't let you be creative. These pages come alive and tell stories!
Buy this one! Best variety of designs to color!

I love this coloring book! I am so sick of coloring silly pictures with my five year old so looked into something more grin up. The pages are thick and single sided so perfect for markers. It's not just patterns and flowers or animals. All kinds of stuff to color! Love it! Buy this one!

This is my first coloring book since childhood. I used to do paint by numbers on and off for years, but they got too expensive for me. This coloring book (from the hours I spent searching on Amazon) is very unique and original. The designs are very artistic, detailed, and intricate. You can tell the artist spent a lot of time on them. You just want to stare at the page for days to see all the little details.
I just finished coloring my first page (uploading image, and will upload each I finish). I removed the binding of the book with an iron, scan each page one at a time and print them so in case I screw up or want to color a design differently later on, I can. Plus I find coloring on inkjet paper with sharpies to be smoother and more satisfying.
I SERIOUSLY hope the author/illustrator makes more of these books. I will buy them for sure.
edit: Also, if you search Youtube for Doodle Invasion you can see a preview of every image in the book.
Lots of fun!!!

Lots of fun! No worries if it looks nice b/c the doodles are so weird. One sided pictures, so markers would not be a problem. Only negative is that the paper is thin and needs more tooth. But, works fine if you put Kleenex or paper under coloring hand. Blender pencils seem to work better than blender markers as there are eyes, smiles and teeth that the blender markers smush the color into; whereas, the blender pencils keep the areas clean for coloring.
I would recommend as giftable b/c it's so much relaxing fun. The little doodles make you smile and relax. No pressure for the perfect picture, color combo, or shading.
So much fun!

I love this coloring book! Most coloring books with doodles tend to be like flowers or just geometric shapes. This coloring book is great because it's neither. In fact, it's nothing like any other coloring book I've seen.
It's totally gender neutral, which I feel is very important because so many coloring books are flowery and geared towards girls, but coloring is a great meditative coping skill for anxiety and stress, and I feel males could benefit from it as well, if they had better options in coloring books, or even just for girls that aren't into flowers and hearts (or are bored of them because so many coloring books have them!).
The images are fairly intricate, but definitely not too intricate. They usually have one main part that they center around that is easy to color and that main focus is then surrounded by little creatures, animals, and ocean waves. They form things like jellyfish tentacles, angel wings, trees, a grenade that turns into a castle, so many different things! I really don't think you can go wrong getting this for yourself or anyone else you think might be interested in coloring.
None of the images are close to inappropriate at all, but some of the faces on some of the creatures are a little "weird" and may be unpleasant for young kids. It's probably a book best suited for teens and older. It's easy enough that most people with good coordination can color it, but it's not so simple that you'll get bored.
The images are all one sided, which is great, and the paper is higher quality than a lot of the other coloring books I have. If you're going to use Sharpies, though, I would suggest putting paper between the page you're coloring and the next one to prevent bleeding onto the next page.
I think this would be a great gift for anyone that enjoys coloring for relaxation and stress relief. It's so unique and fun, and it's fun to come up with patterns for how you want to use colors or what type of medium you want to color with. I'm really interested in checking out the other Zifflin coloring books!
because theyre FUN! My favorite

I have this, and have 3 pages in progress. While I do get where one reviewer is coming from in the repetition of the filler, I didn't actually mind that much - in essence, I agree with them that it's not as big a deal as it is with patterns. What really gets me with this book, though, is the hilarious sense of humor. I look at some of these images and just can't help but grin, because theyre FUN! My favorite, which I haven't started yet, is likely to be the jar one, simply because of the little guy at the top. His grin makes me laugh every time i see it. You'd probably want one of the other coloring books with more individual images, in one sense - I'm eyeing the pond life book right now, and have hte curious creatures one being delivered to me this week. But this one will probably be one of your most unique, no matter how many you get. Good luck, & good coloring!
Oh. On page quality etc - excellent. Pages are relatively thick/sturdy, with enough teeth that colors hold wonderfully. Even pressing down for jewel tones with my prismacolor pencils doesn't damage or dent the paper, & the paper itself is a brilliant white. (Don't do this in direct sunlight if you can avoid it, however. Your eyes may water.)

Out of the 45 coloring books I have, this is hands down my favorite! I love how creative and funky the designs are. And the paper quality is great! Plus it's single sided so I can use markers! This is my go to book. I highly recommend this to anyone that likes to color! I've added 2 of my finished pages to show you how awesome the designs are! They are both done with Prismacolor Premier colored pencils.
Very Imaginative and Intricate Designs for Coloring Fun

"Doodle Fusion" is a really interesting coloring book. It is based on the line artwork of artist Kerby Rosanes. The Zifflin's color books seem to be exploring the far edge of coloring opportunities. I recently got the US version of Mr. Rosanes "Animorphia" which had a lot of publishing issues with the book. I can assure you that that is not a problem with this book. This set of designs is well published without missing parts of images, etc.
The 50 pages of designs in this book are made up of a multitude of small hand drawn images of all sorts of things (though mostly little goblin like characters.) In some cases, the little characters are used to "create" a design of something else and in other cases, the little guys are crawling around, in and out of some other item. For someone who really likes to color small and elaborate designs and wants something really different, this line of books, and this one in particular may be perfect.
Each design is printed on one side of the page. The pages are not perforated but there is plenty of room to remove a page with a pen knife if you choose to do so. All of my markers and gel pens bleed through the page readily. I would place a piece of chipboard or heavyweight paper or two under the page I am working on to keep ink from seeping through.
Great Artwork Printed with Terrible Quality

The good: wonderful, imaginative illustrations. Looked really fun to color from the cover photo, and the illustrations within do not disappoint. As an adult, it looks really engaging compared to coloring books for younger folks.
The bad: The quality of the printing is awful. You can see the designs themselves through the paper - which led them to print the coloring pages one sided. In some places it looks like the original artist drew with pencil, traced in pen, and then used the scanned image where it came out. This may be because of how it was printed, but the outcome is the same - pixelated jagged lines printed in not-quite-black.
Summary: wonderful art, terrible quality product - it looks like it was printed out of someone's garage.
Image 1: You can see where it looks like they didn't clean up the image by the jagged line work and shadows that look like pencil sketches.
Image 2: Example of printing quality - very pixelated jagged lines
Image 3: I took this photo in a dim room without shining light on the paper - you can still see through to the next page.
Zany, delightful images to color ...

Philippines-based artist Kerby Rosanes has an instantly identifiable style when it comes to his drawings. Known in the art world for his black fine-line doodles that are almost mesmerizing in their complexity, it hardly seems surprising that he would venture into the newly-popular world of adult coloring books.
Doodle Invasion is 106 pages of zany delightful art, full of little figures I call "ghosties." They're packed into trees, swarming over a platoon of dinosaurs, billowing out of the tail of an airplane, cavorting among Willy-Wonka-esque flowers -- hundreds of the little beasties. At first they look mostly alike: little minion-like round-headed blobs. But look closer, and you'll see a cat, a couple of pigs, a unicorn, a king, a fish -- random mutations that break up what could a be somewhat monotonous coloring exercise.
The images are very detailed, so this might be less frustrating for older children and adults than for younger children. The pictures are printed on one side only, so you're good to go for using markers, gels or colored pencils. The paper is of medium quality -- not the best I've seen in a coloring book, but certainly not the worst. It takes colored pencil nicely (my medium of choice for images like these); markers will bleed through, some more than others, so if you're leaving pages in the book while you color, be sure to put a couple of pieces of paper under the image to prevent ruining the next image in the book (I just use my standard printer paper -- works just fine).
If you're into detailed imaginative whimsical images with a few surprises, this just may be a good choice. I'm thrilled with it.
