Product Description
What if Darth Vader took an active role in raising his son? What if "Luke, I am your father" was just a stern admonishment from an annoyed dad? In this hilarious and sweet Star Wars® comics reimagining, Darth Vader is a dad like any other—except with all the baggage of being the Dark Lord of the Sith. Celebrated artist Jeffrey Brown's delightful illustrations give classic Star Wars® moments a fresh parenting books twist, presenting the trials and joys of parenting through the lens of a galaxy far, far away. Life lessons include lightsaber batting practice, using the Force to raid the cookie jar, Take Your Child to Work Day on the Death Star ("Er, he looks just like you, Lord Vader!"), and the special bond shared between any father and son. It's a great option for baby shower gifts, especially for the expectant father. Darth Vader and Son is a Star Wars® book that makes a great gift or a just because purchase for yourself!Features

Funny with a tendency toward too preciousby Phred,Top Contributor: Manga (4 out of 5 stars)

According to the canon, Darth Vader is a father. In this book of Jeffrey Brown's Star Wars child rearing cartoon books: Darth Vader and Son, The Malicious Master of the dark side is also subject to all of the situations any parent of a 4 year old experience, plus a few more. Who knew that a masked and capped character can express emotions giving us a way to enjoy the simple pleasures of fatherhood? (Are we there yet?) .
In 54 pages Brown illustrates all the common expressions of child rearing and places them in the nerd universe of Star Wars. Here, Luke really is a little short to be a Storm Trooper. The results are not always funny but they do allow us to remember and relive these moments with a smile.
Family friendly and aspiring nerd appropriate.
The Only Bedtime Story for My Son & his Dad

My husband and I make bedtime stories a routine, and when it is Dad's turn - the is THE ONLY BOOK IN EXISTENCE. I love hearing them together. Even if you are not a bedtime story family, or even Star Wars fan's, this is a great book. No words, but that isn't an issue! With the fin and elaborate illuminations, ou can change the "story-telling" every time. Highly recommend.
Adorable Ode to the Clone Wars Generation

I grew up during the Star Wars era - where Anakin Skywalker was a mangled, cyberfilled ball of hate with only the vocal talents of James Earl Jones saving him from eternal peril (that Jones' voice can save the soul of a man who blew up a flipping planet is quite a testament). My little princess grew up during the airing of Star Wars The Clone Wars where Anakin Skywalker was a barely scarred, good-natured, slightly impatient hero teaching a padawan while still needing guidance himself. For children who's first glimpse of Anakin wasn't one of a genocidal vassal of Darth Sidius and parents who don't want to bring that up until later, this is a beautifully entertaining book. Purists risk hating it and imagining using The Force to give wedgies to its author.
It's cute, touching, endearing, and filled with moments where parents will relate to the poor Sith lord and children will see the Jedi in themselves. I've read this to my daughter; she's read it to her friends; and her friends have read it to her. It's pure, sentimental gold.
Its only flaw is that it makes me crave the arrival of "Vader's Little Princess" that much more.
Not for little kids

My wife doesn't get most of the obscure references and she's seen the movies a couple times. My son has no idea what's going on and likes to ask questions that have age-inappropriate answers. It's like physical click-bait for a Star Wars fan. Good luck explaining to your kids what's going on in some of these scenes.
Great Book to Introduce Children to Star Wars

My wife and I are huge Star Wars fans and we were looking for a way to introduce our 4 year old son into the Star Wars universe. After some research we found these books and I have to say they were a perfect introduction for him. They are nicely paced, easy to understand and they introduce a lot of the characters. The only down side is that you know from the title of the book that Darth Vader is Luke's father so unfortunately there was no surprise when he watched Empire Strike's Back. However he really enjoys the books and really loves the illustrations.
My husband loves reading this book...my toddler too

Great book. My husband thinks these illustrations are funny (even has shared some with his friends' group text) so makes it fun for him to read it to our toddler son. My son is sorta interested in it, mostly because dad is chuckling the whole time. He'll probably grow into it a little more too. Good for nerd bonding.
Great book, but poor value

The book is a great book. As Star Wars fans, both my 6 year old son and I found it to be funny. The problem is that he is just learning to read and he was finished with the book in 15 minutes. That is a lot of money for 15 minutes of reading. Maybe I will see if the library has the rest in this series, which would still only make for an hour of reading, tops. It's too bad they didn't have less expensive paperback versions.
Great for Star Wars parents

This is a really adorable book. My husband is a pretty huge Star Wars fan so I bought this for Father's Day and he loved it. My mom isn't a huge fan, but she loved the book as well.
Bonus tip: there's a princess version as well
A Star Wars Dad hilarity

This book is great! Any Star Wars fan will love it. I bought it for my brother (who is a dad) and my own Dad, both of whom are Star Wars fans. Minor fans will get a kick out of it too, but real fans will really appreciate it. Some pages are just pictures and word bubbles that depict Vader and Luke as a normal father with a young son (Luke drops his ice cream, he doesn't like the food Dad made, he doesn't like Leia, etc.) and some pages have lines from the movies (Luke, I am your father, you must listen to me, You don't want that toy- Jedi mind trick that doesn't work on Luke). All of the pages will make you laugh, and all feature familiar settings from the movie. This is a great purchase and I will be buying the sequel that features Vader and Leia that comes out next year, Vader's Little Princess.
Great for the Star Wars fan in your life

I bought this as a gift, then ended up buying two more for other people to give as well. The book is cute and mostly funny (yes, there are a few misses) and I love the concept. The more avid the fan the more they'll probably enjoy it as a lot of the scenes or quotes are lifted from the movies and then changed to include Luke as a child.
This isn't a book necessarily to read to your children though. My best friend's 4 year old loves Star Wars and grabbed the book wanting it to be read to her. She liked the pictures but didn't get most of the jokes I'm sure.
For the price it was a great little gift that didn't break the bank. I've already pre-ordered the sequel.
