Product Description

Talk about odd couples... The zippy, happy-go-lucky Lippy the Lion (voiced by Daws Butler) is always looking for action. Hardy Har Har (voiced by Mel Blanc) is a hangdog, hapless hyena who never laughs. So, naturally, the two are inseparable. Constantly on the lookout for the next big score, the always-optimistic Lippy leads skeptical Hardy into a multitude of misadventures despite Hardy's "worry-wartin'." Lippy's all sunny-side up, while Hardy's trademark refrain of "oh dear, oh my" provides the comic counterpoint to all of their extraordinary exploits, which travel from the Wild West and deserted isles to country clubs and race tracks. No matter the time or the place, you can count on these two to maneuver into desperate danger each and every time!

Just like I remembered. Oh dear, oh my...

Lippy the Lion and Hardy Har Har is a great collection to own. Once part of The Hanna-Barbera New Cartoon Series, this two disc set contains all 52 Lippy and Hardy shorts. The Disc and Menu art is very plain, but the overall cartoon quality was great. There were a few shorts where the visual quality lacked compared to others, most notably Map Happy. The audio quality was great, however I did have to slightly adjust the volume on my tv throughout the cartoons.
Disc One contains episodes 1-26 and Disc Two contains episodes 27-52. The Discs have a Play all or individual cartoon selection options.
The character dynamic between the pessimistic Hardy and the forever scheming Lippy is perfect. The character balance is just right and makes for some great laughs. Another Hanna-Barbera Classic that you should welcome with open arms!

Ive read all the reviews, about bad disks and dropped frames. My set has ran perfectly. So I would buy it again. And Ive been waiting for years. Now how about Touche Turtle? And Ruff and Reddy... I have the entire collection, but an official set would be nice.

The picture and transfer rate are top notch, but sound and dialog is iffy. Each episode is either too loud or too quiet. It would have been nice to have a consistent audio track throughout the whole dvd set, however, be prepared to either turn down you audio or crank it to hear the dialog. Overall 65% out of 100.

How, if the would release a Touchee Turtle and Dum Dum set as well as Ruff and Redy, that would be great.

Ah, the early childhood memories this 1960's era cartoon series of Lippy the Lion and Hardy Har Har brings back is priceless. Recommend purchasing this DVD series to any one who likes 1960's cartoons. The audio quality of his DVD series does have its challenges as the audio levels can drop at times, so be patient with its playback performance as it does appear to have the anomalies of 1960's quality television, but the not so perfect audio quality adds to the character of the time these cartoons were aired on television back then.
