This book is for serious Lego lovers and builders. I got this book for my 7 year old who enjoys building and making his own things, but every single idea page requires very specialized pieces. Absolutely not one project I could see by flipping through it had regular everyday pieces or seemed easy to build for a child. It's a beautiful book and I did read the reviews that mentioned this idea but there were so many excellent reviews, I decided to try it.
Instructions for Huge Assortment of Projects, Games--Plus Tons of Builders' Tips

365 THINGS TO DO WITH LEGO BRICKS is my absolute favorite DK LEGO-building book to date, because it includes generalized instructions for a huge variety of projects, puzzles, and games, as well as tons of master builders' tips. One of the authors is Alice Finch, who is famous for her enormous LEGO model of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The book also has contributions from master builders Barney Main, Rod Gillies, Joshua Berry, Kevin Hall, Jason Briscoe, Drew Maughan, and Naomi Farr and Stuart Crawshaw. (Unfortunately the book doesn't identify the specific projects with the designers' names.)
The book doesn't include any LEGO bricks, but it does come with a battery-powered project-selector and game timer. You push the ? button to randomly select one of the 365 projects; you push the Clock button to set the countdown time for games and timed builds. The timer is glued into the book's cover, and you'll probably want to leave it there so it doesn't get lost. You can access the battery compartment through an opening in the book cover. The timer arrives with a 2032 coin battery installed and ready to activate by pulling a tab.
Many of the projects require specialized bricks (e.g., the bedside lamp calls for a LEGO "light brick" containing a LED light; the pantograph drawing machine needs Technic gears and beams), but these are available from the online LEGO Store or from independent LEGO brick sellers' websites.
My personal favorite projects include the Magic Show (with the stage box that makes the magician's assistant disappear); the Box of Dominoes; the Build Your Own Home project; and the Bedside Lamp--but it's really hard to pick favorites from this assortment. The book has something to represent just about every kind of thing that you can build from LEGO bricks, and, as LEGO enthusiasts know, there aren't many things that can't be built or simulated with LEGO bricks.
The Table of Contents is especially nicely done. Instead of appearing in a list, the projects are organized into categories (e.g., "For the Sports Lover", "Build in Micro-Scale", "Get Arty", "Give a Gift") that help you quickly find the projects that you're most interested in.
It's "o...k..."

I'm a little mixed on this book...
I love the concept, but my kids are having a hard time with it... Many of the pictures / ideas essentially ask for a whole pile of "special" pieces... We have a ton of legos, but my kids get frustrated when they see pictures and think "but I can't make that..." I tell them to use their imagination, and it works for "some" of them... but still...
Also, an "on/off" switch for the timer would be nice... I really don't consider "take the batteries out when not in use" to be an acceptable method...
I dunno... I just feel this is almost like more of a "grown-up" book for lego enthusiasts...

This book has amazing ideas but no instructions for any of them. For right now, it is a picture book. Even my husband was disappointed.

I bought this as a holiday gift 2016 and it has lived up to the 365 things to do. :) My 15 yr old is usually pretty creative with his Legos, but this book has so many cool ideas that impressed me too. He uses it all the time and invents on the ideas presented in it which is really cool also.
I was hoping to find something new, and this book goes above and beyond my expectations. Fantastic gift for the Lego fanatic.

This books quality is beyond what i expected to get once I ordered this book. This a awesome book and the price is perfect for what you get. I gave this as a birthday gift and the birthday child couldn't be happier getting this book. So if your child, grandchild, or if thinking to get this as a gift for someone go for it because this book is awesome. The shipping was extremely fast and absolutely no delays on getting the book. I loved the speedy delivery being I was buying this as a gift. So would recommend this book it is worth every dime you spend.

My book was used and a little dinged up. But this is supposed to be about the product and not what the sellers send. So that's where I'm at.
The book has lots of pictures and lots of things to read. No real instructions on how to do things. But it's good to still get a look at things and get inspired. But no real help on how to do something. But I still like the book

My Lego fanatic son loves this book. He's already had multiple books, games, etc but still found lots of useful stuff in this. You know when your kids already have so many sets there's been a Lego explosion in your house? And the sets don't stay assembled? This is a great way to get ideas to make more cool stuff...

Things to build yes. IDEAS is all this book has. It isn't great for a 7 year old that was hoping for "constructions".

This book has so many neat ideas! There are many different things you can make with your Legos. Just be aware that you have to have a variety of Legos in order to complete some of the ideas. Great book overall.
