Editorial Reviews
2019 release. After selling out shows around the world, Japanese rock sensation Band-Maid continue their quest for world domination with third full length studio album Conqueror. Three music videos from the album were released in advance and have achieved over three-million views on YouTube so far, including "glory" (the ending theme for Yu-Gi-Oh! Vrains) and "Bubble" (theme to Japanese drama Perfect Crime). Booklet contains English lyric translations for the first time. Tony Visconti, who has worked with the likes of David Bowie, T Rex and Thin Lizzy, produced album track "The Dragon Cries".

- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2019Don't let the maid outfits fool you. These young Japanese ladies are the real deal. From melodic pop rocking ballads (not too many, actually) to punch you in the gut heavy rockers, Band-Maid delivers the goods. Especially so on this album.
Since forming in 2013, Band-Maid have released various singles, a few mini albums, as well as three full albums ('Conqueror" being the third). Each and every release is pure music gold. And this new album is just more of what they have consistently brought to the table in the past, just more refined and polished (not that they needed much in the first place).
Since downloading this, I have listened to it over and over again and again. Every guitar note, bass line, drum hit and vocal utterance is the sweetest music unto my ears. And in my honest opinion, this is the only rock band currently out there, saving rock -n- roll for legions of fans around the World who are simply tired of all the prefab music being manufactured today (and for decades past). This is one rock album you need in your collection, without a doubt.
*Physical CDs of this album will release on 12/11/2019

- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2024Conqueror brings together everything Band-Maid is to this point in their career. To me, it feels like a 'best of' but with all new songs. The compositions, instrumentation and vocals are very refined at this point and so good. Band-Maid continues to progress after this one...
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2024For years, I've been missing the great and innovative hard rock of my youth and young adulthood. Every time I tried a new rock band, I was disappointed. Until Band-Maid. This is an incredible album with plenty of variety and plain enjoyable music.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2022This is probably the album where Band Maid somewhat lost the route of their music and what would they could keep doing for the following years. The formula used in previous songs is aging badly in the songs seen here, and we can also feel some intervention from producers to make more soft and commercial songs. About half of the album is actually good, but the other half is almost forgettable, and probably made the band think better and do a better effort that later we see in the following album "Reincarnation", because this one could not keep the quality seen in their previous release "World domination". Anyway, it is still a Band Maid album that deserves a chance.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2021If you haven't seen their YouTube videos, check them out immediately. These ladies are the real deal and perform live as well as the studio versions. Sometimes the live versions even kick it up a couple notches. They are all sublimely talented and energetic and I love their tunes. After listening a while, I forgot that the singing was Japanese with a sprinkling of English and enjoyed their singing as musical instruments. Originally, I was confused by the "maid" thing. There are YouTube interviews that explain that Miku Kobato, the leader of the group, worked in a "maid cafe" (look it up in a search engine). They adopted the maid look and motif and it works. I love the Band Maid, Band Aid pun and "Maid In Japan" and other humor. They are indeed a fun bunch. They are fun to listen to and watch and I am 68 years old.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2020Okay, so if you have any familiarity with the band at all, you know just how incredible they are. So with that out of the way, here's the deal with Conqueror. If you like it all hard and all fast all the time, your initial listen may leave you thinking that some of the songs are too soft or poppy or whatever. And you'll be wrong. Like a lot of the best music, these songs will grow on you and may even become some of your favorites. The first song "Page" is the perfect example - it's a rock ballad, and it's just freaking beautiful. Of course they'll rock your ass off with some of them too - Rinne for example may be their hardest song. Just buy it, these girls work their butts off and deserve our support. They just don't make music like this in the US anymore. It's all of what used to make hard rock great, but updated and with their own special Maid twists!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2024This cd is truly authentic and not a copy. Very skeptical about ordering products from overseas but rest assured this is legit. Great quality and prompt shipping

5.0 out of 5 stars Genre defying music, brilliant!
This album is one I've owned since the month of its release in the UK and then, as of now it gets a full fat 5 stars and I purchased it again for a friend's birthday present because of the diverse range of musical styles in this particular album that I believe sums up exactly how band maid are apart from and more enjoyable than most of their contemporaries in the world of Japanese rock music, not for them sticking to one genre such as " heavy metal" or " power rock" their take on music is to avoid being type cast and despite describing themselves as "hard rock" they are so much more and that's why I have taken to them over almost everything I've heard coming out of japan, don't get me wrong I enjoy Lovebites, Aldious, Mellows etc all great within their musical genres but band maid are so different and diverse in comparison that I no longer compare them to the aforementioned bands as they aren't operating in the same place, and yes, I've got Aldious and Lovebites cds so it's not a case of disliking them just that they don't quite " float my boat " to the level that band maid does. If you prefer a wide variety of music within a bands portfolio then band maid is for you and this album is a good example of that, by the way my friend enjoys it too, enough said.
