Product Description

For Iowa fraternity brothers 'Mother' (Tim Robbins, Jacob’s Ladder) and Joe (Cameron Dye, Body Rock), the only way to score a paid vacation in sunny Palm Springs is to take along supreme nerd Wendell (Stephen Geoffreys, 976-Evil). When they make a bet with a rival frat to be the first to bed a beautiful woman (Sheree J. Wilson, Crimewave), their getaway goes out of control. Now with the help of some bikini beauties, a bit of creative party crashing and a local girl (Amanda Bearse, Fright Night) with a very dangerous secret, the ultimate Spring Break is about to begin! John Vernon (Animal House), Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator), Kathleen Kinmont (Halloween 4), Matt McCoy (Police Academy 6: City Under Siege), Leigh McCloskey (Inferno), Max Wright (Alf), Nina Talbot (Chained Heat), Frank Ajaye (Convoy), Charles Rocket (Earth Girls are Easy) and Britt Ekland (The Wicker Man) co-star in this outrageous yet good-natured comedy that could only have been made in the 80s, filled with scary fashion, gratuitous nudity, sudden aerobics and music by Bananarama, Con Funk Shun and others.

If you enjoyed "Porky's," "Losin' It" and "Porky's Revenge," then you'll dig this one as well. While not quite as deliciously raunchy as the aforementioned three, it still packs enough sin, skin and humor to spice up an evening of home theater fun.

Three fraternity buds hit Palm Springs looking to get laid. Two boys from a competing fraternity heckle them into a sex challenge which the guys spend most of the movie trying to win. Along the way, they have a few memorable escapades, the best of which is the almost-foursome scene. Our red-blooded horndogs are only too happy to share bed and bimbos in the name of good unclean fun! Sadly, the movie doesn't push things as far as you might like, so there is ultimately more tease than sleaze.

The picture on the blu ray is astonishing. Even projected on a 100" screen, the image is so clear it looks like you could walk right into the scene. Color is gorgeous and the guys (who spend much of the film nearly nude) offer some welcome eye candy. Blu ray menu is a cinch to navigate and the price was very reasonable.

Love it, hope you will too!

Highly recommend! Perfect for your “Blockbuster” date night and…no rewinding necessary!
    My rating: 📼📼📼📼

I’m also now looking forward to the upcoming, official Blu-ray release of another forgotten 80’s VHS classic in May 2022: TIMES SQUARE!!!

I remember when this film came out in the 80s. Hell, I snuck into the theater and watched it (wasn't quite old enough), and then the local video store had no problems renting me the VHS copy until I had to buy it because I wore it out (and never rewound it). I admired those guys in the film. Having fun, looking out for each other, scoring (or trying to) with women. And not one of them was dealing with an ex-wife.

Here I am over 30 years later, having to get through each and every day with my ex wife. The Blu-Ray was a welcome relief, because I could only stomach the DVD for so long. As the world is already beginning to move from 4K to 8K, we were stuck with an old 480P DVD that was already really old. Figures that after all this time, just before 1080p goes the way of VHS, that this marvelous film is released on Blu-Ray. And it's still as much fun as ever. In fact, when I have to read a stupid text message from my ex-wife, or see some of the passive aggressive messages she's thrown my kids way (or her dick of a new husband), once I deal with that, putting this film on brings peace to my life.

I pretend I'm Joe, because he's the one that's going for the hot girl in the film. Other times I pretend I'm Mother, the quirky friend watching over Joe and Wendell, thinking about what a great time they're having, and all the opportunities sitting right in front of them. None of them goes for the first woman they meet, settling down, and then a decade later going "Why the F did you do that? You're miserable now!!!!" But as an escape to past transgressions, I get lost in this film and ride it like a rollercoaster that's chugged 3 shot glasses of Rum just before blasting off.

Yes, this film wipes the past momentarily from my life. The biggest disappointment is that Brad Fiedel's amazing soundtrack isn't on an isolated track (or at the very least, include a CD of the soundtrack which was never released!). So I can't just turn off the lights and get lost in my own pity-party to Brad Fiedel's "Foolin' No One" song (it's the song that played when Wendell is broke down by the side of the road - a foreshadowing of what happens when you get married and then divorced). For that, this release only gets 4 stars.

The film's still a winner after all this time, and it's never looked better.

Great movie and came in great shape

I recently purchased the VHS version of Fraternity Vacation distributed by R & G Video and Starmaker. I had owned an individual DVD copy of this film as well as a copy included in a budget twofer. Both DVD versions were widescreen, meaning the top and bottom of the screen had been cropped.

The good news on the VHS version is that it is not cropped or not cropped as much as the widescreen DVD versions. This means you can see a bit more of Kathleen Kinmont and Barbara Crampton for a split second in their infamous scene with Tim Robbins. The bad news is the VHS videotape was recorded in EP, rather than SP. The overall picture quality is fair at best, ranging from poor to good. There are some dropouts and excessive video noise on at least a few segments, and the picture is often fuzzy.

The film itself is a well-known 80's teen comedy, so I won't review it. The negatives outweigh the positives on the VHS version, so I recommend you stick to the DVD. If you can find a standard screen DVD or a VHS recorded at SP at a reasonable price, you might consider it. Otherwise, you are missing very little in the widescreen DVD.
