- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2021I bought this for my husband and he loved this book. He has recommended for his students to read as a resource to caring for psychiatric needs in the general population.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2020I am very curious about mental health, and this book has been very helpful for my understanding. It provides in-depth explanations of mental illnesses including the medications/treatments often used. It's very cool to grasp some bit of understanding about psychiatry without being a psychiatrist. Like I said, it is very accessible and enjoyable to read.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2020Great portable handbook to understand Psychiatry in many roles within medical community.
Valuable for many health care professions that should have a basic understanding of Psychiatry concepts and diagnoses to perform job duties better.
Well written with great depth of knowledge delivered in easily digested portions. Great info that reads more like a novel that a textbook.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2019This is an excellent book for non-specialists and GPs. The author has discussed very clearly the subject relevant to non-specialists. He has done excellent job!! I don't believe anyone has written a book like this because the other books are focussed on psychiatrists.

5.0 out of 5 stars A high standard medical book but reads like a riveting novel
Excellent book. Very easy to read. Written in a way non-psychiatrists can easily understand complex mental health problems. The portion on social anxiety disorder was an eye opener for me. Next time, I feel awkward in a social situation, I tell myself it’s not that uncommon and I don’t have Williams syndrome! The chapter on eating disorder was very effective and useful. Interestingly, the whole book reads like a Frederick Forsyth novel. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy book for GPs and Surgeons too!
Indeed a very useful book for non psychiatrists. Would be very handy for The doctors in General Practice and Medical students. I am a plastic surgeon who needs to understand the psychology of the patients and it is indeed useful to my practice.

4.0 out of 5 stars psychiatry for non medical people
Written in a style non psychiatrists can understand.
Chapters are eye opening on aspects including social disorders.
All aspects a psychiatrist can deal with is enlightening as you do realises problem people have.
I will have more compassion when you first meet someone as you do not know what they may be dealing with
