UltraSeven - Complete Series (Blu-ray)
In the Age of Interplanetary Wars, Earth is in danger from those who would threaten its very existence. From their massive underground complex near Mt. Fuji the Ultra Guard, an elite unit of the Terrestrial Defense Force, stands vigilant as our decisive first-line of defense. But unbeknownst to his teammates, Dan Moroboshi is secretly an extraterrestrial aiding them in their fight to preserve the future of humanity. Dubbed Ultraseven, he aides the Ultra Guard in fighting back alien hordes that would doom the world to conquest.
A far greater threat emerges, though, as Ultraseven sees the consequences of his power: Can he maintain his soul in the face of constant violence, even when that is necessary to protect his newfound friends?
Produced by the creative team behind Ultraman, Ultraseven is the third entry in the Ultra Series. Its science fiction themes range from the cruelty of war to social and racial injustices in the grand tradition of Star Trek and The Twilight Zone. Ultraseven features the colossal monsters and spectacular visual effects the Tsuburaya team is known for across the galaxy.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2024Came as described and quickly!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2024Decided to take the plunge into watching the Ultraman series and I decided to start with Ultraseven. It was a great series to watch for my v first time seeing it. There were some head scratching moments here and there, but nothing too bad.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2021I have three of these DVD sets so far and plan to collect more. I bought the standard packaging ve the Steelbook versions due to the lower price, but they are still excellent sets. The packaging is outstanding from the outer box to the DVD case with its beautifully decorated inserts. Each set contains a booklet with great information including the history of that particular series, character descriptions, stats and abilities for the "Ultra" of that particular series, episode descriptions, photos of all the monsters encountered in that series, and more.
The video quality looks great, and the sound appears to be optimized for modern sound systems without sounding unnaturally enhanced beyond the original sound (no exaggerated explosions or additional sound effects).
The English subtitles are set to come on automatically, but can be switched off & back on manually as desired.
I grew up in the early 70's with the original Ultraman on UHF TV and am enjoying the extended universe now with Ultraseven, and Ultraman Jack (Return Of Ultraman). Looking forward to Ace, Taro, and Leo in the near future as well as what will hopefully come after that.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2020The third, and to many fans perhaps the greatest installment of the Iconic Ultra series gets its long awaited Blu-Ray release and the results are spectacular. This is a massive upgrade to the DVD release, with about the best quality visual and audio you can expect from 50 year old source material. Ultra 7 is more dark, mature, complex and sometimes shockingly brutal than it’s predecessor show, with Kaiju getting hacked to pieces and gushing blood! Despite the more somber tone and complex plots there is still a lot of silliness, nonsense dream logic and all the inherent goofy good fun of men in rubber monsters suits wrestling. There are no English dubs on this set (would’ve been interesting to hear the slightly satiric TNT dub from the ‘90s, though some think it’s disrespectful) but the subtitles are greatly improved from the Shout! Factory DVDs and they sync well with the screen action and the original Japanese track.
Very highly recommend for classic Tokustatu and monster fans!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2019After years of rights issues and a functional but illegitimate Shout Factory DVD release, Ultraseven has finally seen an official blu ray release stateside. While lacking in special features, the packaging on the standard bluray release is pretty solid (don't buy the steelbook, it stacks the discs), and it comes with a little booklet that goes over the show's history and provides brief monster and episode descriptions. Sadly the infamous banned twelfth episode is not featured in this release, 'nor is it acknowledged in the booklet like it was in the Shout Factory set, but it's understandable why this is the case and the episode can still be found online regardless.
The visuals on this blu-ray are okay. It might just be my TV, but the grain looks smoothed out at times, maybe with a layer of DNR, but this is a nonissue if you just want to watch this show. The best aspect in this release are the colors, which pop out much more than they did in the Shout Factory release and highlight the surrealist lighting found in many of the show's episodes. The show's original audio has thankfully been preserved, so no awkward "remastering" with stereo audio like in the Shout Factory release either. I'm not a fan of either of the two English dubs for this show, but (like the previous Mill Creek Ultraman '66 blu-ray) neither are an option for those who may have had nostalgia for them, which is a shame because there will always be a market for people who prefer dubbing over subtitles.
With 48 episodes and a pretty solid transfer, this collection is an absolute steal at the price it's currently at. If you enjoyed the original Ultraman and its predecessor Ultra Q, this is a natural progression of both shows that is represented fairly in this blu-ray release. Sadly, fans of the dubs will not find either of them in this release, but if you're a purist who wants to watch the show as it was originally presented this release is perfectly fine.
Ultraseven remains one of my favorite entries in the Ultra series, and I hope others will continue to enjoy it thanks to Mill Creek.

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2022Its Ultraseven. The best Ultraman series ever made. Just buy it.
If you dont enjoy it, there might be something wrong with you.
The only drawback is the case. might want to move it to a larger one in order to prevent discs scratches.

5.0 out of 5 stars ¡Excelente!

3.0 out of 5 stars There is no digital version
In the Ultraman series. The first one I got into was Ultraseven, so he's also my favourite Ultraman. I bought this for my collection. As the picture shows, one side of the carton was broken. And on the other side, there's a little dot. It was a great disappointment to me. But I was even more disappointed that my ultra seven didn't come with a digital version. But it's clear on its merchandising page - Blu-ray + Digital. All the other Ultraman Brothers I bought came with a digital version. Although this digital collection is not my primary goal. But do you know what it's like to see one of my favourite TV series missing from my library? I can only say it was very bad. I feel like my collection has become incomplete.
