I was introduced to Mose Allison by a Russian music podcast (shout out to Aerostat!), which featured two songs from this album - "Ever Since the World Ended" by Loudon Wainwright III and "If You're Going to the City" by Iggy Pop. I really loved Loudon Wainwright's version (in fact, I think it's more powerful than the original) and decided that it's worth buying the CD.

It was a good decision, as there are several other songs that I really enjoyed, such as "If You Live", "Nightclub", "Everybody's Crying Mercy", "Wild Man on the Loose" and "Numbers on Paper". By the way, it's interesting to note that Mose Allison's songs sound just as nice with the guitar as the leading instrument instead of the piano.

The documentary was a nice bonus. It was great to learn about Mose Allison from the man himself and the great musicians that appreciated his work. A great tribute to a great musician.

It is great, and long overdue, that Mose Allison and his music should get the "tribute" treatment (though, actually, back in 1996, Van Morrison led an all-star cast that included not only Ben Sidran and Georgie Fame, but Mose himself - when he was very much still alive to enjoy the experience, and the high praise!).
Now, isn't it about time that the Song Writer's Hall of Fame get their act together and pay the man the LONG OVERDUE respect - that he has long been entitled to - and induct Mose Allison into that institution???
Seriously, one can quickly run out of fingers counting the many HOF inductees who have covered Mose's songs over the decades! What do these musicians/artists know that the HOF hasn't been able to figure out as yet???

I have been a Mose Allison fan since the early 70's beginning with the "hello universe" album. I love the treatments on this tribute CD. I was not familiar with Iggy Pop but I love his version of the title track and the Loudon Wainright III take on "the day the world ended". I am no music critic but I would highly recommend this CD.

Songs I was familiar with, tunes I had not heard before. I just loved that guy. I was a "Phoenix Groupie" of his back in the 70's. Every artist on this album did a fantastic job of the songs.

Great selection of covers of core Mose Allison classics. Some better than others but all in the spirit of the originals. Nothing can top his original interpretations but for a new perspective these performances are wonderful.

The CD is great but the DVD doesn't work. I don't know how to get another one.

The music is great but when we try to play the documentary in our Blu-ray/DVD player - which works just fine for every other bloody disc we've put in there - we get an error message that this format is not readable (BUP, VOB, and IFO files). I am furious. And, yes, I've double-checked that we're putting the correct disc in the machine. It also only loads the title page when I try to watch it with a video player on my desktop PC, which is more than what we get out of the DVD player, but still unacceptable.

A really well done tribute album featuring artist who were influenced by his music. I even discovered some folks I'd never previously heard of too such as Robbie Fulks.
The enclosed DVD made by his family and the BBC in 2006 is an excellent addition to the package.

I like most of the interpretations. Bonny Raitt is transcendant as always. Some of the arrangements seem a bit scattered.
