Through the Eyes of Insignificance is the story of my immediate family. However, it is not the whole story. It is simply my perspective on a period of about eight years. My perspective is shaped by life events, some of which came long before this portion of our story began. In my life I have been a youth pastor, a music teacher at a public school, an administrative assistant at a charter school, and a private counselor. I have worked as a driver of flat beds for a hardware company and a barista for a coffee house. Currently I am an elementary school counselor. Course work in pastoral ministry and music theory and composition and a masters degree in counseling round out my education. These varied educational opportunities, as well as my life events, shape my perspective on our story. Read the story of my family’s suffering and triumph. Enter into our trials and victories. Taste the despair, and follow it up with a drink of hope. Listen to the dismissive voices, but hear the heart of God. Feel the pain of my wife and son, and then feel the warm arms of our loving creator. Smell the stale scent of apathy and unbelief, and inhale the sweet scent of victory found in Jesus. Look at the world through our eyes, the eyes of insignificant people looking for help, crying in pain, and being shown how truly insignificant we are in a world full of apathy. And then, turn your gaze to the loving eyes of the almighty creator, and find in them true significance.
